Chapter 187 Drawing The Line

Chapter 187 Drawing The Line
How time flies! Jane has been in S City for five months. In addition to being refunded eight times continuously in the first month by clients, which made her become a 'joke' in Forward Education, eveything went so well on her work since she joined the Smith family. While people only saw her glory, nobody knew how much efforts she has made for this job.
After several months of observing, it was determined that Jane had stood her ground in the Smith family. And those colleagues all secretly played up to her and wanted her to introduce resources.
Jane said, "I haven't heard that Justin and Henry need to take extra classes for other subjects."
The colleague said, "Then how about the friend of Mr. Smith and Mr. Perez? Since they've got so many friends, there must be someone who need it."
Jane was a little bit speechless. "I am really in no position to speak in front of them."
The colleague flattered, "Don't be so modest. How many times did Mr. Smith come to our company? And also the children of the Smith family and the Perez family, who came to here in person and wanted you to continue to give them class. You are so amazing."
Jane said, "I do get along with the children. But you need to talk with their parents about this. They may ask me if they need it, and then I'll tell you and we can check the time ."
Recently, there were at least ten colleagues who came to Jane in private, and were all rejected by her. She could easily guess what would they talked behind her back. They would complain about her pretentiousness, thinking that she just wanted to monopolize resources and refused to share it with them.
Mary ran to Jane to carry tales, saying that someone was talking behind her back.
Jane asked, "Who said that?"
Mary said, "I can't tell you. What do you take me for?"
Jane didn't bat an eye and just mixed her coffee milk with her head down. Seeing that she was keeping silent, Mary said to herself, "How hypocritical they are! Saying is one thing and doing another. And you barely know them, how could they ask you to introduce resources to them? Shame on them."
Jane said, "Yeah, it really made me embarrassed."
Mary said, "You don't have to take it personally. And I didn't ask you to do me a favor even though I have once introduced clients to you. They have no rights to talk behind you."
Jane raised her head and asked with smile, "Miss Johnson, do you need me to introduce a client to you?"
Mary looked at Jane and refused with a smile, and then said, "Of course, if you have proper clients here, you can keep an eye on it for me. And you specialize in mathematics and science, while I teach English. Since our majors do not conflict, I will not rob your clients."
Jane picked up the cup and took a sip, her eyes had a distant faraway look. "To be honest, I have worked in the Smith family and the Perez family for several months. If I siad that I didn't have any say for this, it's too fake." she said softly.
Noticing that there might be a chance, Mary immediately said, "Of course. It just depends on you and the people you want to help."
Jane said, "I don't have any advantages, except a good memory. Who has once helped me when I was in trouble, I will definitely find a way to pay back. Also, if someone deliberately tricks me behind my back, treats me as a fool, but still wants me to introduce resources to her..."
She suddenly looked at Mary, and asked, "Miss Johnson, do you think I should think of myself first and tell the client about this? They might do me a favor and help me with this trifle."
Jane's serious look really gave Mary the creeps, and she suddenly felt so scared. Without blinking, she asked in a low voice, "Who are you talking about?"

Jane said what she had said to her, "I can't tell you. What do you take for me?"
Even a fool could take the hint, not to mention that a guilty conscience needs no accuser. Mary was shocked and quickly considered whether she should explain it or just pretend to know nothing about it.
Before she could think clearly, Jane had already picked up the two cups of mixed coffee milk, and said indifferently, "Miss Johnson, if there's nothing else, then I gotta go now."
Mary nodded again and again. Looking at Jane's back, her face turned pale.
Holding the two cups, Jane put one cup on her table, and sent the other one to Aaron. Aaron has been working hard for Charles recently. He has already booked up all the classes until the end of the year at a stretch and has got no day off in a week. He was so exhausted, and when he glanced at the cup on the table, he raised his head and said, "You read my mind. Just like a roundworm in my stomach and know what I'm thinking."
He picked up the cup and drank half of it in one breath. "Thank you for not saying I was a maggot in your stomach." Jane said expressionlessly.
Aaron rolled his eyes at her. "Gross."
Jane didn't continue to talk with him, she turned around and went back to her office. When she glanced at the phone, it happened that the property sent her a message, saying that the owner had been back from a business trip and could meet at any time.
Since Jane has already finished the class in the afternoon, she left the company with her bag and settled the apartment directly that afternoon. It was still in the Rhine Bay, and only the unit was changed.
She paied the money, signed the contract and didn't tell anyone. Carrying two suitcases alone, she has ran back and forth four or five times. Fortunately, there were not many things, so it was easy for her to move.
When Jennifer called her, Jane was cleaning up in the new house.
"Are you home? I want to have dinner at your apartment tonight." Jennifer asked.
Jane used speaker phone and put it on the table and said, "OK, just come."
Jennifer said, "I'm near your company now, and I'll be there in five minutes."
Jane said, "Come to apartment 202, building 5."
"Building 5?" Jennifer was astonished. "Isn't it apartment 202, building 1?"
Jane replied calmly, "I've changed the apartment. Just come and help me do the cleaning."
"When did you change it?" Jennifer has just came there a few days ago.
Jane said, "Just now."
In less than ten minutes, Jane heard the doorbell. And when she opened the door, it was Jennifer who tood outside with a so incredulous look. She even didn't change her shoes and couldn't wait to ask, "Why did you change your apartment?"
Jane said, "The scenery here is better."
Jennifer glanced at her. "Why don't you say that the geomantic omen here is better?"
Jane said, "It's inappropriate for a teacher to promote superstition."
Jennifer continued to ask, "The place you lived before was fine. Why did you suddenly change you mind?"
Jane said, "Gifts blind the eye."
Jennifer looked at her. "What's wrong with you and Edward?"
Jane looked as usual. "Do you think I dare to piss him off?"
Jennifer knew Jane so well. She was a so different girl, and could stay calm on the surface even something serious had happend to her. So something must have happened and there must be a reason for it.
Jennifer tentatively asked, "Are you ok with your work?"
Jane said, "Don't worry, I won't make fun of my job."
Jennifer said to herself, "Since eveything is fine, then why did you move..."
Standing with her back to Jennifer, Jane hung her clothes in front of the closet, and said as usual, "I'm doing the self-reflection now. Being a teacher, the only thing I should do is to be responsible for my own job. And draw the line clearly in private, or you can't talk toughly. "
