Chapter 036 My Husband Will Drive Me
The rest of the night, they didn't talk again.
The next morning, Teresa got up and went to the balcony to water her plants and flowers. Then, she watched those flowers for a while.
She had to say that every day when she got up and looked at this small garden, her mood became beautiful. So, all the discontent she had with Hubert disappeared. Thanks to those flowers Hubert had bought back, this small garden was beautifully arranged.
After adjusting her mood, Teresa went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for her and Hubert.
Soon, Hubert got up. He walked to the kitchen. Seeing that Teresa was busy making breakfast, he said, "Teresa, good morning."
Teresa turned her head to look at him, "Good morning."
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Not really. But if you're really bored, go help me dry the clothes and sweep the floor."
Hubert froze. He didn't expect her to order him to do the household so naturally.
But he answered, "Okay."
He turned around and walked away.
He went to help Teresa dry the clothes and then began to clean up the floor.
They were the only two people living in this apartment. Thye left home early in the morning and went back at night. The house was clean. But Hubert still swept every inch of the floor.
When Teresa finished making breakfast for two, she found Hubert hadn't even finished sweeping the floor.
"Why he takes so long?"
Teresa muttered, walked over, and took the broom from his hands. Hubert was speechless.
She was quick and finished the cleaning in a few minutes.
Hubert opened his mouth. He wanted to say something. But he didn't say anything in the end.
He took a few peeks at her. After he misunderstood her last night, she was so angry that she hit him.
Fortunately, she continued to make breakfast for him this morning. And her expression was not bad.
This girl had a tough character.
Now Hubert understood Teresa's character a little. She would like to solve the problem face-to-face and take revenge face-to-face. If she couldn't make that happen, she would wait for the right moment to seek justice. But she was nice and gentle as long as she wasn't being wronged or pissed off.
"If you want to look at me, feel free to do that. You don't have to peek. I know I'm pretty. I can at least get a runner-up in a beauty pageant."
Hubert couldn't help but laugh, "I thought you were going to say you would win."
Teresa said cheekily, "I like to keep a low profile. Even if I am capable of winning, I won't say so."
Hubert, "..."
After washing her hands, Teresa asked Hubert to join her for breakfast.
She made bagels and omelets today.
Each of them had one bagel and one omelet. And Teresa made a pour-over coffee for the two.
"I'll drive you to your bookshop later."
Hubert offered.
Without looking up, Teresa declined, "I'll get a taxi."
"Your bookshop is not far. I'll drive you there and then go to my office. I'm pretty free in the company. I can arrive a little late or leave a bit early. It's okay."
The Donovan Group was at his disposal.
He could come and go as he pleased. No one could or dared stop him.
"Well, sure. We should leave after breakfast. It's likely to get stuck in traffic during rush hour."
Hubert gave a light "hmm" as a response.
After all, she was his wife. He had a car and time. Obviously, he wouldn't give any chance to other men to drive her.
"Beep beep..."
Teresa's phone rang.
She had put her phone on the table during breakfast. They were now sitting on the same side of the table. When the phone rang, Hubert glanced at it. He was tall. Although he was sitting on a chair, he could see farther. He clearly saw the caller ID on her phone was "Handsome Boy Ezra".
Handsome Boy!
Hubert suspected that Teresa had a problem with her eyesight. Ezra was handsome. But how could Ezra be compared to him?
He was much more handsome than Ezra.
He wondered how did she note him on her list?
Hubert suddenly wanted to know.
Teresa answered Ezra's call.
"Teresa, good morning."
"Hey, you're calling me so early, what's up?"
"Teresa, have you had breakfast yet? How about I drive you to work? I can treat you to breakfast on the way. Or, you can treat me."
Ezra's voice was full of anticipation.
He had done Teresa a big favor last night. Today he had an excuse to pick up Teresa and buy her breakfast.
"No, thanks. I have made breakfast today. And my husband will drive me to my bookshop. You don't have to come all the way here."
Teresa didn't know about Ezra's crush on her. She simply felt that his residence was quite far from Florence Garden. It was likely to get stuck in traffic during the morning rush hour. She didn't want Ezra to come all the way here and end up getting stuck in traffic.
Ezra's expectations were gone when he heard Teresa's words "my husband will drive me."
Her words were like a basin of ice water that drenched him all over.
He had forgotten that Teresa was married!
Teresa had never had a boyfriend. But she got married all of a sudden. And she married a man she didn't even know well... Why couldn't she wait for him? Although he was young, he was willing to marry her. Unfortunately, Teresa never considered him as a choice.
She only treated him like a brother.
They had known each other for years. And since he began to know the feelings between men and women, he had secretly fallen in love with her.
But... His feelings were eventually lost in the wind.
"Well then, when your bike is fixed, I'll have someone deliver it to your bookshop."
Ezra felt bitter in his heart. But he kept his demeanor and didn't let Teresa notice that something was wrong with him.
"Thanks."
"Don't be like a stranger, Teresa. Then, I won't disturb your breakfast."
Ezra hung up the phone first. He was afraid that if he said more, the bitterness he had suppressed at the bottom of his heart would explode. He was afraid that Teresa would notice that something was wrong with him.
Hubert listened to the entire conversation between Teresa and Ezra.
When Teresa said "my husband will drive me", he actually smiled a little subconsciously. He didn't notice that it was his instinct.
Teresa had just put the phone down. But the phone rang again.
This time it was an unfamiliar number.
She hesitated for a few seconds. And then, she answered the call from this unknown number.
"Teresa, this is your big brother."
Hearing this unfamiliar male voice, Teresa frowned and instinctively asked, "Who are you? My mother only gave birth to me and my sister. We don't have a brother."
Just because her parents had no sons, her parents' estate and land were occupied by her uncles after her parents' death.
Because Astra and Robert Evans were still alive and lived in Teresa and Leila's old house. Teresa and Leila didn't go back there for many years and didn't want to file a lawsuit with their grandparents to get their house back.
"I'm Oliver Heller, your first cousin."
The man said his name.
Teresa thought for a moment. It seemed her eldest cousin in the Heller family was called Oliver.
"Yes?"
They hadn't contacted each other for years. So, he must come up with nothing good.
Teresa instantly built up a line of defense in her mind.
The Heller family was a long way from the city center. It would take more than an hour to drive there. So, they didn't know she was married, right?
If they dared to ask for money from Hubert as they asked for fifty thousand dollars from Patrick when he married Leila, Teresa swore to God that she would kick them out with a giant broom!
