Chapter 153 Justin Is Here. Don't Be Afraid.
Justin and Henry knew that Jane was sick and needed to rest, so they didn't go to her home after leaving the Forward Education and went home respectively by car. When Justin just arrived home, Sam told him that he had a parcel.
Justin opened the box and found several large and small bottles and jars filled with stewed pears with sugar, and strawberry and pomegranate juice inside. There was a note at the bottom, which read, "It is for the prevention of colds and coughs. I made a lot, so I share with you."
Justin recognized Jane's handwriting, and only she would send food and drink to Justin.
Justin took a bottle of each kind and went to Smith's room. It was only ten o'clock in the morning, but Smith didn't sleep because the doctor had just come over to give him an injection. He couldn't sleep without turning over, so he rest with his eyes closed.
Hearing the sound, Smith opened his eyes, and Justin said, "Uncle Edward."
Smith didn't say anything, thinking that Justin usually didn't get up early, but in order to show Jane's friendliness, he was willing to get up early.
Justin came to the bedside, raised the bottle in one of his hands, and asked, "Which one do you want to drink?"
Smith said, "Neither."
Justin said, "This is for coughs."
Smith took a look at the bottles, and it didn't look like something made outside, so he asked, "Where did you get it?"
Justin said, "The Bad Teacher made it."
Smith asked, "Did you go to her again?"
Justin replied to him, "No, she sent it to me by special delivery."
When he said this, Justin inevitably showed a little smugness under his eyes, as if he was retorting to what Smith said yesterday. Smith said Jane just treated Justin as her work and was not on his side, but today Jane took the initiative to send Justin drinks.
Smith saw through what Justin thought in mind, so he said without any expression, "A small favor could buy you off."
Justin said, "At least no one else ever sent me."
While saying this, Justin casually unscrewed the bottle of stewed pears with sugar and handed it to Smith.
Smith didn't take it over, and he said with some seriousness and tease, "Keep it for yourself to drink."
Justin said, "I told her yesterday that you had a cough, and she sent something over today, half of which was for you."
Hearing the words, Smith looked at Justin without speaking.
Justin said frankly, "I don't cough, so if she simply send me them to drink, she won't write on the note that 'to prevent colds and coughs'. Clearly she let me take it to you."
Smith kept silent for a while and said, "Why did you mention me to her?"
Justin said, "She was sick with a cough and took two days off, so I said you also had a cough and mentioned it casually."
Justin mentioned Smith's cough casually, but Jane took it to heart and immediately sent condolences over, although it was by special delivery.
Smith had known Jane for some time, and he knew that she seemed to be kind but was actually cautious. She might feel guilty, but she didn't want him to misunderstand, so she sent the gift in this way.
Justin said, "Uncle Edward."
Smith said, "Emm?"
Justin said, "You really didn't fight with the Bad Teacher, did you?"
Justin said seriously, even with some rough feelings.
Smith didn't answer but asked, "Are you afraid that I will fire her?"
Justin looked somewhere else and said, "You don't fire me, so what am I afraid of?"
Smith said, "You woke up so early, and then you went to sign another contract with her. You just want to tell me that you are happy with her, right? I know you're going all around the houses."
Justin didn't deny it and said as usual, "She isn't from S City, and she only has Hunter as her friend. The time I get along with her is longer than yours, and she is quite nice."
Smith said, "If she was bad, would I let her teach you?"
Justin raised his eyes to look at Smith, "Then please don't get angry with her. You always say that men shouldn't nurse every single grudge with women."
Smith slightly raised his eyes and said, "When did I do that?"
Smith denied himself and said, "No, when did I say I was angry with her?"
Justin said without blinking, "It's obvious."
Smith was speechless. He had never mentioned a word about Jane, and he thought his words to Justin were also neutral. How did Justin think that he definitely got angry with Jane?"
Smith confirmed his answer, "I'm not angry with her."
Justin said, "I want to introduce her to my father, and one big reason is that I'm afraid you can't get along with her and then make everyone embarrassed."
He said seriously, and Smith couldn't help but smile, saying, "Are you embarrassed now?"
Justin said without any expression, "I'm fine."
Smith wanted to laugh even more and said, "Will you think too much? What makes you think there is a problem between me and Jane?"
Justin immediately replied to him, "You don't drink anything she made."
Smith was choked and speechless at once.
It said that children always know the truth. Sometimes, they judged something not by thinking but by observing. If something was extremely abnormal outside, it must be abnormal inside.
Smith could think of many kinds of counterarguments, but he had a more quick way. He picked up the bottle, took a large swig, and then said to Justin, "How about now?"
Justin said, "I'll believe you if you drink it up."
Smith said with a little mockery, "Do you want to trap me? Just you?"
Justin said, "She also asked me to put cough the medicine in your food, but I didn't agree."
Smith said, "You always listened to her, so why did you say no?"
Justin said, "You are my own uncle. Of course, I am on your side."
Smith instantly felt happy. Justin knew that he need to treat his uncle well because he was raised by Smith.
They chatted in the room, and during their conversation, Smith reminded him, "Don't stay in my room for too long. Be careful of the coldness."
Justin took a swig of strawberry and pomegranate juice, shaking the bottle in his hand and saying, "I'm okay."
Smith said, "You think it's a panacea, don't you?"
Justin said, "It's much better than the medicine. At least I'm in a good mood when drinking it."
Yes, in a good mood.
Talking with Justin for a while, Smith found himself not so angry before, probably because Justin was considerate, or because the stewed pears with sugar were quite good. He tasted the sweetness, so he didn't feel sour in his heart.
A couple of days passed. On Wednesday, Jane came to the Smith family by car, and Sam greeted her with a smile, which was more amiable than before.
Jane went to Justin's room, and Justin was still asleep. She went to wake him up but failed. Then she took out a box of small cards and picked up one. Justin wrote something on the card, "Wake up by myself."
Jane put the card on Justin's head and said loudly, "Now, I'll use a 'wake up by myself' ticket, so you should get up quickly without any condition."
Justin sent a box of these tickets to Jane as her birthday gift. There were various kinds, including tickets for 'No need to sing', 'Be with the same football team', "Peel garlic and scallions", and "Do an errand"...
Jane used them so unexpectedly.
Justin pulled out a hand from the quilt and threw something. Jane looked at it carefully and found it was the little frog origami she made. She unfolded the little frog, on which were her words, "Sleep for another ten minutes."
In instant, standing by the bed, Jane couldn't help but laugh, and Justin also laughed under the quilt.
They perfectly showed that they were evenly matched in a contest as they even sent the same gift to each other.
