Chapter 303 Bird-Brain

Chapter 303 Bird-Brain

The video stopped there.

Max held the phone and looked at the screen that had blacked out.

It reflected his icy cold face.

His gray eyes narrowed.

He threw the phone on the table and took another drag of the cigarette. Somehow, a smile appeared in his eyes.

Ebony put her phone into her pocket.

She squatted down, looked at the two immobilized bruisers, and asked coldly, "Why do you want to catch me?"

They looked at her in horror but refused to talk.

She arched her brow and asked, "Ever been in the prison of Crocan? Care to experience it?"

She grabbed the collar of one man, lifted him, held him down against the wall, and raised her other hand high. "Say it."

The man was from Yoland. In the Yolandian language, he said, "I don't know."

She thought of her master's habit.

Her master only gave orders and never explained.

She looked at the familiar face of the man.

This guy was a veteran who had followed her master since the age of 12. She remembered a time when she failed a subject in the training. As punishment, she was locked up in a cage with a leopard.

She was bitten terribly. It was this guy who carried her to the infirmary.

She smacked her lips.

She let go of him and glanced at the other man who was on the ground.

It was also an acquaintance. When she was recuperating in the infirmary, he helped deliver night snacks to her.

In her last life, she was training with her master in this period. Almost all the hitters, killers, finance personnel, and the supporting crew of Bloody Group got along with her.

She didn't have the heart to harm these old friends.

She put her hands back in her pockets and said indifferently, "Get Lost."

Ignoring their dismayed looks, she turned around and went out of the bathroom.

She headed back to the box but spotted at least five or six lurkers along the way.

She sighed. These people sucked at lurking. At a glance, she could tell that they were not trained by her master in person. These hitters were second or third-rate. Did he really want to catch her?

Wait, he didn't want to catch her.

She paused. Could it be that her master didn't mean to catch her? Instead... he was testing her?

It was possible. Her master was working with the Crocan military. During their cooperation, he wouldn't be so bold as to have her kidnapped.

She figured out the situation and laughed.

Testing her or whatever. She didn't care. Given the brain capacity of her master, he couldn't possibly figure out that she had been reborn.

She didn't take it seriously. She pushed the door open and intended to go in.

Someone suddenly came out of the box.

She looked at his serious face in surprise.

Relieved to see her safe, Lloyd grabbed her hand and asked with a frown, "Are you all right?"

She was surprised by his question. Probably, he had just received a message. She thought to herself and replied, "Yeah, what can happen to me?"

Lloyd looked at her quietly.

The box was lively. Ebony noticed that Kara was staring at her covetously.

She pushed Lloyd and said, "Go in."

His brows furrowed further.

She pushed him back to his seat and sat down. Beside her, Kara suddenly tugged at her sleeve.

Ebony looked over and saw Kara pouting. The girl sulked, "Tell me, what is going on with you guys?"

Concerned about another issue, she was not in the mood to talk about that. Instead, she turned to look at Lloyd.

His phone rang again. He checked it out and stood up.

Ebony followed him to rise.

Kara was pissed off. In a hurry, she pulled at Ebony and asked, "Where are you going?"

Seeing that Lloyd went out of the box, she hurriedly followed him and said casually, "To the bathroom."

Kara refused to let her go. "Didn't you just come back?"

Ebony replied, "I entered the wrong one. This time, I'm going to the lady's room."

Kara was flabbergasted.

With that, Ebony hurriedly pushed her away and rushed out.

In the box, Kara was fuming.

On her side, Donald said, "It's okay. Just leave them alone. The others may not know, but don't we? They are dating."

"No! They are not!" Kara retorted immediately, "I think they might have been together before but have broken up, otherwise why did he call Ebo when he was asked to call his ex-girlfriend? Yeah, they definitely have broken up. I'm going to find out!"

With that, she also went out.

Ebony saw Lloyd enter the escape passage.

She quickly followed. As soon as she got in, her wrist was gripped.

The familiar scent of a man came over in the next second. A warm hand clasped her waist and held her down against the railing.

Lloyd's cold, hoarse voice came from above. "Why did you cover up for them?"

She swallowed. The pitch-black stairwell limited her vision.

She concentrated for a long time before vaguely making out his face.

His face was solemn, and his dark eyes were deep.

She grabbed his sleeve and said guiltily, "What did I cover up?"

Lloyd suddenly let go of her and turned to leave.

She hurriedly grabbed him and said, "I'm using them as bait for bigger fish."

The man glanced at her coldly.

She was aware of how lame her excuse was, but what could she do? The two hitters were her acquaintances and just carried out orders. It was her master's terrible idea.

If her master came in person, she would definitely not stop Lloyd. As long as he didn't kill her master, she was fine with it. He could torture her master as he liked.

Suddenly, faint footsteps were heard coming from upstairs.

It was light and imperceptible to ordinary people.

They both looked upstairs.

Lloyd went up the stairs. Ebony quickly followed and overtook him.

Kara searched for a long time in the bathroom but failed to find Ebony. In a huff, she planned to go back to the box. All of a sudden, a person dashed out, covering her nose and mouth with a scented towel.

She struggled. Two seconds later, her eyeballs rolled upward, and she passed out.

By the time Ebony reached upstairs, the sound was gone.

Half a step slower, Lloyd came up. The induction light lit up. She looked back and met his cold eyes.

Ebony rubbed her nose and asked awkwardly, "Did you receive an order from the military? What did they say? Were you ordered to catch these people?"

"Confidential," he said coldly.

She didn't pursue it. Just then, a phone rang out in the corridor.

She reached out for her pocket.

Lloyd turned to look at her.

She took out a phone which was not hers. It was expropriated from one of the hitters.

Lloyd looked at the phone and narrowed his eyes again.

Ebony didn't dare to look at his face. She unlocked the screen and saw a video clip.

Kara was lying on a white bed with her eyes closed.

Ebony froze.

The film ended a few seconds later.

Then a ding came from the phone. It was a text message.

She checked it out.

The message should be edited by Max. It read, "Hi, Miss Gibson, I am your neighbor who passed by your garbage can and found it stinky."
