Chapter 127 Here Is an Out, Take It or Leave It
Oliver turned a deaf ear to Jenny's abuse, ended the conversation with Bobby, and hung up the phone.
After that, he let out a deep sigh.
He doubted if Teresa was protected by God. There were so many of them, but they couldn't upset her at all.
He had a feeling that someone was backing Teresa up, but the identity of that person was unknown.
All the mediators were unwilling to help, which showed that Teresa's patron should be very powerful in Watenll. However, their investigation of Teresa and Leila led to no such great figures.
Leila's husband was a manager in a large company. At the end of the day, he was still a worker. They were not certain what Teresa's husband did for a living but learned from the villagers that he was driving a US-made car that cost 10,000 or 20,000 dollars.
Every one of them was driving a better car.
It meant that Teresa's husband wasn't doing quite well.
If Teresa really had any patron, it should be her bestie, Miss Gaston, who was a native of Watenll city. Her family was rich. It was said that her aunt married into a noble family. Was it that chick who was helping Teresa?
After Troy was arrested by the police, Teresa had been expecting the visit of those seniors. She had gotten mentally prepared.
But those old fellows still hadn't shown up till noon.
Vivian didn't let Teresa call Hubert. She made the call herself.
When Hubert received the call from his grandmother, he had been out of the company in his car. He was going to Watenll Hotel for lunch.
Morgan's car followed behind. They had made an appointment to eat together.
"Grandma."
Before Vivian could say anything, Hubert asked in a deep voice, "Did you help me ask that question?"
"What question? Did you ask for my help?"
Vivian didn't remember.
The car screeched to a sudden halt.
Without turning a hair, Hubert paused and continued the conversation with his grandmother, "When did she come back last night? You agreed to help me ask her but haven't given me an answer the entire morning."
Steven looked back at Hubert, who was talking to the old lady. When there was a chance, he reported in a hurry, "Sir, it's Miss Lisbon again."
Sophie had been waiting at the entrance of the office building the entire morning.
She wanted to invite Hubert to dinner and give him a gift.
Learning her lesson, she didn't block Hubert's way with her car. It might be busted again.
She used her body to block his way, which would not disturb the traffic.
Hubert didn't even take a look at the woman outside.
Vivian laughed on the other end of the phone, "I totally forgot, but it's okay. You can ask her yourself. You're having the lunch break, right? Come over and eat with us. I'm still at Teresa's store, and she is cooking seafood in the kitchen."
Hubert thought of the current situation. His wife and he were still in a cold war. He had deleted her on WhatsApp, and she had added his number to the blacklist.
Truth be told, ever since he owned his first phone and number, he hadn't been blocked by anyone. Teresa was the first one.
"I'm going to our hotel to eat with Morgan."
Hubert refused to go over for lunch. That was like bowing to her.
He found it hard to bow his head although he felt responsible for their cold war.

In his grandmother's words, he was stubborn as a mule.
"No, I've told Teresa that you're coming over and asked her to cook more food. If you don't come, the food will be wasted. Come on, we're going to have a feast. The seafood is fresh and given by Sophie."
Hubert frowned and asked in a low, cold voice, "Why did she give seafood to Teresa?"
"Heh heh, because of you. Listen, Teresa is helping Sophie to court you. Ha-ha, this is funny. It's the first time I've seen such a thing in my life."
Vivian went outside to tell her grandson about that. She was afraid of getting heard by Teresa and her sister.
Leila had returned to the store without any success with her job.
Hubert was not happy.
What was that tone? She was gloating.
"You're coming for lunch, period. Do you want me to tell Teresa that you're the young master of the Donovan family? I'm giving you an out, and you're unwilling to take it. One more thing, the gift that Sophie wants to give you is taken from Teresa. As for what it is, you'll know after you accept it."
Hubert's face darkened further.
His grandma had promised him that she would not interfere with Teresa and his business.
But now, she was threatening him with his identity.
He directly hung up the phone. The old lady didn't mind it at all. She was going to end the phone call anyway.
"Sir, Miss Lisbon refuses to give way."
The driver looked back at Hubert and reported.
Hubert was silent for a minute before he suddenly opened the car door and got off.
Thrilled to see him outside, Sophie immediately went up with the box that contained the pair of phoenixes. With admiration in her pretty eyes, she looked at Hubert. His face was stony, but it didn't affect his charm.
He was so hot!
He was so cool!
She really liked his look.
"Young Master Donovan, this is for you. Thank you for helping me out in the morning. I don't like to owe people. To return your favor, I'll treat you to dinner. How does it sound?"
Sophie presented the box with both hands and looked at Hubert expectantly.
She thought that Teresa's approach was working.
Hubert had gotten out of the car to face her. That was progress.
Hubert stared at the box.
According to his grandmother, the gift was taken from Teresa.
Presumably, it was a handicraft made by her.
He was upset back when he learned that she had given the fortune cat to Sophie. To make it up to him, she promised to give him another fortune cat and a golden dragon, but he still hadn't received the gift.
Did she give them off to Sophie again?
Hubert wondered and instinctively took the box from Sophie's hands.
In her presence, he opened the car and took the gift out. It was a pair of phoenixes.
"Do you like it, Young Master Donovan? I think the two phoenixes are beautiful and lifelike."
It was a big surprise for Sophie that Hubert took the box and opened it.
She grinned and looked at him with adoration.
Hubert was relieved that Teresa didn't give off the gift she prepared for him to Sophie.
Hubert put the two phoenixes back, threw the box back to Sophie, and got back into the car.
He pretended that he hadn't heard her dinner invitation.
"Steven, drag her aside."
Back in the car, Hubert instructed Steven in a deep voice.
Steven carried out the order.
He dragged the woman to the side. Pissed off, Sophie stepped on his foot, and he grimaced in pain.
