Chapter 200 Live Closer
In the evening, Jane received a message from Justin: No need to call me in the morning. I'll be at your house on time.
Jane was surprised and immediately replied: Really?
Justin wrote: Don't look down on me.
Jane expressed: There will be a penalty for being late.
Justin followed suit: what's the reward for me arriving on time or even early?
Jane said: As you like.
Justin replied: If I'm not late, we'll have dinner together tomorrow night.
Jane didn't even think twice: That's a deal.
On the following day, just after 9 am, Jane had just come back home when the doorbell rang. That was Justin.
Jane opened the door and looked at the refreshed and showy boy. She asked with suspicions, "Did you sleep well last night?"
Justin was in high spirits and said triumphantly, "Yes."
Jane didn't believe it, "You listened to my words and changed your routine?"
Justin said as he walked inside, "I'm congenitally adaptive."
Jane asked, "Catch up on your sleep well in the car?"
Justin thought, "What's the point of taking a car as we are neighbours and a few minutes away?
Of course, he was in no hurry to make it clear, sitting and watching Jane's startled and alarmed expression.
Over breakfast, Justin said, "You lost. We'll have dinner tonight."
Jane said quickly, "Don't worry. I'll take the bet."
Justin said, "You make dinner."
Jane raised her eyes, "You didn't mention I should cook the dinner."
Justin said, "Should I cook?"
Jane said, "I'll take you out to eat."
Justin said, "Don't bother. It's not easy to earn money, so I'll save you some money. We eat at home."
Jane glanced at him blatantly. She did not believe him.
"For the sake of your good behaviours today, I agreed."
Justin did not thank her. That's what he won back on merit.
Jane asked, "Will you go back home this afternoon?"
Justin said, "You should go to work later. Don't worry about me."
The two made arrangements for their dinner. The morning passed peacefully. After lunch, Justin carried cupcakes of sesame seed made by Jane and said loudly, "I'm going home ."
Jane got up to see him off, but Justin said, "I'm not three years old. I can find the way."
He was early today, so the class was also finished earlier. There was still some time before the afternoon class, so Jane couldn't go downstairs and go straight to another house. Justin didn't let her go downstairs, so she stood at the door and told him, "Send me a message when you get home."
Justin turned around and headed for the lift, "Got it. So nagging you are."
It was a three-minute walk from her house to where he lives now. Why should he call her?
Justin went back to building 1-202. He felt familiar with the house because he had been here many times. It didn't feel like changing his residency but rather like coming back home. He opened the door, and there were two small dogs, one black and one white, wagging their tails at the door. Edward suggested he take a pet no more than 30 centimetres long and tall, so he just brought two teacup puppies, which were gifts from Jane.
Justin changed his shoes and walked inside. The two puppies followed him so closely that he had to be very careful, or he would have stepped on them. He put the cake on the table, prepared two cans of dog food and bent down to put them in the corner. The two pups immediately buried their heads in food and stopped following him.
Justin walked up to the door of the main bedroom and knocked on the door.
When he moved in yesterday afternoon, he chose the secondary bedroom, leaving the main bedroom to Edward. Although a suite here was only as big as Edward's bedroom at home, they could only bear with that.
Edward came back in the middle of the night. He wasn't fussy about the bed, but he hadn't slept well all night for some reason. He heard Justin enter and knock on the door. He quickly responded, "Come in."
Justin pushed the door open. In the small room, he caught a glimpse of Edward, staying naked, lying against the bedside and smoking.
Justin asked in a good mood, "Uncle Edward, how did you sleep last night?"
Edward couldn't answer him honestly because living in the room Jane had stayed in and sleeping in the bed she had slept in made him so awkward that he lost sleep. He could only say, "It's okay. How about you. Have you finished your classes?"
Justin sat in the chair near the bed, putting one hand on the desk, and smugly said, "Bad Teacher doesn't know I've moved in here yet. We bet to see if I would be late today, and she lost."
Edward flicked his cigarette ashes. He was logy like Justin, who didn't sleep well yesterday, "You can ask more from him."
Justin's eyes lit up, "Okay. I let her come over tonight to cook for me and celebrate my housewarming."
Edward's expression changed slightly, "She will come here?"
Justin nodded, "I haven't told her yet. When she is off work, I'll just let her come over and give her a scare."
Edward asked casually, "Would she like to come over?"
Justin immediately looked suspicious, "Why wouldn't she?"
Because he was here too, Edward thought, but he said without changing his face, "If she knows you'd moved in here, she won't think it is so unusual for you to get up early."
Justin said, "I don't care. I can't wait to see her surprised expression now."
Edward said, "There's no need to call another person over to cook for you tonight."
Justin looked at him and asked, "Uncle Edward, do you have something to do tonight?"
Edward asked knowingly, "What for?"
Justin said, "If you're available, please have dinner with us. It's been a long time since the three of us have eaten together."
Yeah, she hadn't sit at the same table with him since he had argued with her.
He wanted to reject it, but after thinking twice, he gave an ambiguous answer, "Let's see."
Justin said, "Bad Teacher made cupcakes, which are your favourite sesame flavour. Do you want them now?"
Edward said, "How could you eat the dishes she made and brought cupcakes back ."
Justin said, "I did so because you love them."
Edward said, "If we were from a poor family, it would look like we were taking advantage."
Justin said, "Don't argue with Bad Teacher. We're all friends, so it's not awkward at all to give each other gifts and snacks."
Edward was shocked that Justin could see that he was embarrassed. He had to be calm at this point. His face didn't change, "Gifts blind eyes. Now you admire her a lot."
Justin said, "She's still getting paid by you. You can find opportunities to book more classes. It's called courtesy."
Edward put out his cigarette and pondered, "It seems to make some sense."
Justin was at ease, "Get up and clean up. The cupcakes are still hot. You can eat them."
Edward wanted to laugh at Justin's back as he walked out. In the past, Justin was not intimate with others, letting alone receiving a tiny favour. But now, after hanging out with Jane for a few months, his nature had changed a lot. Not only did he defect, but now he went home to persuade him to defect.
