Chapter 174 Unhappy Again

Chapter 174 Unhappy Again
As soon as he woke up, Edward went downstairs. Sam said, "Mr. Smith, you have a package."
Edward knew what it was. It was already this moment, and the package should have been brought over. Sure enough, when he opened the express box, he saw a double-layer cake, with the top layer being 5.24 inches in diameter and the base being 7.86 inches in diameter. There was also a card lying next to the cake, on which were a few beautiful, neat words: "The cake today has less sugar than the one last night."
Edward had seen Jane's handwriting in Justin's place. Yes, this was her handwriting.
Sam stood facing Edward, but did not see the words on the card. Seeing Edward's happy face, he asked with a smile, "Sent by Miss Cooper?"
"Yes." Edward put down the card and picked up the spoon that had already been put beside him, scooping a spoonful and putting it into his mouth.
Sam said, "Miss Cooper was thoughtful."
Edward clarified, "Not made by her, but by her little aunt."
Sam immediately had a surprise in his eyes. "Have Edward and Jane reached the point that her family make food for him with their own hands?" he asked himself inwardly.
Edward looked up and asked, "Do you want to eat?"
Sam immediately waved his hand to refuse. "I don't... I'll ask someone to prepare drinks for you."
Edward sat on the sofa to eat the cake alone. His phone rang, and he answered the call.
A man's voice came from the phone, "Edward, guess who I saw just now?"
Focusing on eating the cake in a good mood, Edward joked, "Your ex-girlfriend?"
"No."
"Your stepmother?"
"No."
"Your stepfather?"
"Tut, not the one on my side, but on yours."
Edward licked the light cream on his spoon. It tasted slightly sweet, just perfect. Then a person's figure flashed into his pupils, and he asked tentatively, "Jane?"
"It's her."
"Where did you see her?"
"Peace Island. She came with Ken. There's also a very beautiful woman around her. Probably her friend."
Edward changed his expression slightly. The very beautiful woman around Jane was probably Ellie. Why had they gone to lunch with Ken?
Before he could say anything, his friend said in surprise, "Why does your tutor hang around with Ken? You don't know about it? Or you haven't reminded her yet?"
But Edward said calmly, "It's good enough if a tutor can make her teaching clearly understood. There's no need to have so much connection with her."
The man said, "Even so, you'll have to watch out for Ken. Who knows what he's thinking?"
Edward said lightly, "Got it. Continue your lunch."
After hanging up, Edward put down his spoon, suddenly losing interest in the cake that he had been expecting a whole night, and that he had loved so much half a minute ago.
She clearly knew that he and Ken were at odds, but she had gone to lunch with Ken in broad daylight. What was she doing?
Ken and Aiden were on the same side, and Aiden's man had just trapped her. Did she have a bad memory? Or was she stupid?
Edward got angry, his face turning dark. Someone had come over with a drink, thinking, "Sam said that Mr. Smith is in a good mood today, but why does he look so scary now?"
Without saying anything, the servant put down the glass and fled.
Edward leaned against the sofa, without an expression on his handsome face. After a short while, he phoned someone. The person answered his call, and Edward asked, "You haven't done it, right?"
The person answered, "No. He returned to Sea City yesterday afternoon. As soon as he stepped off the plane, he went straight to the company. It is said that he was handing in his resignation. He was making a handover. We hadn't had a chance."

Edward showed ridicule in his eyes. "Resign? Suppose this is the way out Aiden provides for Bobby. He's afraid that Bobby will drag him down if something happens to Bobby in the future."
"You don't have to do it for now. I'll take care of it," Edward ordered.
Jane was an idiot. She had accepted Aiden's cake yesterday, and she had taken her aunt to lunch with Ken today. Did she really know that the one who had trapped her was the two men's subordinate?
If she didn't know, he would let her know; if she knew.... then she was stupid! She was ruining herself!
Almost at the same moment, Jane suddenly turned aside to sneeze. Sitting opposite, Ken asked, "Caught a cold?"
Jane rubbed her nose and said, "Nothing. I'm a little allergic to mustard."
She didn't eat mustard, and Ellie had not eaten it. Glancing at the mustard on his plate, Ken said, "You can't even smell it? You should have told me!"
He wanted to ask the waiter to take the mustard away, but Jane stopped him by saying, "No need."
Ken said, "If I had known you don't like Japanese food, we would have gone to eat something else."
Jane said, "Anyway, I'm the host to treat you."
Ellie went outside to answer a call, and only two of them were left in the private room. Ken stared at Jane with eyes that seemed able to talk, meaning something. He said with a faint smile, "You suddenly become so nice to me, and I'm not really used to it."
Unwavering to his teasing, Jane said calmly, "I apologize to you for my previous suspicion of you. Sorry."
Ken sighed in a half-genuine and half-sham manner, "Alas, I'm a harmless man, but I don't know why I was unpleasant to your eye."
Jane lowered her eyes slightly. "I'm sorry."
Looking at her, Ken asked, "Have you ever suspected Edward?"
Jane raised her eyes with vigilance against the possibility of falling into his trap.
Ken said, "Look at you! I'm chatting with you, but you're afraid I'll then tell Edward? Do you think I'm so bored?"
Jane explained calmly, "I had no evidence, but I suspected you. It's my fault."
Ken narrowed his eyes slightly. "You've also suspected Edward?"
Jane did not reply, but Ken suddenly said with a broad smile, "Then I'm satisfied."
Jane did not know what she should say. This time she had treated them equally. It was she who had wrongly thought of others as bad people. Neither Edward nor Ken had done it, but she had never expected such a result.
Ken asked, "What is your attitude toward Bobby?"
He was serious, and this was rare. Jane answered, "Mr. Cater said he would expel him."
Ken said, "Anything else apart from that? If you're still angry, I'll vent your spleen."
Jane immediately shook her head and said, "No need."
"Why?"
It was because he was not her friend, and she didn't want to owe him a favor or even stay so close to him.
"He has been punished. He'll have a more difficult path ahead of him. He has been working hard for the past twenty years, but he ruined himself overnight because of a wrong thought. Thinking of this, I can swallow my anger."
Ken said, "This b*stard did something so immoral. He let me take the blame. I am still angry."
Jane looked down, not saying anything. If Ken wanted to get even with Bobby, that was his business. It had nothing to do with her.
How could Ken not notice the invisible shell Jane had put on her? He supported his head to study her. After a few moments, he made a sound, "Have you ever been in love?"
Jane looked up at him, but didn't say anything.
But Ken continued, "You've been cheated by handsome guys before, right? You have a prejudice against handsome men."
Jane did not answer, but Ken continued to nag, "I know a handsome man will make a girl feel unsafe, but men are different from one another. And I am the good handsome man who looks indecent but is in fact reliable."
Jane said calmly without blinking, "You are not my cup of tea."
