Chapter 67

Chapter 67
Vanessa tried to defend herself.
But Sophia seemed to have become smarter all of a sudden. Without giving Vanessa a chance to explain, she asked, "I was just curious why he liked a woman's Instagram at night and even went to Talian during the Spring Festival. By the way, I met you near his house before. I really didn't understand why you went there so late!"
Vanessa had nothing to say.
In the living room, Shawn took off his coat and leaned against the sofa, relaxing. He didn't know what his girlfriend was going through.
"But why is my uncle?"
Sophia held the basket tightly and asked in confusion, "You said it was your ex-boyfriend's mistress'... What am I talking about?"
"Okay, stop!"
Vanessa felt she couldn't continue to make up lies, so she confessed, "I made a mistake. I thought Shawn was that woman's uncle."
She made a mistake?
How could she get the wrong guy?
"Yes, it's true. I made a mistake," said Vanessa.
Sophia was stunned for a while and then asked, "Does my uncle know?"
Vanessa lowered her head and nodded heavily.
Vanessa didn't know what Sophia would think or whether she would be angry.
If she was angry, Vanessa really didn't know how to coax her.
After a long silence, Sophia didn't respond.
Vanessa raised her head and saw her staring at Shawn blankly in the room. No one knew what she was thinking about.
Vanessa didn't know what to say. She could only wait quietly for Sophia to accept the fact.
Feeling Sophia's gaze, Shawn took a look at them and then walked towards the yard.
Sophia remained motionless as if she had been petrified. She stared at Shawn as he walked towards her step by step.
He was holding Vanessa's coat.
When he opened the yard door, a gust of wind blew in.
Shawn frowned and asked, "Why don't you wear a coat?"
He was asking Vanessa.
She touched the tip of her nose and whispered, "I forgot it."
Shawn helped her put on her coat and looked down at the cherries in her hand. "They're so small." He said in disgust,
Vanessa subconsciously moved the basket away and shirked the responsibility. "I didn't take it."
Vanessa didn't see it, but Sophia could clearly see the smile on Shawn's face.
This smile was even gentler than the spring night wind.
She had never seen Shawn like this before.
"Hurry up." Shawn stopped smiling and turned back. "We're going home."
"Okay," replied Vanessa.
After Shawn's figure completely disappeared, Vanessa went to see Sophia.
She was still in a daze, but her eyes were different.
She looked at Vanessa with somewhat admiration.
"So," Sophia muttered, "he knows everything, but he didn't kill you?"
"We live in a society ruled by law now. Be careful when you speak," said Vanessa.
It was hard for Sophia to accept it in such a short time, but she found a blind spot.
"It turns out that being a stalker is so useful?"
On their way back, Vanessa held a box of washed cherries.
"Would you like?"
Shawn looked at the driver in the front row and said, "No."
Vanessa was used to it, so she withdrew her hand silently as if nothing had happened.
At this time, Shawn asked, "What did you say to Sophia?"
Vanessa, "H'm?"
"She was absent-minded when we left," said Shawn.
"You are so considerate."
Vanessa lowered her head to eat the cherries. "I'm a little unhappy now. Have you found it?"
Shawn glanced at Vanessa and smiled.
Vanessa didn't have time to bite the cherry in her mouth. "What are you laughing at?"
Shawn didn't answer.
Vanessa knew that Shawn wouldn't say anything at this time.
The two of them were quiet on the road. As soon as they arrived at the Emerald Garden, Vanessa began to look for the plastic wrap.
She bent down in front of the fridge. "Can cherries be put in the fridge? Will they rot tomorrow morning?"
However, the person behind her responded.
She turned around and saw Shawn leaning against the table, picking up a cherry and putting it into his mouth.
"Why didn't you eat just now?"
Vanessa took the cherry box and asked, "Why are you eating in such a furtive way?"

"Because I don't like cherries."
Shawn said as he took the box from her hand.
Vanessa was confused. "Then what are you doing now?"
Shawn stretched out his legs to stop Vanessa and pulled her in front of him.
"But I want to see you eat."
He said with a smile.
His smile now was completely different from his smile in front of others. He was now seducing her.
At this moment, Vanessa felt that she and Shawn seemed to have taken the wrong script of the siren and the sailor.
When he fed her the cherry, she bit it subconsciously.
After eating more than ten cherries in succession, she raised her head and looked at him with a smile.
"Is that because I look beautiful when eating cherries?"
Shawn smiled and didn't admit it.
"No."
Vanessa was confused.
"Because I want to taste you with cherry flavor."
Her mouth was full of cherry sweetness, which made this kiss different from before.
It was a chaste kiss and was like a childish game, making Vanessa couldn't stop it.
Vanessa wrapped her arms around his neck, kissed him, and smiled.
She felt itchy and couldn't help but lean back. Shawn wrapped his arms around her waist and bent down.
Squinting her eyes, Vanessa found that Shawn was smiling too.
This night, they spent several hours playing with the small box of cherries.
The spring night was gentle, and the moonlight was soft.
Shawn hugged her silently.
Without any verbal promise, Vanessa felt that every minute tonight was a microcosm of their future.
At the same time, Valeria in Talian's finally noticed that many people on Instagram were reposting articles about Rachel Taylor.
She certainly knew Rachel Taylor. After all, Vanessa had collected a lot of her CDs at home.
She clicked on the link and found it was an article introducing her family background.
Valeria was not interested in the entertainment industry, so she was about to quit after browsing it.
However, with her thumb, she fixed her eyes on a photo of a young man. The man looked familiar.
Valeria, who had been a class teacher for decades, could remember the face of new students in a month, so it was a piece of cake for her to think of Shawn now.
She adjusted her glasses and sent the screenshot to Vanessa.
Before taking a shower, Vanessa heard her phone suddenly ring.
"Isn't he your boyfriend?" It was a WhatsApp message from Valeria.
"Wow, you saw it too," said Vanessa.
"The Internet is so advanced that the whole country knows it. Recently, people have come to ask me every day. I'm really distressed."
"You are a good actress," said her mom.
"Mom, he's really my boyfriend," said Vanessa.
Valeria didn't reply to Vanessa. Vanessa guessed that she must have fallen asleep.
She didn't care much about it but put down her phone and went to take a shower.
When Shawn entered the bedroom, Vanessa's phone on the bed was ringing.
He took a look at the caller's ID and knocked on the bathroom door.
"Vana."
Vanessa was taking a shower with music playing in the bathroom, so she didn't hear him.
But her phone was still vibrating.
Shawn didn't overthink but pressed the answer button.
"Vana, you haven't gone to bed yet. What are you doing?" Valeria asked.
"She is taking a shower," said Shawn.
All of a sudden, Valeria became silent.
She didn't speak until quite a while later. Her voice was as serious as a head teacher's.
"Who's this?"
Vanessa didn't dry her hair directly after taking a shower. Instead, she walked out in pajamas. She asked while wiping her hair, "Were you talking just now?"
Shawn sat on the sofa and glanced at her. "I answered a phone call."
Vanessa nodded and was about to go back to dry her hair. Suddenly, she heard Shawn say, "Your phone call."
"Em?"
Vanessa didn't reject Shawn to answer her phone. She asked casually, "Whose call? Ms. Lopez?"
"Your mother," said Shawn.
Vanessa, "..."
She turned around slowly and asked cautiously, "What did she say to you?"
Shawn didn't understand what Valeria meant by the last sentence, so he could only repeat it.
"She asked you to wait a little longer. She is on her way to Leonardo."
