Chapter 16 An Involvement Certified by Family

Chapter 16 An Involvement Certified by Family
Listening to her words, Justin turned to be vigilant.
Seeing him sitting still on the sofa, Jane irritated him with a smile, "What are you afraid of?"
It was not a challenge to amuse a 12-year-old boy. Justin stood up, put down his IPad immediately, and said, "I have nothing to be afraid of."
Though Justin said so, he was ready for something scary inside when he stood in front of the box. He consoled himself secretly, "Don't be afraid! Don't!" Then, he untied the bowknot on the lid and opened it.
There was neither something scary inside, nor picture of flesh or blood. Instead, it was... very cute?
Jane bought two teacup puppies for him. Seeing his intent eyes on the dogs, she smiled, "I see you have many animals, so I think you'll like them."
"I don't like them" rushed to his lips. He was almost to say it. However, he heard his voice, "What's this? Bribes?"
Justin was pulling his face deliberately so as not to let Jane see through that he liked them in his heart.
Jane said in a soft voice, "Hey, I didn't give you any money. It's not a bribe. You showed me your pet, so it is at most a courtesy."
Justin resisted the urge to raise his hand to touch them, and said with a sullen face, "I'm not accustomed to getting things from others. I can afford it myself."
As soon as he stopped talking, the white puppy in the box stood up, clung to the edge by its claws and seemed to want to "break out" of the box. However, with its short limbs, it couldn't do that. It was quite clever. It took a turn around the box and stepped on the black one in the corner. Their brotherhood has all gone.
Seeing this, Justin took the white one away from the black one. The white one was so stubborn. It turned around and crawled back. The black one was so cowardly that it lay on its front motionless and let the white one trample on it.
Jane knew that he would like them. She pretended to say in a pitiful tone, "I know you can afford it, but they are living animals instead of a simple gift. I don't count on your appreciation of my kindness, but I beg you to have pity on them. Think about the low-level life they had in the pet store. They'll be happy by your side."
They would have very sheltered lives. He could absolutely catapult them to the happiest dogs in the world. Jane secretly thought in her mind.
Clearly, this was Jane's trick to ingratiate herself with him. Justin knew it well. However, it really pounced on his soft underbelly. He held a puppy in his palm and looked at it. After a moment of silence, he said with pretended indifference, "Well, for their sake, I'll take them. How much are they? I'll give you the money."
Jane replied solemnly: "Don't do that or else your families will regard it as a business."
With all his concentration on the dogs, Justin didn't reply. Jane calmly took out the textbook, pen, and paper from her bag, and said what she learned from the pet store owner "casually". Sure enough, Justin talked with her. He also said that he would take them to the pet clinic for a detailed examination.
Jane didn't cater to him or said to go with him immediately. She couldn't be eager for success. She needed to slow down and be steady. This was just a beginning. There was a long time ahead, so she planned to forge a good relationship step by step.
The two chatted for a while, and then they heard someone knocking on the door. Sam's voice came, "Young Master?"
Justin stood up to open the door, still holding the dog in his arms. Perhaps he forgot to put it down or perhaps he loved it too much. Jane didn't hear any sound. After a while, the sound of footsteps approached and Justin came back.
He put the dog on the spacious sofa and offered to say to Jane, "Do you want to live in peace with me?"
Jane looked at him, but couldn't figure out what he was thinking about. So, she nodded her head and said, "Well, yeah~"

"Do me a favor. I'll let you be my teacher and won't make any trouble in the future," Justin said.
That must be a trap behind, Jane thought. She seemed happy on the surface, covered up her extreme suspicion, and asked, "What can i do?"
Justin said, "There's a woman downstairs. I don't like her. Help me to turn her away."
"Who's she?" Jane asked.
"A woman who is always badgering the person who pays you wages," Justin replied.
He said in a roundabout way. It took a little effort for Jane to understand what he meant a woman who pestered Edward.
What a great joke! Who was she to Edward? Jane thought and smiled back, "My dear student, I can't help you. I'm just an outsider."
Justin stared her face and said, "Whether you are depends on my decision."
Jane was unable to retort for a moment, surprising that children nowadays were so shrewd. Justin was so good at manipulating! After a pause, she advised in a gentle voice, "Justin, it's not that I don't want to help you. It's ......"
Before she could finish her sentence, a female voice came from the outside room. "Justin?"
Justin kept silent at first, and then spoke out, "Come in, please."
From the word "please", Jane immediately knew that the woman might not be an ordinary person or else this little devil wouldn't be so polite to her!
As expected, when the door was opened, the person who appeared in front of Jane was a well-dressed beautiful woman. She was quite exquisite, extravagant but not vulgar. There were no obvious accessories to show off her wealth. Her made-up was light but delicate, which highlighted her personal temperament.
Obviously, the woman was not expecting anyone else to be in Justin's room. When she met Jane's gaze, her smile faded slightly.
Jane stood up and nodded politely to her. So did the woman. Then, she walked in. She shifted her eyes from Jane and settled on Justin and smiled slightly, "I don't know you have guest here."
Justin held the teacup puppy in his hand and spoke back, "My tutor."
The woman laughed, "When was it settled down? I heard it took a long time to find a tutor for you."
Jane quietly walked towards the door. Before she walked out, she heard Justin behind her say in a meaningful tone, "I can't make that decision. As long as he likes her, she can be my tutor."
Jane's footsteps were halted as she intuited that someone was looking at her. She turned around and saw that the woman was indeed looking at her.
Justin added fuel on the fire, "Miss Cooper is very good to me. I'm very happy. No wonder that he is always persuading me to accept her."
Jane was embarrassed and felt like there was a fishbone getting stuck in her throat. She tried to explain, but the woman looked away from her deliberately and said with a faint smile, "I've just returned to S City. I brought you some gifts and left them downstairs. I don't keep you a moment. Go on with your class. I'll come back to see you another day."
Justin said, "He's not at home. You can give him a call."
The woman said, "His phone's off. He's probably busy now."
Justin said in a neutral voice, "He has two mobile phones. The one you called should not be the personal one." He suddenly looked at Jane. Jane had a bad instinct immediately. However, faced with an unknown trap, she had no idea of where to hide. What she could do was to tolerate it.
Justin politely said to Jane, "Miss Cooper, please make a phone call and tell him that Miss Brown is here."
Jane was just about to say that she didn't have Edward's number when Justin, as if he had known that she would say so, preempted her, "He has instructed me that you have his personal phone number. Please call him home for Miss Brown."
Even though Jane was much older than Justin, she still wanted to clap and roar out her approval for his words. How could he be so manipulative at such a young age? His loaded words even made her believe that she really had an unspeakable affair with Edward.
