Chapter 104 How Do We Kiss? Which Posture Should I Use?
Ebony, "?"
Ebony, "??"
Ebony, "???"
Standing still in puzzlement, Ebony thought she might have heard it wrong.
She looked at Elvin with unbelieving eyes.
When seeing himself being stared at by Ebony, Elvin explained, "Take it easy. I just want to see if you are a good match when you're standing together. A cheat is okay."
Hearing that, Ebony breathed a sigh of relief.
It's generally known that no kiss test was needed during auditions.
A cheat was not a big deal for Ebony.
She turned her head, looked at Lloyd, and asked simply, "How do we kiss? Which posture should I use?" .
Lloyd, "..."
He stepped forward, pinched her delicate jaw with his right hand, and raised her head.
Ebony was forced to look up.
Staring at the man who was close to her, she asked again, "Do I need to close my eyes? I'm going to do whatever you tell me."
Lloyd said in a deep voice, "Close."
He added, "Close your mouth too."
Ebony gave him repeated nods.
She closed her eyes cooperatively.
And she stopped speaking.
Lloyd pressed his cool finger against the center of her lips.
Ebony closed her eyes and couldn't see him. She could only feel his breath which was gradually approaching her.
She knew this method of cheat.
She once used it when she was acting in her previous life.
The actor pressed his thumb on the actress' lips and kissed it. It looked like he was kissing the actress, but in fact he was kissing the back of his own finger.
Ebony waited for a while and guessed that Lloyd must be kissing his own finger.
She stayed professional and didn't move all the time.
After a while, she heard Elvin say, "That's okay."
So she opened her eyes, and at this moment, she happened to meet Lloyd's deep eyes.
He didn't avert his eyes.
He was so close to her.
His thumb was between her and himself.
But actually, a thumb wide distance meant nothing at the moment.
Ebony could feel the warmth from Lloyd, and saw her own reflection in his dark eyes.
Lloyd backed away then.
He put down his right hand, turned his head calmly, and looked at Elvin who was sitting.
Elvin commented, "You are a good match in both height and shape. Kiss scenes will be nice."
After that, he gestured to a worker, "Bring them a chair."
Someone brought a chair over.
Elvin said, "Show me the twelfth scene."
When Lloyd heard the words, he sat down on the chair without saying a word.
Ebony didn't know what the twelfth scene was about because she had only read a three-page draft.
Elvin explained to her, "The hero Harriet Booth has a crush on the heroine Elsie May. He originally plans to express his love for her on the eve of graduation. However, he witnesses she suffers a car accident but all rescue measures prove ineffectual. As a classmate of Harriet, you met him at a class reunion ten years later. You are both single and you pursues Harriet. In the second year, you get married, but during your pregnancy, you find that Harriet may be cheating on you. Later you find out that the other woman is Elsie."
Elvin took another sip of coffee after having said this.
Then he continued, "One day Harriet came home in a very bad mood. You go to ask him, and you only has one line, 'what's the matter'."
After saying this, Elvin signaled that she could start.
Then Ebony began to collect herself.
After turning her head, she saw that Lloyd had been ready.
He was sitting in the chair and leaning forward with his elbows on his knees and his palms clenching.
It's difficult to see clearly his expression. She could only see his clenched jaw and mouth showing no sigh of smiling.
Ebony's character was pregnant and her husband probable had an affair with the woman who died ten years ago.
Her character already knew clearly Harriet was cheating on her.
How would a wife get along with her husband after knowing his betrayal?
What micro-expressions would be used? What were the character's feelings? How could she express the character's feelings?
That's what Elvin wanted to see.
There was only one chair, so Ebony's character couldn't sit next to Harriet as if nothing happened.
If she stood next to Harriet, she had to look down at him, which would show a sense of confrontation by chance.
Ebony didn't want that sense.
She thought the core of the twelfth scene was not confrontation and Elvin should not want that sense.
Giving her no chair was absolutely a test for her.
While thinking about that, Ebony walked away from Lloyd, turned her back to him and started performing cleaning vegetables.
She heard Harriet get home and knew that he was sitting on the couch.
She just cooked in the kitchen without giving Harriet any response.
She was thinking about what she had found, and every now and then, her movement of cleaning vegetables paused for a while, and then she pursed her lips and looked outside.
Soon, as she drew back her sight, she became irritable and threw the vegetables heavily on the chopping board.
But she continued to clean vegetables and then finished cooking.
She's struggling all the time, but she didn't stop doing housework.
When the meal was ready, she brought all the dishes to the dining room as usual.
She didn't been idle until she finished setting the table. Then she stood at the dining table and looked at Harriet sitting on the couch.
Harriet seemed to be lost in deep thought, frowning.
She looked at him at the table for a long time with cold eyes.
After a while, she smiled, stroked her still not too big belly, and walked towards him.
She tilted her head to look at him, then stood beside him gently, put one hand on his shoulder, stroked his hair with the other, bent down, and asked in his ear, "What's the matter?"
In a flirtatious voice.
Harriet raised his head, took her hand off his shoulder, put it on his lips, and kissed it lightly.
Then he got up, looked at her belly with pampering in his eyes, held her, and walked to the dining table.
"Cut."
Elvin stopped their performance and stared at Ebony's face with surprise in his eyes.
Ebony took her hand out of Lloyd's.
She stood in place to wait for Elvin's comments.
The back of her hand was still with the residual heat of Lloyd's lips.
So she wiped the back of her hand with her clothes.
Lloyd noticed her movement.
He turned gloomy instantly and walked back to the judging panel.
Elvin sat in silence for a long time, and then said, "We will inform you of the result soon."
This meant no comments.
Ebony pursed her lips and bowed.
Then she was led out by someone.
After she left, Elvin took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket.
After lighting one, he took a drag on it and looked at Lloyd, asking, "What do you think?"
Lloyd leaned on the back of the wooden chair and said slowly, "She's creative."
"You're right. She's very smart. She knew she had only one line, which would make it difficult to express multiple emotions, so she added a scene of doing housework to foreshadow. Her understanding of the role is quite interesting."
Lloyd said, "Yes."
Elvin continued, "I thought she would act an impulsive wife or a forbearing wife, which were relatively simple, but she actually showed us a scheming wife."
"It's very interesting." Lloyd commented.
Elvin smile, "Yes. it's very interesting. I'll have a meeting to discuss the result. Unless something unexpected happens, she'll win the role."
