Chapter 214 Develop a Feeling
Hubert opened the lid of the thermos lunch box while saying, "If you work in my company, you will know that there are so many managers and vice presidents there. Each of them is responsible for a different area. Anyway, there are ordinary employees and high-rank executives. I am like in between."
Teresa stuck her tongue out at him, "Luckily, I can't work for your company. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to remember so many managers' names."
Hubert stared at her and said, "You're doing fine. You have freedom. And your income isn't bad. Many people envy you for being a self-employed person."
"I don't like to be bossed around. So, as soon as I graduated from college, Gwen and I opened this store together. And thanks to the help of Gwen's family, otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten the official permission to run our store." It was not easy to set up and run a store near the entrance of the school.
"Did you buy that fortune tree from my online store?"
Teresa saw a potted fortune tree on Chad's desk.
Hubert gave an "uh" as a response. He didn't want to see that potted fortune tree. Because Chad had gotten it without spending a penny.
"Didn't you notice when you walked through the cubicle office area that everyone has a potted artifact on their desk? Some bought the fortune tree and the golden-coin tree, some bought the fortune cat. Whatever the artifact is, they bought it from your online store."
Teresa immediately felt a sense of achievement and laughed, "Thanks to your and Chad's recommendation. Sophie helped a lot too. She not only posted on her social platform to recommend my online store, but also asked her brother to buy my artifacts to display in his office, saying it would boost my business."
"Now, my income from the online store has exceeded my income from the bookstore."
One would be easier with more friends, and even better with a friend as helpful as Sophie.
Hubert didn't know what to say at the moment.
His wife actually had her artifacts displayed in his rival's office.
He hadn't successfully invaded the Lisbon Group, yet his wife had already made her way to the Lisbon Group.
'Well, not bad. My wife is as good as I am!' Hubert thought to himself.
If Teresa knew what he was thinking, she would definitely tell him to stop flattering himself.
Knowing that this office they were in belonged to Hubert's boss, Teresa didn't dare to walk around. So, she just looked around.
Then she looked back at Hubert, smiling and watching him as he ate, asking him. "How is it?"
"Mrs. Lawson's recipes are good. But I like your home cooking better. Yours tastes good."
"I think Mrs. Lawson's recipes are better than mine."
Hubert looked at her with a deep look. His implication was clear, even though left unstated.
Teresa felt her heart beat faster for no reason.
'What is going on?'
She had never blushed or panicked when he stared at her with his dark eyes.
However, when he stared at her now, she felt that her heart was racing. She wanted to escape but felt it was hard to do so, which was like a paradoxical state of mind.
"You really can't ask for a leave this afternoon?"
"Not this afternoon. Tomorrow I'll take the day off. Saturday and Sunday are after tomorrow, which equals three days off in a row."
Teresa puzzled, "Since you can't ask for a leave this afternoon, what do you ask for a day off tomorrow?"
"All the business that I have to deal with today is very important. I have to take care of those businesses today. There's no important business tomorrow. Even if I take a day off tomorrow, no one will say a word."
Teresa, "Oh."
"By the way, I just saw Chad and Grandma... Grandma looked upset. What happened?"
While eating, Hubert replied, "She had a row with my dad. Out of rage, Grandma left home and came to the office with her suitcase to complain to me and Chad. Grandma is going to stay at our house tonight."
"Why did they have a row?"
Teresa asked with concern. She remembered that her father-in-law was very filial to Grandma Vivian.
"I don't know. I asked Grandma, but she wouldn't say anything. I called Dad and asked him, and he didn't say anything either."
"Then we shouldn't ask. Since Grandma wants to stay with us, let her stay longer. Tomorrow, since you don't have to work, you can keep her company and cheer her up."
"If I stay with her, she will only be more unhappy. I don't know how to say anything nice. She doesn't like that. She prefers you."
Teresa said casually, "Then let's take Grandma out around together."
Hubert successfully carried his plan a step forward and he said, "Okay."
"There's a West Land Resort in the western suburbs. I'll take you and Grandma there tomorrow for a break." The day after tomorrow, Leila was going to negotiate a divorce with Patrick. As Leila's family, they had to go there to support her.
So he only had one day to date his wife.
West Land Resort was one of the Donovan family's properties. It was a commercially oriented one, so it was open to the public. A lot of people went there for vacation every year.
"I have heard that the place is beautiful and fun."
"I've never been there before either, so I don't know what it's like."
Teresa took out her phone and searched for pictures of West Land Resort. After seeing the pictures, she started to look forward to tomorrow.
Hubert, who said he had no appetite to eat alone, finished everything that Teresa brought to him in just a few minutes.
He wanted to clean the lunch box, but Teresa stopped him. "I'll do it. You've been busy all morning. Get some rest. Your boss's office is very cozy. You can take a nap on his couch. It will be more comfortable than taking a nap on your desk."
Her thoughtfulness made Hubert feel so sweet.
Hubert was really sleepy. While Teresa was cleaning his lunch box, he leaned back on the couch and fell asleep.
When Teresa came out of the bathroom, she found him asleep. She quietly walked back to his side and looked at him.
A handsome man would still look handsome even when he was asleep.
Teresa put down the thermos lunchbox, sat down beside him, and continued to enjoy his sleeping appearance.
This man was haughty and aloof. When they just got married, he didn't even want to talk to her.
She couldn't remember since when he started to treat her more gently and talked a little more. She felt that the trust between them was building little by little.
It was said that feelings were developed.
Teresa believed it now.
She did not dare to say that she and Hubert now had strong feelings for each other, but their relationship was definitely much better than when they just got married.
At least, he would care about her now. And she would be considerate of him.
While he was sleeping, Teresa reached out to touch his face, whispering, "The first time I touched your face, your reaction was so funny. You looked at me as if I was a pervert. Now I can touch your face as I pleased, hee hee."
Her laughter was quite proud.
Hubert thought, 'If you have balls, you should go further. Don't just touch my face.'
Teresa, 'I'm a girl. I don't have balls.'
"Hubert."
Teresa attached to his ear and said softly, "We are getting along well. Why don't we think about living like this for the rest of our lives? Let's not get a divorce, okay?"
Hubert, who was asleep, did not hear what she said.
Otherwise, he would be overjoyed.
If he had known she was thinking this way, he wouldn't have had to sneak into her room and secretly got back the agreement to destroy it.
"Well... Let's talk about it after the agreement expired."
Teresa felt that they hadn't spent enough time together. They shouldn't make a lifelong promise easily.
The agreement...
Teresa suddenly remembered that she put the agreement in...
She didn't care about the agreement, because she thought of him only as a living partner. So, she didn't even keep it properly. After she got the agreement, she casually put it somewhere in her bedroom. She seemed to have put it on her dresser.
