Chapter 195 The Quarrel
Of course, Jane knew that this was not Edward's plan. If he was playing with her, even if he offered her a high price, she wouldn't have been happy with him.
Jane changed her breathing and thoughts covertly as she moved closer to the tea table. She took a seat and her expression was back to normal.
Alan took the initiative to pour her tea and said with a smile, "Sorry, Miss Cooper, you were scared, I'll make it up to you."
Edward was worried that Jane did not know who Alan Jones was and would not give him face. So he was about to help her out. But she said, "I'm fine, Mr. Jones, don't take it personally."
Alan's eyes were filled with laughter as he glanced at Edward, "Look, not only do you have guts, but you also have a good eye."
Edward thought of the words 'call the police' that Jane had shouted on the phone earlier, she must have been shocked and frightened. Now she did not make a sound, which is forcing her to swallow her grievances.
His heart softened at once. Edward looked at Jane and asked, "What do you want to eat, have them send something over."
He was completely unaware of the softness in his voice. Jane looked as normal, "Don't bother."
Alan took a glance at the interaction between the two and said to himself, "I want to eat too, ask someone to send some over."
Edward called the shopkeeper in and had refreshments and snacks prepared. Barlow also came back from outside and placed the phone he had found in front of Jane. Like a tightly woven spider web, the screen was destroyed.
Without altering her expression, Jane picked up the phone and stowed it away in her bag. Both Edward and Alan noticed it.
Alan seized the initiative and commanded, "Barlow, have someone go out and get Miss Cooper a new one."
Barlow turned and left. But Jane raised his eyes and said, "No, it's fine."
Alan said, "No need means you're still upset with me?"
It would be too untrue for Jane to claim against her will that she wasn't at all angry, so she was unable to respond for a little moment.
Edward said from the side, "Fourth brother bought it for you, so take it."
Jane didn't look at Edward, her eyes dropping slightly without saying anything.
Alan smiled lightly and said, "If I don't buy it for you, Edward will also buy it for you. By the way, Barlow didn't hurt you just now, did he?"
Hearing these words, Edward was so nervous, staring sideways at Jane to see what was wrong with her.
Jane shook her head slightly, "No."
Edward hesitantly said, "Are you OK?"
Jane said, "I just accidentally electrocuted Mr. Jones' person since I didn't realize he was your friend."
Alan felt that Jane was very good at talking and secretly praised her high emotional intelligence. He added out loud, "I teased her and asked her to call you. But she pulled out a fake phone and shocked Barlow, who grabbed her phone."
As he spoke, he looked over at Jane, "How's your hand doing? Be sure to say when you're not feeling well so that Edward can count your work injury."
Jane said, "Yes, I'm fine."
Edward almost said, "Show me," but the look on Jane's face stopped him from thinking that way. She didn't even glance at him.
Alan said to Edward, "You must treat Miss Cooper better, even if she is not hurt, you have to compensate her. Do you know how much you are worth in her heart?"
Edward did not say anything, but his heart was already upset. Alan could joke with him, but why bring Jane into it. Why bother her?
When he didn't say anything, Alan said to himself, "Ten billion. Ms. Cooper said I would give her ten billion before she would call you. I negotiated for a long time, but she wouldn't."
Shaking his head, Alan was quite emotional, "I don't have such a woman around me who would give up her life to protect me, let alone 10 billion, she would sell me for 100 million."
Hearing these words, Edward mixed feelings. He had always thought that Jane has a hot-faced and cold heart, but it turned out that she was so considerate of him at the critical moment.
He wanted to say something touching, but as soon as the words were out of his mouth, they turned bitter. Edward said, "Would you sell me if someone truly offered you 10 billion?"
Jane thought she had calmed down, but when the words came out, they were equally calm with a touch of gunpowder, "Ten billion is enough for me to take the risk."
Edward didn't expect her to say that and frowned slightly, "So the price is still not agreed upon."
Jane said, "Mr. Jones didn't have enough sincerity."
Alan laughed, "It's my fault, I didn't know that Miss Cooper had marked the price down. Next time I will definitely come back to you with enough money."
Edward looked at Jane, "Have I treated you badly?"
What he actually wanted to express was, "Have I not treated you well enough?"
Jane said, "I won't be able to make ten billion from you in this lifetime."
Edward pursed his sexy lips and remained silent.
Alan sat and watched the two quarrel. This was not a typical conversation between a client and a tutor.
It made him gag, "Don't be discouraged, Miss Cooper. How do you know you can't succeed if you don't try. I'll give you a trick, just say you're injured and ask for a thousand or eight million dollars in compensation from Edward, he's so generous. He won't bargain with you."
Jane seemed to smile while saying, "No one's money comes from the wind."
She was subtly responding to Alan and warning him not to say anything inappropriate. But as a result, Alan had his explanation, saying, "What, you still can't spare Edward's money?"
Without waiting for Jane's response, he looked at Edward and shook his head, "You are luckier than I am. My girlfriend spends my money so hard that she can max out her three credit cards. But she not only takes care of you when things go wrong but also takes care of you afterwards. You've been lucky since you were a kid, I'm a little jealous of you."
Edward felt that Alan's words were particularly pleasing to the ears, playing with his teacup with one hand, and said unconcernedly, "She is very understanding."
Previously, Edward was too embarrassed to compliment Jane in front of her, but this time he finally said it without feeling awkward.
He was proud of himself. Jane was on his right, saying, "It's not right for a girlfriend to spend her boyfriend's money, but at least it's not a big mistake. I'm just a tutor in Mr. Smith's family. You can't compare since it's not the same."
Edward drooped his eye with eyelashes blocking the look under his eyes.
Alan laughed and said, "With a man, it does not necessarily depend on what status he gives you, but mainly on what he has done for you. I said before that he beat up the education leader's son of Y City. How comes looking at you, it seems like you don't know yet?"
The moment these words came out, both Jane and Edward were frozen still. Jane really had no idea. As for Edward, he hated Alan's mouth, why did he say this in front of her?
Alan looked at the two of them in the same way and said while laughing, "What's wrong, can't you say this?"
At this point in the conversation, there was no need for Edward to talk tough, so he casually said, "Some people deserve to be beaten."
Alan said, "You are running a school in Y City, and offending the education leader of Y City. Although he will be retiring in the next two years, you are too insane."
Edward mumbled, "Am I afraid of him?"
Alan said, "The Y City forces are intricate. He does not dare to do anything to the face, but behind the scenes, he will definitely make life difficult for you."
Edward said, "If he dares, I will let him have no life."
