Chapter 306 Unstoppable with No Man in Your Heart
The assistant director was baffled, and so were Ebony, the other three guests, and the chief director.
The chief director's mind was blown away.
They... Ahhh!
Kara was dumbfounded.
He... He... They...
She felt dizzy and almost fainted.
Quick in reaction, Ebony nudged Lloyd and tried to smooth things over. "Yeah, Lloyd is a rich man and wants to leave his gifts to me. They are all mine. His gifts will be mailed to me!"
Everyone was astounded.
Huh? Was this what he meant?
"We..." Lloyd opened his mouth.
Ebony quickly turned around and looked daggers at him.
His eyes dimmed, and he corrected himself in the end. "Yeah."
The assistant director heaved a sigh of relief.
The other guests found this reason acceptable.
Kara finally felt better.
Ebony and Kara took the same car to the airport.
Kara kept advising and brainwashing her along the way. "You should focus on your career! Men will blunt your edge. You can't be bewitched by men, especially good-looking ones. They are vixens!"
Ebony didn't know what to say.
She looked at Kara and asked cautiously, "What if one day I meet someone I like..."
Kara immediately spat, "You're unstoppable when no man is in your heart. You can't like any man!"
Ebony was speechless.
She didn't know why the few fans she had were all abnormal.
They took the plane and then a car back to the capital. When Ebony and Lloyd arrived home, it was already 10 p.m.
As soon as they entered the house, Rolls-Royce, who had arrived earlier, meowed and scampered over. It pawed Ebony's pant legs, asking for a hug.
Ebony picked up the kitten and rubbed its head.
The maid came out of the kitchen with a bowl. At the sight of them, she smiled, "You're back. I thought you would not arrive until midnight."
Ebony saw the bowl in her hand, immediately thrust Rolls-Royce into Lloyd's arms, rushed over, and asked excitedly, "What's in it? I'm starving!"
The maid put the bowl on the floor and smiled, "It's for the cat. You can't have it."
She looked at Ebony's face closely and lamented, "Poor girl, it has been just half a month, but you've lost a lot of weight. Didn't Mr. Vasquez give you food?"
Amused, Ebony complained, "Lloyd doesn't know how to cook. The food he cooked was terrible."
Holding the cat, Lloyd was speechless.
The maid couldn't help but grumble, "Alas, you can't count on him about anything. Come with me to the kitchen. I'll cook something for you. What would you like to eat?"
Like a clingy girl, Ebony followed the maid to the kitchen. There would be delicacies.
After a while, the maid made five dishes, a bowl of soup, and a pot of rice. It was a feast.
Ebony looked across the table at Lloyd, who was also eating, and said, "Thanks to me, you have a chance to have these dishes."
He froze and looked at her with his dark eyes.
She added, "Believe it or not, if you came back alone, she would give you rice to eat at best. Look at these delicacies. Goose feet with abalone sauce and chicken soup with mushrooms. These are my favorites. She cooked them for me."
Lloyd laughed and played along. "Thank you, Miss Gibson."
Her eyes swiveled, and she said furtively, "It's okay, but you owe me one and should return my favor."
Now he realized what she was trying to achieve. He put his fork and knife down, leaned against the chair, and said blandly, "Fill me in."
Ebony stole a glance at the maid who was in the kitchen. The latter was paying no attention to them, and she whispered, "Well, can you not tell others that we're dating?"
Lloyd frowned. His face instantly fell.
She added, "As compensation, I'll add some points to your score."
He narrowed his eyes and said in a cold voice, "Reason?"
Ebony scratched his face and muttered, "In fact, we're still testing it out, and you know that you're not likable. No one in my family likes you. My agent doesn't like you either. Even my fans don't like you. If they learn about it, there will be trouble."
His face clouded over.
She had another look at the kitchen.
The maid hadn't come out yet. She stood up, leaned over to Lloyd across the table, and said, "Come closer. There is something I want to tell you."
He reluctantly leaned over.
She dropped a quick kiss on his cheek and then sat back down.
Things were turned around in an instant.
Across the table, the gloom on his face dissipated at a visible speed. His expression also softened.
With her head low, she quickly dug in and refused to look at his face.
After dinner, she sat in the living room to watch the news.
After a while, the maid came over with a crystal ball and asked with a smile, "Miss Gibson, how does this crystal ball look?"
Ebony had a look and replied, "Beautiful."
The maid handed it to her and said, "Take it to your room."
Ebony was surprised. "It's for me?"
The maid glanced at Lloyd, who was watering the flowers on the balcony and snickered, "It was brought back by Mrs. Vasquez. According to her, it will bring you good luck if you put it in your room."
"Good luck?" Ebony took the crystal ball and intended to ask if it would bring her money.
Then she suddenly saw a line of words on the pedestal. "The marriage crystal ball will arouse your deepest desire."
She was flabbergasted.
She placed it on the coffee table and muttered, "I don't want it."
Lloyd came in with the canteen. He saw the crystal ball and found that Ebony was twiddling her fingers with her head low.
He raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong?"
The maid smiled, "It's a lucky crystal ball. Your mother bought one for Miss Gibson and one for you. She wants you to put them in your rooms."
He walked over, picked up the crystal ball for a look, and soon saw the words on the pedestal. "The deepest desire?"
The maid asked casually, "Mr. Vasquez, what is your deepest desire?"
He glanced at Ebony and smiled, "I'd rather not tell. It may be a criminal offense."
