Chapter 184 Warning
Jane didn't expect that she would meet Edward in the lobby on the first floor when she went downstairs after dinner. He came out of the elevator with a group of people, and they just happened to came face to face. She first thought that since he embarassed her in the private room in front of everyone and might not want to see her at this moment. So she lowered her gaze instinctively and pretended not to have seen him.
While Edward has seen Jane, and also the whole process of her bowing her head. Ellie was goona greet Edward, but when she thought about the relationship between Edward and the Fred family, it was better not to make any trouble. So the two both looked away coincidentally.
Looking at Jane for a while, Edward stood silent and left with a pain in the neck.
Miranda was still very pleased. After all, the dinner tonight worked out immediatly. She personally sent Jane and Ellie into the car and waved goodbye to them.
They have chatted all the way and when they got out of the car and the taxi drove away, Ellie asked, "Was Edward angry about the thing happened to NW Company?"
Jane looked as usual. "No."
"Then why didn't you greeted him when you saw him?"
"I didn't see him until he walked past."
Ellie was dubious and said to herself, "I didn't expect that your Aunt Miranda arranged the dinner tonight on purpose and put you on the spot. For old time's sake, You can help them, and you can also refuse it if you have your own difficulties. I guess it must be Edward Smith who didn't want to deal with it, so you asked someone else for help."
Though Ellie was always bright and cheerful in daily life, looking innocent and naive. She was also a businesswoman who ran several factories by herself which was worth tens of millions. Being kind to others did not mean that she was slow-witted. Not to mention that Jane was brought up by her, and she could infer the process by the results.
Jane did not deny it, and said calmly, "He is too busy to deal with everything."
Ellie said, "For ordinary people, because of their limited ability, they might or might not be able to give a hand. But for Edward, it's totally up to himself. If he refuses this time, it just means that you should not go to him for this kind of thing next time. You are a tutor in the Smith family, and the only thing you should do is to do your job well. The person like him are way out of our league, and also we don't have to attach to him which will only make people think that we don't appreciate it and step out of line."
Jane replied, "I know."
Ellie turned her head and said, "Then don't beupset."
Jane also turned her head and looed at her. "I'm not!"
Ellie said, "You've only been working for a few days, and you'll finally understand that the hardest thing in the world is not getting rich, but asking for help. If they helped us, we should keep remembering that benevolence, and if they didn't, it must because we were not that close. So just calm down a little bit and work harder. The fewer times we ask for help, the easier life will be."
Jane explained earnestly, "It's not because Edward didn't help me that I'm upset. I was just thinking that how should I pay the favour I owe the people who helped me."
Ellie said, "By the way, are you close to Aiden Cater now? I heard you talk about him in childhood. And I've never seen you like any idols, but you have been working hard towards him. And now you've got what you want and worked in Forward Education. What's your next move? Do you wanna work by him side?"
She asked a lot at a stretch. Jane said, "We have met only a few times. And he was on good terms with one of my friend. In fact, I was gonna turn to my friend for help, and it just happened that Aiden Cater was be with him."
Ellie suddenly changed her expression, and showed a gossipy look. "Hey, don't you like Aiden Cater? I've seen his photos on the Internet before. He is so handsome and is good for you. You sound perfect for each other."
Jane couldn't help rolling her eyes. "He is good enough for me but also way out my league. I know myself."
Ellie was about to speak, but Jane interrupted in advance. "I know what you are going to say. Most importantly, he is my idol and also the direction of my efforts. To be a liitle over the top, he is a god statue, and I'm satisfied by just looking at him. You will worship the Buddha devoutly, but do you wanna fall in love with the Buddha? Don't blaspheme the gods, okay?"
Ellie looked ahead and said to herself, "It depends on whether the Buddha wants to be in love or not. If he insists on being in love with you, how could you refuse him?"
Jane felt totally helpless. "In your opinion, everything can fall in love."
Ellie said, "Am I wrong? Plants are divided into males and females. Do you wanna be single for a lifetime?"
Jane seemed to have caught the hole of Ellie's words, and she immediately replied with one eyebrow raised, "There are many plants in the world which are hermaphrodite or can be fertilized by themselves, such as African..."
Ellie looked disgusted, and raised her hand to cover her ears.
Jane wanted to laugh, this trick has been worked for her since childhood. "Don't refuse to accept new knowledge." she said.
Ellie frowned, "The worst decision I've ever made is to let you read too many books. Knowledge changes your destiny. Now look at you, you don't even want to find a boyfriend!"
Though it was just a joke, suddenly hit Jane's nerve. She remembered that she had been a burden to Ellie when she was six years old. At that time, her father left and her mother died. Ellie had just gone to college and the whole family was only supported by grandmother. Life was really hard at that time. Finally Ellie had no choice but to work without finishing her university studies. She always teased that studying was useless, but who would like to begin such complicated public life at a early age if they have the chance to study at school.
With a proud height of 68.11 feet, Jane hugged Ellie's shoulders very protectively, and said, "I'm still young, just leave me alone and think about yourself. When you were 29, you said you would definitely get married before thirty. But now, you've already been thirty-seven. Are you going to get married at forty?"
Ellie sighed and said jokingly and also seriously, "My niece hasn't married yet. If the auntie first get married, I'll be laughed at."
Jane stared, "Isn't it normal for aunt to get married before niece? Whose view is wrong? "
Ellie said, "Ok, let's make a deal. I will get married when you find a boyfriend."
Jane didn't even think about it and said, "You don't want to get married? "
"Well, if you don't find, I won't get married."
"After you get married, I'll think about it."
"Really?" Ellie quickly accepted it after they all have made concession.
Jane nodded earnestly. "My greatest wish is to see you get married. Be quick!"
Then the two talked and laughed on the way home. It seemed that Jane didn't keep the thing happened today in mind at all. While Edward did. When he came out of the hotel and got into the car, he first asked someone to look into Verne Jackson immediately and wanted to get the result at once.
He'd like to know that Jane had did something wrong so that he could get an excuse. But in no time, he received the reply. It turned out that it's really Verne Jackson who pulled bank and cheated everyone, thinking that the people in NW Company couldn't make a big deal out of it.
