Chapter 185 The Punching Bag
Edward felt so humiliated.
Even though he was the one who made Jane embarrased in public today, he still felt ashamed. Who was to blame? Of course Verne Jackson, the real culprit.
Once he received the reply, he asked someone to dismiss Verne Jackson, and prohibited him from entering the company.
The person who did the work knew it well, and asked, "Boss, do we need to communicate with NW Company again?"
Edward held the phone and did not answer immediately.
If he asked someone to negociate so soon, didn't that mean he was getting cold feet? As soon as she told him about this, he dealt with it. He wouldn't let her know that he was following her lead and did as she said.
Pulling a long face, Edward said, "Just save it for another day."
Afer a few days, he could tell her that Verne Jackson was found to give the game away during the internal investigation of the company, and it had nothing to do with him. Edward has prepared his wishfull thingking. But he never thought that NW Company had signed a contract with Aiden Cater's company at noon the next day.
Edward couldn't describe how he felt at that moment, and he didn't know whether he was angry or stunned, as if he was caught off guard. He was still waiting to save her ass and has never expected that she had already turned to someone else for help.
The cooperation between NW Company and Aiden Cater was definately not a coincidence. He was not a fool. How fast! As soon as he just came out of his private room yesterday, Aiden Cater helped her deal with it today. Fine, she's really got a good reputation!
Edward was so angry that he laughed, mocking that Jane Cooper was not as helpless as he thought, while he has been regretting what he did in the private room and even didn't fall asleep last night. If he had known that he was not her only choice, he wouln't have taken it to heart.
Edward couldn't get over it, but also he couldn't take the anger out on Jane for no reason. After all, he refused her first. He thought over and finally took it out on Verne Jackson. He fired him, his superiors and subordinates who were related to him. Also he made a rule that if someone did something wrong in the future in the company, those who covered up him or follwed him blindly would also be punished. 
Verne was fired after a sleep, and was told the next day that from now on, he would not be hired as long as the job he applied for related to the Smith family. It was known to all that S City belonged to the Smith family. They were just forcing him to live a hard life in S City.
It was fine if he was the only one who was fired. He asked for it. But he didn't know what was wrong with Edward Smith. He even fired all his superiors and subordinates, a total of more than a dozen people who dared not say anything to the company but went to Verne to blow off steam. Verne was beaten badly and finally sent to the hospital on that day. Knowing that he was flirting around outside, and was fired by the company, his wife was so angry and wanna get divorce.
This city was very big, and all kinds of bizarre things happened every day. It seemed that there was no connection between them, while in fact, pull one hair and the whole body move, which was just like the Butterfly Effect.

Jane wanna to stay with Ellie for a few more days, but she didn't expect that Ellie had secretly booked a flight ticket and temporarily told her that she was going back to H City.
"Come on! You didn't even tell me." Jane said.
Ellie said, "If you don't want me to leave, then go back to H City with me."
Ellie pouted slightly and did not speak, just as she did when she was a child.
Ellie went over and hugged her, patted her on the back and said, " Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Many friends in H City all miss me and I'm going back to play cards with them. And also you are gonna take annual leave in one and a half month. I'll pick you up in S City at that time so we can go home together for the New Year."
Ellie put her arms around Ellie's waist and said, "Take good care of yourself, and don't stay up late. H City is so cold, you don't look overweight at all in long johns. And I know you're in a relationship now. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, and when you want to talk about it you can tell me then. Who knows? You might have already broke up at that time."
Ellie frowned. "Come on! We're going steady now."
"I knew it!" Jane smiled. 
Ellie didn't know what to say and was annoyed that she was not as crunning as Jane.
When Jane gave Ellie a lift to the airport, she said, "Aaron and Jennifer were going to invite you to dinner in the next two days. But now you are leaving without telling them, I might get bawled out."
Ellie said, "You've all grown up, and have your own affairs to deal with. I just came to see you, and I am not an old lady who needs someone to take care of all the time."
Jane knew that she just didn't want to waste her a lot of time.
Before Ellie got on the plane, she said, "The clients you have now all are not ordinary people, you must be careful when you get along with them. You can provide convenience to others, but do not always accept favors. After all, they are the people who pay you salary. But then again, we are both not short of money, so always remenber that being happy is the most important thing. If you are not, just quit. We can do it by ourselves."
Jane pulled her lower lip. "I know. You are being so long-winded."
Ellie said, "Job is not a big deal. Most importantly, find a good man and start a relationship. Come on!"
Jane didn't move and folded her arms. "Hurry up, or you'll miss the plane." 
Ellie waved to Jane, and Jane smiled as she went through the security check.
They came to the airport together, while she needed to went back alone. Obviously, the leaving of Ellie brought Jane a sense of emptiness a little down spirit, but it didn't last too long. After she went back, she told the company to cancel the leave, and sent a text message to Justin and Henry, telling them that the class of this week would start normally from tomorrow.
Justin has not seen her for several days. Though he gave her the cold-shoulder in the text message, he was very delighted and asked her to go out for a dinner at night.
"I've got a lot of work to do recently, so I can't go out. Just enjoy your meal and see you tomorrow." Jane said.
Edward, Vincent, Henry and Justin were having dinner together at that night. When it came to Ellie, Justin and Henry were just talking about the difference of the personality between she and Jane. While for Edward, he only noticed they were taking about that Jane was coming to the Smith family tomorrow.
Vincent said calmly as he served Henry some food, "I heard that Jane was told off by you a few days ago?"
Of course, he was saying this to Edward. Justin and Henry raised their heads at the same time, staring at Edward with the same expression which filled with surprise and vigilance. As if they were asking: What did you say to her? 
Edward was also shocked, blaming him for rubbing it in.
Without turning his hair, he said, "Who told you that?"
 Going outside a few days ago, Vincent was not in S City and just came back today. Hearing this, he said, "Of course I won't tell you. Don't change the subject. I am asking why you told off Jane. Were you in a bad mood?"
"I just wanna remind her that there were some things she shouldn't be involved in." Edward said.
Vincent said, "Then you shouldn't embarass her in front of everyone."
Justin stared at Edward which made him felt uncomfortable. He had no choice but to bite the bullet and said, "She is the tutor I paid. Who would dare to read her jokes?"
Vincent said with a smile, "No one dares to read her jokes. But she is a woman, and she will feel ashamed... You really don't know how to treat women."
Edward's face was expressionless. "Who am I to her? That's not my job."
