Chapter 308 Lloyd Fell Ill
Dolores was stunned.
Once the words were out of her mouth, Ebony realized a slip of the tongue.
She quickly covered her mouth. Her eyes rounded.
Dolores quietly gazed at her, paused for a long time, and enunciated, "What... did... you... say?"
Ebony sweated and hurriedly said, "I mean, look, a UFO!"
She pointed out of the window and rushed toward the door.
Dolores was pissed off. From behind Ebony, she growled, "Your neighbor is Lloyd?"
Ebony was stunned.
Eh?
Dolores was still in the dark.
Ebony heaved a sigh of relief, followed Dolores' train of thought, and said, "Yeah, we're just neighbors with little interaction."
Dolores pulled a long face. "Didn't you say you were not together!"
Ebony replied, "Well, we're just neighbors."
Dolores sneered, "No wonder you refuse to leave the old lady's house. Ebony, tell me, do you like Lloyd?"
Ebony scratched her ear which flushed a little. She covered it and prevaricated, "Lloyd is a virtuous and talented senior. He is a veteran, and I respect him very much."
Dolores stared at her with scrutinizing eyes. After a long time, she let out a breath, rubbed her forehead, and said, "Whatever! But you can't let anyone know that Lloyd and you're living in the same neighborhood. Are we clear?"
Ebony repeatedly nodded. "Yeah, sure."
"Go and try the clothes!" Dolores sulked.
Relieved, Ebony hurriedly pulled open the door and ran away.
After trying the evening dress for the award ceremony, she went to have a meeting with the business operations team.
Dolores also attended it. Ebony's work in the future was the theme.
"Movies?"
Ebony saw two movie scripts in front of her, flipped them through, and said, "Fantasies?"
Dolores said, "Before Pledge hits the screen, you won't have many chances to act as the female lead. You can't just wait it out either. You can go to variety shows but not so frequently. The audience will get tired. Besides, movies are your main business. With the rise of your reputation, we've received more offers from big companies. Those TV dramas are not very interesting, but this movie is fine. Although it's just a supporting role, you'll have a lot of scenes to act in and even have an independent plot of romance. The character is likable, and it's a production by Director Eusebio Mcmullen. It's unlikely that he'll win an award, but given the genre, the box office won't be bad."
Ebony was surprised. "Director Eusebio Mcmullen?"
She read the script of that movie once again.
The name of the film was on the cover. It was called Foreign Birds but changed into Shock later when it hit the screen. In fact, Ebony acted in this film in her last life. Her role was a utility woman.
Back then, there was an indoor scene that needed a pretty girl to play the role of a beggar. The role originally belonged to an extra who couldn't make it to the scene. The stage had been set, and the director was ranting.
Ebony's drama crew was next door, and she went to watch the fun in her costume.
Director Eusebio Mcmullen saw her but failed to recognize her as the actress who was laughed at by everyone on the internet. Her appearance impressed him, and he asked her if she would like to act in one set of scenes. She would be paid as much as a guest actress.
There was a ranking among extras, and a famous extra could be a guest actress. Comparatively speaking, it was kind of a decent role.
Ebony could refuse. Although she was not a superstar, she hadn't been reduced to the level of extras.
It was just that she had only acted in terrible films and wanted to act in one of the big productions. So, she agreed.
The filming lasted an hour, but in the final production, she only appeared for one second.
It was hard to find her even if one paused the video.
However, she had a good time acting in it.
She just hadn't expected that she would have a chance to act in this movie again in this life.
Ebony remembered who had taken the supporting role. It was a girl from a celebrity family. It was her debut movie.
Unfortunately, that girl's acting skills sucked. As a result, the rating was not that good, and the box office was just fine, although the main leads were played by popular stars, and the plot was quite good and free of logical errors.
Ebony flipped through the script and said readily, "I'll choose this one."
Since she was fine with it, Dolores said, "Deal. I'll talk to them and keep you updated with the time of joining the crew."
After the business was done, Ebony enjoyed her free lunch in the canteen, dawdled, and then went home.
Back in the house, she started reading the script sample.
Lloyd came back and saw her sitting cross-legged on the sofa in her housecoat.
Probably, she had just had a shower. Half-wet, her hair was hanging loose. The moist strands slid down her cheeks to her shoulders.
The TV set was facing the sofa. The news was being broadcast. She was not watching it. Her attention was on the thin paper on her lap.
Lloyd put down the car keys, walked to the sofa, and sat down.
They were sitting close to each other.
Ebony didn't move but continued reading the script.
Lloyd frowned at her for a while and suddenly took the script away.
Startled, she hurriedly got it back and clasped it. "You can't read it. This script is internal and confidential!"
Lloyd drew his hand back, glanced at the names of the film and the director on the cover, and then shifted his attention back to her face.
"Where is the maid?" he asked.
"Grocery shopping," she replied.
Lloyd hummed lightly.
She sorted out the script and asked, "Where did you do?"
"The hospital," he replied simply.
She immediately looked up at him. "Who is sick?"
Lloyd looked into her eyes and replied calmly, "Me."
Surprised, she grabbed his arm and asked anxiously, "What is the problem?"
He grabbed her hand and replied blandly, "Hypoglycemia, according to the doctor."
She frowned and wondered how he developed hypoglycemia.
Then she heard the man adding, "But you're sweet. Now that we're the only ones at home, kiss me and replenish my sugar."
