Chapter 307 Living with Lloyd and Impressing the World?
Ebony was stunned.
She looked up at Lloyd.
He put the crystal ball down and sat down next to her.
She was unresponsive at first but soon felt that his hand touched her waist from behind.
The maid was still there.
She immediately stood up, glared at him, and sulked, "I'm going up to take a shower."
She then rushed up the stairs.
The next day, she was woken up by the ringtone.
"Hello?" She grabbed her phone and answered it sleepily.
Janet's voice came from the other end. "Ebony, don't forget that you should go to the office today."
She said, "I'm coming to pick you up. According to Dolores, there will be an award ceremony for the TV series. Fairy Island is nominated for the Best Film Award of the Year. Initially, I thought that it would be fine if you didn't have time to go. Now that the filming of Love Romance has finished, Dolores wants you to come along. You can try the evening dress in the office today."
"Okay," Ebony said lazily.
"I'll be there soon," Janet said.
Ebony felt sleepy and mumbled, "Okay."
After hanging up the phone, she threw it aside, covered her head with the blanket, and continued to sleep.
After some time, her phone rang again.
She frowned, groped for the phone under the blanket, found it, and pressed the answer button. "Hello?"
"Ebony, I'm outside your house. Open the door," Janet said.
Ebony scratched her hair, dejectedly got up, put on slippers, and went out.
When she passed by the staircase, she saw Lloyd brewing coffee on the first floor. Leaning against the railing, she said, "Go open the door."
Lloyd looked at her.
On the other end of the phone, Janet froze and asked, "Me? You want me to pull open the door? Okay, I'm doing it. Ah, it won't open."
"Not you," Ebony said and demanded again, "Lloyd, go open the door."
Janet was astounded.
Lloyd got the coffee ready, wiped his hands with a sterile towel, and went to get the door.
However, there wasn't a soul outside.
He looked up at the girl on the stairs and raised his eyebrows. "Huh?"
Ebony looked at the door. Her eyes swiveled and looked around.
Then she sobered up.
A cold sweat broke out on her forehead. She swallowed and talked cautiously over the phone, "Hello?"
Janet was silent.
The atmosphere suddenly became subtle.
Ebony realized something. Janet and Dolores didn't know that she had secretly moved out.
The man downstairs was still looking at her.
She turned around, rushed back to her room, closed the door, and said to Janet anxiously, "I can explain!"
Janet remained silent. The screen displayed that she was still on the phone, otherwise, she would have believed that Janet had hung up.
Aware that it was difficult to explain things clearly over the phone, she said, "I'll see you in the lobby of the office building. We'll talk about it in person."
After hanging up the phone, she washed up, grabbed her bag, rushed downstairs, and drove one of Lloyd's cars away. She had never been in such a hurry before.
30 minutes later, she saw Janet at the office building. The girl looked like a lost soul.
Ebony guiltily pulled up her mask. Once her face was covered, she scampered to Janet's side and dragged the latter to the stairwell.
She throttled Janet and threatened her, "You can't tell anyone about it."
Janet looked at Ebony blankly. Her soul hadn't come back to her yet. She looked listless.
It hadn't been long, but she acted like she couldn't recognize her superior. Her look was weird.
Ebony noticed her condition, let go of her, and asked, "Are... you all right?"
Janet's glazed eyes slowly fell on Ebony's face, and she muttered soullessly, "Are you going to secretly live with Lloyd and impress the world?"
Ebony was speechless.
Janet had lost her mind. In a hurry, she said, "It's not like that. Anyway, you can't tell Dolores! Or both of us are screwed!"
Janet froze. "What has it got to do with me?"
Ebony narrowed her eyes and said, "Before I'm screwed, I'll fire you! You'll be screwed too! We will perish together!"
Janet staggered and took half a step back. As one of Lloyd's fans, she felt that she had learned too much.
"I... can keep it a secret," she said distractedly.
Ebony's eyes immediately lit up.
"But Dolores will know sooner or later," she added.
Ebony waved it off. "As long as our lips are sealed, how would she know?"
Ten minutes later, in the office, Dolores poked at Ebony's head and roared, "What the hell is going on? According to the property manager, you haven't gone home for over a month. Where did you stay last night?"
Ebony was scared to death. She hadn't expected Dolores to know the property manager of their community.
She replied awkwardly, "I... stayed at my friend's house."
Dolores stood akimbo and said, "What about before that when you were filming Love Romance? He said that you were not at home either."
Ebony sweated and faltered, "Also... at my friend's house."
"Which friend of yours, male or female?" Dolores snapped.
Ebony's eyes swiveled, and she replied in a hurry, "Female, an old lady and a friend of my mother."
Dolores narrowed her eyes. "Really?"
Ebony nodded repeatedly. "Yeah, the old lady invited me to stay in her house because she was afraid that I couldn't eat and rest well when I was living alone."
Dolores frowned and asked, "Why didn't you tell me?"
Ebony cringed and prevaricated, "Well, it's not an important matter. I didn't think it was necessary to mention it."
Dolores said, "You should mention it. You're a public figure, and your residence should be secure. What if the paparazzi snap pictures of you or expose your privacy? Where are you living now? Is the neighborhood chaotic?"
Ebony immediately shook her head. "No, it's not."
Still, Dolores couldn't rest her mind at ease. "Tell me your current address. I'll send someone to check it out."
Ebony certainly didn't dare to tell Dolores. Instead, she lied, "I can't remember it since I just moved in. I'm not familiar with the surroundings yet. That area is safe, and some celebrities live there. Privacy is secure."
Dolores was surprised. "You have celebrity neighbors? Who?"
Ebony's voice choked up. She paused and looked up at the sky. "A famous star. His name is at the tip of my tongue, but I can't remember it. Well, it's... you know..."
Dolores said, "What do I know? Is he an actor? What films has he acted in?"
Ebony prevaricated, "Well, that film, you know."
Dolores was speechless.
She knew nothing.
She felt that Ebony was acting weird. She frowned and said, "Forget it, we'll talk about it later. When you move again, be sure to tell me!"
Ebony repeatedly nodded and asked, "Dolores, how did you know the property manager?"
Dolores glanced at her and replied, "Your apartment is sort of a dormitory. We have rented the apartments on three or four floors as the artists' dormitory. The agents regularly communicate with the property managers to make sure their residences are secure."
Ebony nodded and flattered her, "Dolores, you're so responsible and considerate." She then asked, "What are you going to do with my former house?"
Dolores asked, "Are you going to stay at the old lady's house forever? You won't move back again?"
Ebony replied, "Yes, I will move back if Lloyd and I quarrel."
