Chapter 186 Her Counterfire
Edward thought that Justin would privately ask what happened between him and Jane, but he didn't, and just went home by himself after dinner.
The next morning, when Jane came to the Smith family, Sam warmly welcomed her and thanked her for the cake she brought a few days ago. Jane chatted with him for a while and then went upstairs in slippers.
Justin was covered in the quilt. Jane opened the curtains, and sang awfully as usual and finally woke him up. "I just haven't been here for a few days and now you are sleeping in again. Get up and wash up, we're gonna eat shaomai and millet congee for breakfast today."
In fact, Justin has been awake for a long time, and he was just not sure if Jane would do as she did before. He couldn't see any difference on her face. "Why did your aunt leave so soon?" he sat on the bed and asked.
Jane said, "She doesn't want to disturb my work."
Justin said, "How I wish I could take a few more days off! Even a-month leaving of you is ok."
Jane sat on a chair a few feet away and joked, "You wish I'd never come, right?"
Mindless words can cause offense. If it were in the past, Justin would definitely agree with what she said. But last night, knowing that Edward had told off her, he didn't do as usual, for fear that she would be pissed off and left. "So what!" he held his tongue for a while and said.
Jane sat at the desk and did today's lesson preparation as before, while Justin got out of bed and washed up. He walked around Jane secretly when brushing his teeth. Though it seemed that he was playing with her, he was actually observing her secretly.
Jane didn't show any upset. If Edward hadn't admitted it himself, Justin would have wondered if Vincent was joking.
Jane didn't look back, as if she got eyes at the back of her head. "Why are you looking at me?"
Justin almost swallowed the toothpaste in his mouth. "I'm not looking at you." he said vaguely.
Jane said, "I can feel it."
"Are my eyes less convincing than your back?"
"I've got a great gut instinct."
Who denied it, supplied it. Justin walked away as if he didn't want to talk to her. While in fact, he was just avioding her question.
After he washed up and finished the meal, they had the class normally. During the 20-minute break, Jane also helped Justin cut the nails for his cat. It was so weird, the puppet cat would scratch the people who got close to it, no matter who he or she was. And even Edward's face was almost scratched by it. But when it met Jane, it was just like a toy, and did not move at all. Even Justin couldn't understand. "Where is your aura?" he asked.
Obviously, the cat ignored him. "When talking about the aura, if you've got a high-wattage aura, then its will be weak. And if yours are weak, its will be strong." Jane said.
Justin wanted to refute her, but he had to admit that the even the Tibetan mastiffs and German shepherds in the family were a little afraid of Jane. And the grass mud horse didn't dare to spit at her.
Justin observed her for the whole morning and finally was sure that she was fine. While he was about to call Edward when he went downstairs for dinner and wanted to lighten the mood between them. Jane packed the things on the table and said, "I can't have dinner with you today."
Justin looked at her. "To be precise, I can't have dinner with you in the future. Because the class in the afternoon was advanced, and I'll be late if I eat here." Jane looked easy and said.
"Don't you need to have lunch?" Justin asked.
Jane had already prepared what to say. "I'll eat on the way to the next family and it can save time."
Justin said, "What can you eat on the way? Do not put money over life!"
Jane didn't expect he would say this. "Come on! You don't even get your meals on time." she laughed.
Instead of disgust, Justin looked at her with his eyes fulled of oberservation and imperceptible panic.
Jane got up. "Let's go downstairs together. Just enjoy your meal and see you tomorrow."
Justin didn't know what to say. He was not good at persuding someone to stay.
When they came downstairs, Sam smiled and said, "Miss Cooper, young master, the food is ready."
Justin was expressionless. "Sam, I won't have lunch here in the future. The time of the course has changed, and thank you for taking care of me for so long." Jane smiled and said,.
Sam was stunned for a while, and then said, "Then I will ask someone to pack some for you to take away."
Jane shook her head. "Don't bother. We've got staff meal in our company and there are also many restaurants nearby. It's very convenient."
Sam nodded. And then Jane said to Justin, who didn't say anything. "Go and have your lunch. I gotta go now."
Justin walked towards the dining room alone, while Jane walked away behind him.
There were two sets of bowls and chopsticks on the table in the dining room, and Justin just sat on his side. Facing the huge table of food, he seemed to have been back to a few months ago. If Edward didn't come downstairs, he would always be alone.
In fact, the food at home was very tasty and was cooked by the best chefs and the best ingredients. It's just too boring to have a meal. Though he could eat his fill, he was no interested in tasting.
Not eating any food, Justin went upstairs after sitting in the dining room for few minutes. And half an hour later, Edward came here.
After Edward went downstairs, Sam asked him if he was hungry and wanted something to eat. Edward sat on the sofa and said casually, "Has Justin eaten yet?"
Sam said, "Yes, he went upstairs after eating."
Edward did not say anything. While Sam said to himself, "Miss Cooper didn't have lunch here at noon. And she said that the arranment of the course has changed, so she won't eat here in the future."
Edward was shocked slightly, but he still stayed calm, as if he didn't hear it.
Sam was so worried. "The young master didn't eat very much at noon today. It's probabaly because Miss Cooper wasn't here, and he was too bored to eat alone."
Edward looked down at his phone, and said indifferently, "There are so many people in the family. Do I have to hire someone to accompany him to eat and drink?"
Sam sensed that Edward didn't want to talk about this, so he just changed the subject naturally and walked away after saying a few words, leaving Edward himself alone. Sitting on the sofa alone, Edward was thinking that what did Jane mean. Now she is drawing the line with him, and even doesn't want to eat here?
For fear that she would be angry at Justin, although he knew it was impossible. Edward still went up to the second floor and came to Justin's room. Justin was lying on the sofa and doing homework, with a black teacup dog and a white teacup dog next to him.
Seeing Edward coming in, Justin said, "Uncle Edward."
Though knowing it, Edward asked deliberately, "Why do you eat so little at noon?"
Justin said, "I ate too much in the morning."
Edward asked, "What did you eat for breakfast?"
"Bad Teacher bought me the Shaomai and millte congee."
Edward said, "I'm gonna have the meal. Would you like to have some with me?"
"No, I need to do exercise."
Edward sat opposite Justin and looked at him. "Are you upset?"
Justin didn't look up. "No."
"Just cut to the chase and be cool as a men."
Edward has taught Justin when he was a child that there was nothing that couldn't be talked between men. He thought that Justin would ask him why he blamed Jane, but he just raised his head and looked calm. "You've got your reasons for dealing with it. I didn't ask her, and also she didn't mention it to me. Nothing has changed except that she wouldn't have lunch here. And you don't have to worry about me, I'm fine. And I'm not a kid who need company every day."
Edward got bored suddenly, wondering if he was touched by Justin's words or stimulated by Jane's behavior.
