"It's nothing," Nathan replied, avoiding eye contact. But she was still concerned, and she planned to ask this question again when they arrived at their house.
"The next time I visit you, or the next day, we'll go to the spa so we do not even have a stressful day," Olivia joked, and Erin smiled because she knew her friend was talking about her concern about Nathan's bruise on his face.
"Yeah... see you soon, Olivia, and take care of yourself and especially the baby."
She got in the car after saying goodbye to Olivia, and then he saw Nathan wave his hand adieu to Matthew and Olivia.
When she and Nathan were alone in the car, far from Olivia's house, she couldn't help but wonder what had happened to Nathan's face, why he had a bruise, and who had ended up fighting him today.
"Nathan...what happened to your face?"
Nathan softly opened his mouth to speak, but no voice came out, and he just drove the car.
"Why don't you respond to my questions?"
She asked Nathan, frowning because she couldn't comprehend why Nathan didn't tell her what had actually happened.
She gave him a once-over, but the man who became her husband appeared to have his another world. He doesn't appear to be in a good mood, and she believes Nathan's thoughts are deep. She couldn't figure it out, but she sensed something was wrong; she assumed Nathan had a problem with her or anyone else.
"If you have a problem, let me know; I might be able to assist you. Are you keeping secrets from me, Nathan?"
Nathan initially turned to face her and his face looked so serious and dark, but he quickly returned his gaze to the road to concentrate on his driving. She sighed and took a deep breath, thinking that whatever was bothering Nathan, he could have informed her right away.
When they arrived at the mansion, Nathan remained motionless; she was concerned as to what was going on in his mind, so she questioned him again and chatted to him, hoping that he would talk to her immediately.
"Nathan, what is going on?"
"Promise me that whatever you find out about me will not make you furious or cause you to abandon me." While his face remained calm, he expressed his fear of losing Erin by his side.
"Nathan just tell me now…" She said intently and her voice was shaking.
"I can't...you'll find out soon…"
"Are you going to wait for someone else to tell me what your real problem is?"
"I can't tell you right now, Erin; I'm tired and need some time. I'm not sure how to tell you without hurting your feelings!" He said, raising his voice.
Erin was taken aback and turned to Nathan. She believes she will take anything Nathan will disclose to her, whether it is a dark secret or not because she loves him, but it will depend on how it will hurt her. "Just tell me right now!"
"I can't…"
Nathan lifted his head and stared at her closely before embracing her and kissing her on the forehead. "Sorry, but now isn't the proper time. Just give me a little bit of time...and good night, Gorgeous."
"So you're not going to sleep with me tonight?" She inquired, puzzled, and the anguish in her eyes was showing.
Nathan came to a halt and returned his gaze, responding calmly with a shake of his head.
"No, Erin...I will sleep in my bed tonight. Good night…"
She seemed to be hurt by what Nathan intended to say and as she watched him disappear from her sight and then her tears came, she appeared to be upset by the change in Nathan's behavior today, before, Nathan was not like that to her, she kept thinking that maybe another woman was bothering him so she felt Nathan didn't want her anymore.
She softly cried as she carefully opened the door, loosened her ponytail, and leaned against it. She no longer wants disputes in their relationship, but why is it that no matter how hard she tries to avoid them, she is continuously hounded by them? She overthinks a lot and believes that she should plan for the worst-case scenarios in their relationship, but she can't afford to lose him and she won't forgive him if he betrays her.
She went to bed upset that night, her heart and mind racing with worry over Nathan.
She awoke to a gloomy morning, her eyes still hurting as she squeezed them. She walked to the bathroom to brush her teeth and then washed her face in a sluggish manner.
She promptly exited her room and knocked on Nathan's door, but he was not there, so she walked downstairs and asked the maids where Nathan was, only to discover that Nathan had left the house early when she was not awake.
"Isn't he supposed to tell you where he's going? If it's client meetings, it's impossible; he leaves early; can't anyone tell me where he's going?"
"Sorry, but he didn't say where he was going, but before he left, he said we'd look after you. Normally, he would not inform us of his plans; I apologize madam, but we are unable to answer at this time." The butler spoke out.
She rolled her eyes because what Nathan was going to do, appalled and overwhelmed her. She attempted to call Nathan's phone, but it was disconnected. She was on the edge of hurling her phone against the wall because she couldn't communicate directly, but she kept her temper.
She phoned Liv's number in the hopes of finding someone who could empathize with her feelings.
"Hey, Liv...sorry to bother you, good morning..."
"No problem, Erin...tell me what happened?" Liv asks her with a worry in her voice.
"It is about Nathan, I'm not sure how to contact this man... I'm getting out of here, and I'm not going to tell him"
"Calm down, Erin; we have no idea what's going on in his head right now; perhaps he's just making sure everything's fine," Liv stated to keep her trying to relax.
"I'm not sure what I'll do with this man Liv; why is he in trouble, and if he has a problem, he should tell me about it, I'm so confused right now that he's making me insane."
"Erin, you've just cooled down, yeah? Things will get better as well; I'll call Matthew right now to pick you up so we can have a further conversation at home..."
"Okay thank you Liv, I gotta go upstairs to take my important things…"
She exhaled and massaged her face with her palm, showing that she was very concerned about what Nathan was doing to her, so she momentarily left the mansion and went to Liv or her Mother. She must maintain her composure in order for the situation not to deteriorate.
She said her goodbyes to the people at the mansion as soon as her belongings were packed, in case Nathan returned home and they told him she was leaving to give herself peace of mind because she didn't really understand Nathan anymore.
"What if Sir Nathan is angry because you left without saying goodbye to him?" the old gardener wondered.
"Well, I don't care if he gets mad," she remarked as she shifted her sight to the gardener. "Just don't pay attention to him, be careful here."
The elderly gentleman smiled and nodded before assisting her in putting her luggage into the car.
"Thank you..." she murmured with a smile on her face.
"I have to go now," she said,
"Take care, madam!" The maid said.
"Take care a lot, Madam!"
"Thank you, everyone!" waving her hands at them and had her bodyguard close the car door for her.
Nathan and Alas, on the other hand, are talking today about how he's going to tell Erin about the truth and about his problem and how he's going to introduce the baby to Erin because the Mother of her child is invited to his grandfather's big event tomorrow.
"Why don't you just tell her the truth and your problems will go away? That's so simple dude..." Alas said, scratching his head.
"I can't just tell her like that, I don't know bro, I don't want to make a move and I don't want to hurt her feelings."
"That way, buddy, you'll know she loves you when she forgives you for your stupidity because it happened five months ago and you haven't met her yet, so it's okay, and now go and tell her! Don't wait for days or months...Just tell her now!" Alas said and grabbed a whisky to drink it. Alas grinned because he thinks he was involved in his friend's issues and now he speaks with the confidence of a good adviser. Nathan rested his palms on the table once he was able to ponder thoroughly and then said at the same time that what Alas said was right.
"So I'll tell her about Dianne and the baby, and that'll be the end of it? Sorry, bro, but when it comes to her, I've become foolish, but you're right, I need to inform her so she won't be surprised when she sees me with Dianne tomorrow."
