Chapter 196 Forcing Out the Other Man

Chapter 196 Forcing Out the Other Man
Knowing Edward could afford to be arrogant, Alan laughed lightly and said, "Fight for the sake of the fair-faced one, no wonder Miss Cooper treats you like this."
Jane had no choice but to replied him, but she also wondered why. She looked up at Edward and said, "Mr Smith, do you have a grudge against Andy?"
Edward didn't look at her, not change his face. He said calmly, "I just don't like him."
Jane could not read his mind. Alan said, "There must be a reason. I heard that Edward hit him because he had bullied you in the Y City."
The day has eyes, and the night has ears, not to mention that the man was severely beaten and hospitalized. What Edward had done could be hidden. Some people in the S City had already known what happened, not to mention that Alan had many henchmen in the Y City.
Hearing that, Jane looked at Edward again, who had to look back at her. Edward said, "Why didn't you tell me you were bullied? What's your mouth for?"
He had a bad tone, as if he was complaining, but he actually aimed to hide his embarrassment. He didn't want to take credit in front of Jane. He didn't expect her to be touched and grateful. It would be nice if she could not make him mad.
Jane didn't say anything. It meant that Edward admitted what he had done. She thought that the application of the school was not approved because of the conflict between Aiden and Andy.
But now she realized that it was because Edward had beat up Andy.
Seeing her surprised and bemused expression, Edward looked away from her. Alan smiled and said, "Edward, I should criticize you for this. Miss Cooper is such a nice person. I can't coax her out of it. How could you be so mean to her."
Edward said, "What's wrong with my attitude?"
Alan said, "I should give you a mirror, then you can look at your face. Are you unhappy to see her or to see me?"
Edward lowered his eyes and didn't answer.
Jane said, "Mr Jones, you misunderstand. We do not have any intimate relationship. Mr Smith is always very loyal to those around him."
Alan asked with a smile, "So why are you more loyal to him?"
Jane said, "Mr Smith is my client, and I must keep his privacy confidential, not to mention that even if we are strangers, I can't put someone else in danger for my safety."
Alan glanced at Edward's face and said deliberately, "So, it's not because Edward is special to you?"
Edward was nervous about her answer. Though he looked careless, he urgently waited for Jane's answer.
Jane knew that Alan was deliberately setting up traps for her words to make her relationship with Edward ambiguous. Instead of giving him a clear answer, she muddled the conversation, "Certainly, Mr Smith is very special to me as he is my first client in S City, and he helped me a lot. I'm very grateful to him."
Alan said, "No relationship other than a client?"
Without waiting for Jane's answer, Edward looked up, "When did you become a bride, Alan?"
Alan couldn't help himself, "I decided to be a bride when seeing Miss Cooper."
Edward said, "She's a teacher, so she's used to being serious. Please don't make jokes like that with her. She'll take it seriously ."
Alan said, "What's wrong with taking my words seriously?"
He looked to Jane, "Miss Cooper, what do you think of Edward?"
Jane said, "Mr Smith was excellent."

"And?"
"Mr Hones, this isn't dating, right?" Jane had a smile and no longer wanted to continue this topic.
Edward also interrupted, "Don't make jokes with her."
Alan was unimpressed, "Are you partial to her?"
Edward said, "She will not show any attitude toward you, but she will get mad with me ."
"really?" Alan's eyes were slightly raised, showing his surprise.
Jane looked calm, but her slightly twitching pupils proved that she was flustered. What did Edward mean? Was he raking up the past?
Edward was raking up the past, unpredictably but naturally.
Alan could not tell the relationship between them. It seemed that Edward had a crush on Jane, but she had no love for him.
A waiter knocked on the door and brought eight small plates of various snacks. Edward took a piece of snack and put it on Jane's plate. He said without changing his face, "You're a big help today. I want to thank you for not selling me out."
Jane paused momentarily, but she was relieved when thinking that Edward had helped her avoid being urged to drink.
He said thank you to her, so she could not say these words back to him. However, it was not suitable if she did not say anything. After thinking twice, Jane lowered her eyes and replied, "We just couldn't agree on the price
."
Edward wasn't angry this time. He followed her words, "That's a way to earn money. If someone asks you about me, you can tell him to take his money, and both of us get half of it."
Jane said, "I'm relieved to have your word."
Alan was a man of vision. Although he was the host, he seemed to be the redundant one now. After picking up his phone and giving it a couple of glances, he said, "Excuse me, I have to leave. Help yourselves."
Edward raised his head. Alan already got up, "I'll catch you later."
Edward and Jane both stood up. Alan smiled at Jane, "Miss Cooper, see you."
Jane nodded, and Edward walked him out the door.
Jane sat alone in the booth. She was no longer angry. All that came to her mind were Alan's words that Edward had beaten up Andy at Y City and what related to Beth Brown, which he had never mentioned.
It wasn't long before Edward returned, clutching a mobile phone case and a black mobile phone, which Alan had asked someone to pay Jane for. Edward held the phone for inspection, "Where's the switch?"
Jane said, "At the side, volume button."
Edward asked, "Is the power high?"
Jane said, "I haven't tried it."
Edward raised his eyes to her, "You usually bring these things to my house?"
Jane understood his implication and calmly replied, "I carry it with me all the time, and today it works."
It was just the two of them in the booth, and Edward spoke up, "I know neither that he would come to S City suddenly nor that he went to you. Call me directly next time."
He was a man, so he did not need her to carry the load? What if something happened to her?
Jane was not angry anymore. After hesitating for a while, she said, "Thank you."
Edward thought she would drop her mask as Alan had gone, but she showed her rare meekness. He asked, "For what?"
Jane said, "Your beating of Andy must have a huge impact on your business, right?"
She finally had a conscience and thought for him.
Edward lowered his eyes, lit a cigarette, then looked up at her and said, "What are you going to do if my business is influenced?"
