Chapter 159 Ten Years of Allegiance Is Not Worth the Conscience
Most of the people at Aiden's birthday party didn't work in S City, where they came specially that day. They left immediately after the birthday party. After hearing from Ken, Aiden organized to meet some of them again in S City, who were all local friends there.
There were other activities after the meal. But everyone knew that Aiden didn't like sensual occasions, so they didn't stop him from leaving. The rest of the them went out to play together and stayed at the hotel that night.
Aiden had already spoken to the nightclub in private, and the next day he received some information from various hostesses about whether anyone had any special hobbies. The result was that most of them were quite normal, with some enjoying cosplay or using some tools like whip and small candles.
Excluding those in the S City, people from other places could only be tested one by one. After a few days, Aiden finally got a message from a hostess in H city that one customer she served liked to drug people, whose name was Bobby Smith.
It might have been an accident just for one time, so Aiden patiently tried it again. It turned out that Bobby was not just on a whim, instead, he was obsessed with it.
Aiden couldn't stand it anymore, so he called Bobby, asking him to come to S City.
Bobby was puzzled. He asked on the phone, "What's the hurry?"
"Come here and we'll talk face to face," answered Aiden.
Bobby smiled and said, "Don't be so serious. Tell me first whether I'll get a promotion or a demotion?"
Bobby was still joking up to this point, completely unaware that he had slept with two hostesses recently, which made him in big trouble.
Flying from H City to S City, Bobby gathered with Aiden. He asked casually, "Tell me, what happened that you have to call me for an interview?"
Looked as indifferent as usual, Aiden asked, "Did you do anything to Jane on my birthday?"
Bobby's smile showed embarrassment for a moment, and then his eyes were full of surprise. "Beautiful junior female schoolmate, why did you suddenly mention her? It was the first time that we had met each other. With everyone there, what can I do to her?"
Aiden didn't say any word. Whether he was indifferent in his normal state, or indifferent because of something unhappy, Bobby could easily distinguish it at a glance. At that moment, it was obviously the latter.
Bobby couldn't help sitting up straight, and asked in a relaxed manner, "What happened to her?"
Aiden's thin lips moved. "She was drugged."
Bobby stared and replied, "When? On that party?"
Aiden was noncommittal. "Why are you looking at me like this? Do you think I did it?" asked Bobby.
"You can't play jokes on this kind of thing. How could you think it's me? Before I got there, I didn't know who else would come. Besides, you were all there, and Jane left before us... Oh, can you just say something? It makes me panic."
With his face being pale, Aiden replied, "You have a hobby in this area."
Bobby and Aiden looked at each other. Bobby's lips moved almost invisibly. After a while, his voice was very soft. "What do you mean?"
"You have a habit of drugging people," answered Aiden.
Bobby didn't blink. He asked, "You investigated me?"
"You have been with two hostesses recently, and both of them were drugged. Whether you did it before, I don't want to investigate."
Bobby suddenly turned hostile and exclaimed, "This is what you mean by no desire to investigate?!"
After saying that, he didn't wait for Aiden to respond, but sneered and continued, "Aiden, how many years have we known each other? Now, you should ask someone to secretly investigate me!"
Aiden's expression didn't change. "I'll just ask you one question. Did you drug her?"
Bobby shook his face and answered without thinking, "No."
While Aiden couldn't be shaken, he replied, "You know I can find it out."
Bobby looked at Aiden with a cold face and asked, "What do you want to do? Press my head to force me to confess?"
"I want the truth," answered Aiden.
They have known each other for nearly ten years, so how could Bobby not know Aiden's stubborn temper? Never would he easily change his mind.
The two of them confronted each other for a moment. Then Bobby simply nodded and said, "Okay, if you want the truth, I'll tell you it. It's me, so what do you want?"
Aiden stayed silent for a moment. Then he asked, "The reason?"
"It's fun," answered Bobby.
With a cold face, Aiden didn't speak for a while.
At first, Bobby kept angry, too. But then, the anger was turned into helplessness. He turned his head and said to Aiden, "I didn't know that she would leave that night. I wanted to keep her for you, as you could see, I persuaded her for a long time. But you let her go with a single word..."
With eyes full of coldness, Aiden said, "You don't think that you have done it wrong until now?"
Bobby frowned, seemingly annoyed. He didn't answer the question, instead, he asked: "Did something happen to her outside? I don't want it either. No one expects the benefits to be gained by others."
After his saying, Aiden suddenly picked up the folder in front of him and threw it directly on Bobby's face, who didn't expect it and was hit head-on. The folder itself wasn't heavy, but its corners were sharp. Bobby only felt a chill on his forehead. He raised one hand and touched it in shock, only to find that his fingertips were instantly stained with blood.
He stopped talking, and didn't even dare to look up at Aiden across the table.
Aiden was really angry.
"I can't control what you do outside, but now you should dare to do such things in front of me."
Bobby's anger was completely smashed by the folder. He carefully looked up at Aiden and asked tentatively: "Do you like Jane?"
"If I don't like her, you can casually drug her?" replied Aiden.
Bobby lowered his eyes to cover his unconvinced expression and said something against his heart, "It's my fault. I won't do it in the future."
"There is no future." Aiden's voice came from the opposite side.
Bobby raised his head and exclaimed, "...What do you mean by no future?"
"I can't work with you anymore," answered Aiden.
Hearing this, Bobby changed expression. Staring straight at Aiden, he asked, "Are you serious?"
Aiden looked away and took out a piece of paper from the drawer, which was a printed resignation letter.
Handing the thin piece of paper to Bobby, he said, "I won't fire you. Apply for resignation yourself."
Bobby looked down at the letter, and then looked up at Aiden. After surprise, he was expressionless. "Are you kidding me?"
"No."
With a frown, Bobby said, "I've known you for almost ten years since college. But now you're going to fire me because of a woman?"
Bobby himself didn't believe it. He always felt that he was a capable talent of Aiden. In fact, the other people also believed that. Now that he had acted as the manager of a branch company in one city, how could Aiden fire him so easily?
The anger on Aiden's face had dissipated, and it turned into daily indifference. He answered, "I am not firing you for a woman, but for my conscience, and for the future development of the company. We have known each other for nearly ten years, during which you have helped me a lot, so I would give you nothing less, including your face and honor outside."
Once Aiden decided, nothing could make him change his mind. Seeing that he was serious, Bobby experienced from shock and calm to panic. "Aiden, I treat you as a brother so I tell you the truth, please give me another chance..."
