Chapter 126 Escalated Conflict
At a hotel not far from Watenll Central Hospital, Troy's parents knocked on the door to Tom's room.
Tom opened the door, saw their worried looks, and asked with concern, "What's wrong? You look upset."
"Troy still hasn't come back since he went out yesterday. We're worried about him."
Troy's father was the youngest child of his generation. His parents loved him the most and named him Bobby, meaning beloved baby.
"Did Troy mention where he was going to?" Tom, the eldest child of his generation, stayed calm.
After a moment of hesitation, Bobby replied, "Troy said that he was going to settle the scores with Teresa and ask her to pay for Astra's medical bills. He still hasn't come back, and his phone is powered off."
Troy was in detention. His family hadn't learned about it, and his phone was out of battery.
Tom's face instantly fell. He scolded his brother and sister-in-law, "Did you just let him go? Teresa refused to yield an inch even in front of us. Can he make her compromise alone?"
From the dealings with his nieces, Tom realized that they had underestimated the two children of his third brother.
Teresa alone was hard to deal with. They had suffered great losses from her.
They didn't get the money but got their reputation tarnished. Their children were suspended, and their businesses were affected.
They planned to go and talk to Teresa again, but his two sisters were not available. They had to change the schedule and make it the weekend. Everyone would have time by then.
They were seniors to Teresa after all.
She might compromise for their sake.
"We couldn't stop him."
"He is young and impulsive. Oliver told me that Troy wanted to smash Teresa's store last time. Go to Teresa's place and ask her if Troy caused her trouble."
Bobby and his wife were worried about their son. They took Tom's advice and quickly turned to leave.
"Wait, I'll go with you."
Tom was the eldest child of his generation and the big brother of Teresa's father. Back in the day, he was on good terms with Andrew. Although he was not happy that Emma didn't give birth to a son, Andrew liked her daughters pretty much. For the sake of Andrew, he was nice to Teresa when she was a child.
He believed that Teresa might relent for his sake.
Tom was flattering himself. He was nice to Teresa, but after her parents passed away, he worked with his parents to take away the compensation, chase away his minor nieces, and hog her parents' properties, which had offset his kindness to her.
"Just a second, I'll change and go with you."
"Should we bring Oliver and Petter along?"
Two heads were better than one. Bobby wanted to call on his most capable nephews to go with them. That would bring him more confidence.
"Okay."
Tom had the same thought, approving of bringing his son and nephew along.
Bobby called Oliver, and the latter said, "I was going to call you. Troy is in trouble."
Bobby turned pale and asked in a hurry, "What happened? He said he was going to ask Teresa for money. Did Teresa hit him? If that hussy dares to get her hands on Troy, I'll fight her to the end and dig her mother's grave."
Teresa's father was his third brother. Bobby would not dig Andrew's grave. Emma was not related to him by blood. If Teresa got under his skin, he would definitely raze Emma's grave to the ground.
"Troy intercepted Teresa's car in the middle of the night with a few punks. They tried to hit Teresa with iron bars and met with her resistance. Now those punks and he are in detention. I just received the news."
"Detention? It's a domestic conflict, and Teresa called the police? That hussy is ruthless to have my son arrested. Oliver, can we bail him out? Troy is still a child. I'm afraid he couldn't take it."
Bobby was exasperated to learn that his niece called the police to arrest his son. He blamed Teresa for being merciless and then worried about his son. He wanted to bail his son out as soon as possible.
"Troy was impulsive when we went to see her last time. In the dry tree, we'd better not play it the hard way, especially after Troy went to cause her trouble. Teresa's patron remains unknown yet. We can't act rashly."
Oliver said, "You should have stopped Troy. There is no kindness but only bad blood between Teresa, Leila, and us. She hates us to the core. Talking about family affection in front of her is pointless."
Everyone wanted Teresa to pay the bills. Oliver had no problem with that and just went with the flow. Deep down, he knew how cruel their family had been to Teresa and her sister.
Teresa had a reason to be ruthless to them.
Fortunately, the trending topic was no longer so heated. As long as they didn't ask for trouble, the netizens would forget the matter. By then, they could continue with what they were doing.
As for Astra's medical expenses and the fees of her follow-up treatment, Oliver believed that they could split it.
They were well-off after all. In the village, they owned villas.
They didn't have to wrestle with Teresa for just tens of thousands of dollars.
Teresa refused to pay the bills. What could they do about it? They had tried every means they could think of. What was the result? They fretted in their own grease.
"He was unstoppable. Oliver, should we get Troy out first or what?"
"We'll get him out and ask him if he hurt Teresa. If Teresa is injured, you will have to go and visit her with a gift, apologize to her, and dissuade her from pursuing Troy's responsibility, or there will be more trouble."
Oliver ran a small business and had seen much of the world. He was much more rational than Bobby.
When Jenny heard that, she cursed, "My son was arrested because of Teresa, and you want me to apologize to her? Dream on! I'm going to settle the scores with her. I'll smash her store and rip her mouth off. I'm not afraid of her patron or damaging my reputation."
In fact, their reputation had been damaged.
The villagers raked up the old grievances and pointed at their noses.
In Jenny's view, the villagers dared to accuse them of being heartless only when her mother-in-law was sick. If Astra were healthy, Jenny would have worked with her to upset the entire village. No one would dare chatter again.
