Chapter 129 The Young Couple after the Cold War

Chapter 129 The Young Couple after the Cold War
Hubert looked at Teresa quietly.
He hadn't seen her for two days and suddenly felt that he liked to see her face.
The couple looked at each other.
In the end, Teresa broke the silence. "Wash your hands and help me serve the dishes. They are ready."
Hubert neither refused nor agreed. Instead, he pursed his thin lips and asked in a deep voice, "Why did you buy so much seafood?"
He hadn't received any spending messages.
Did she pay for the seafood with her own money?
The cold war was one thing. It was the husband's duty to provide for the family.
"How much did it cost? I'll transfer you the money. As I promised, I'll cover the living expenses."
Teresa looked back at the seafood she had cooked and replied with a smile, "I didn't spend a dime. Miss Lisbon came back from a seaside vacation with a lot of seafood and gave them to me for free. Ride Vivian back home later and bring some to your parents. They are really fresh."
Hubert's face slightly twitched.
It turned out to be a gift from Sophie.
They were supposed to be rivals in love but associated with each other due to the deliberate concealment of his identity. They were even developing a friendship.
"We can't accept rewards without merits. To repay her kindness, I'll transfer some money to you, and you will buy something for her."
Transferring money to Teresa was his purpose.
That was because they had deleted each other on WhatsApp.
Not that thick-skinned to request adding her back, he used the transfer of money as an excuse.
To accept his money, Teresa would have to tell him her WhatsApp ID, and he would have a reason to add her back.
Not thinking that much, Teresa turned down Hubert's offer. "Miss Lisbon and I are already friends. If I talk about money all the time, she'll be upset, thinking that I look down on her."
"Besides, I gave Miss Lisbon some dating tips, and the seafood can be seen as the consulting fee."
Hubert was speechless.
"Go wash your hands and help me serve the dishes. Seafood doesn't taste good when it's cold."
With a plate of shrimp in her hand, Teresa went around Hubert to head out.
"Teresa."
Hubert called out in a low voice.
Teresa stopped in her tracks, looked at him, and asked, "Anything else?"
Hubert looked at her but knew not how to bring it up.
Teresa lost her patience and intended to continue her way out. Instead of voicing his intention to make peace with her, he said, "Not really."
Teresa glared at him and then went out of the kitchen.
Hubert was left there all alone.
He was a little upset.
One minute later, he washed his hands and helped her serve the dishes.
The seafood given by Sophie was various. Teresa cooked some of each type, and the dishes spread out on the table.
Gwendolyn bought several bottles of drinks.
They sat around the table and enjoyed the meal.
Andy had a good time too.
He liked shrimp very much.
He was too young to peel the shrimp and needed his mother's help.

Teresa loved her nephew like a son and believed that her sister should be exhausted from hunting for a job, so she put on a pair of disposable gloves, peeled shrimp for her nephew, and said to her sister, "Leila, you can enjoy your food. I'll take care of Andy."
"It's okay. I can handle it."
Leila picked up some fish for her son and urged him to try something other than shrimp.
Vivian was impressed by their sisterhood.
Noticing that her grandson was bending his face over his plate instead of picking up food for his wife, she secretly kicked his feet under the table.
Hubert looked at his grandmother. His dark eyes were dim and innocent-looking. It seemed that he didn't take the hint.
Vivian was dismayed.
Her husband and she had spared no effort to train Hubert as their successor. They had put in so much, but the results weren't so satisfactory.
She was satisfied with his ability.
After the Donovan Group was handed over to Hubert, it thrived and grew faster even than the Lisbon Group.
But when it came to his love life, Vivian felt that her grandson was a total loser.
"Peel some shrimp for Teresa."
Vivian had to remind Hubert in a low voice.
This was such a great opportunity, but her grandson didn't know that he should seize it.
Hubert's thin lips pursed.
She had hands.
Vivian knew the kid she brought up well. As soon as Hubert pursed his lips, she figured out what was on his mind.
She glared at him.
Hubert remained silent, took out a pair of disposable gloves from the box, put them on, reached out to grab that plate of shrimps, and said blandly, "Teresa, go ahead and enjoy your food. I'll peel them for Andy."
Vivian was speechless.
She wanted him to show his care for Teresa and not Andy.
He was hopeless.
What a fool!
Teresa hummed in consent and took off her gloves.
Hubert peeled fast. Soon, there was a pile of shrimp meat in Andy's bowl.
He was still peeling, but the meat was put back onto the plate this time.
When it was done, he put the plate in front of Teresa without saying anything or even taking a look at her. Then he took off his gloves.
He naturally picked up his bowl and had a sip of soup.
He had to say that Teresa was really good at cooking.
Even a fastidious eater like him ate with relish.
Although Hubert didn't explicitly show his care for Teresa, everyone could tell it from his action.
Vivian was not so content but made no comments.
She decided to talk to him when he came back to the old house.
It was an enjoyable meal.
After lunch, Hubert cleaned the table.
Gwendolyn and Leila didn't want to trouble him, but Vivian said, "Let Hubert help. The children of our family work and do chores."
Hubert seemed to be muttering something, but even he didn't know what it was about himself.
Teresa was afraid that Hubert would get the sink full of bubbles again and thus went to the kitchen with him.
"Grandma said she would ask Chad to take her home after dinner."
Hubert spoke to his wife in a deep voice, "I'm going to work."
It was not that he didn't want to take his grandmother home. The old lady was reluctant to part with her granddaughter-in-law.
"It's okay."
"You can go. I'll clean the dishes. You can go back to the office and have a rest."
Hubert was squeezed away from the sink by his wife. He quietly looked at her side face.
She was so beautiful!
