Chapter 108 Initiative Touch

Chapter 108 Initiative Touch
Vincent Perez once called Jane, but he didn't directly tell her who the mole was, only saying that the mole was found and Edward Smith was not in the mood. And in order to cause some understandings, he deliberately said at the dinner, "I didn't expect to be Beth. No wonder Edward felt blue, and I was also upset when I heard this."
Hearing this, Jane took a quick glance at Edward Smith who was eating cake with his head down. "Are you sure?" she asked.
Vincent nodded. "All the evidence points to her."
Jane had no intense hatred with Beth and also they were not close friend. So there was no need for her to kick her down or say something good for her. "It's not bad news since it has been worked out." she said justly.
Vincent said, "Yes. What scared me most was not a strong opponent, but a devious mole."
Edward knew that Vincent was feeling Jane out. He suddenly interrupted, "OK, let's call it a day."
Jane didn't know what Edward was thinking and just thought he didn't want to discuss Beth behind her back. While only Vincent Perez knew why Edward said this, but he just left it unsaid.
There were very few common topics between the three of them. Since they can't talk about business, they can only talk about children. Vincent Perez started first. He smiled to Jane and said, "Henry has changed a lot in the past two months. His grades has been improved a lot, and he was more mature for his age than before. My mom said that he made salads and some Chinese cold dishes every day. And she was so moved that she ate it all. While Henry was a little bit down, because he just made it to lose weight."
Jane said, "Henry is very talented in cooking. He is a quick learner."
Vincent just complained about Henry as usual, "This is a ability that belongs to a fatty."
Jane couldn't help laughing. Talking about Justin's talent in cooking, maybe Vincent Perez was right. If the two learnt cooking together, Henry could almost mastered while Justin could just learnt a little.
Jane also felt awkward after chatting for a while, because they were the only two talking. She looked at Edward Smith and tried to start a conversation with him. "Justin wants to make a cake by himself, and he has been studying western pastries in his spare time recently. It won't take you long to have a taste."
Edward didn't raise his head. "I've heard that he has been cooking recently. And if no one eat the food he made, he will just give it to the dog. Though it didn't cause any waste, even the dog wants to run away when see him now." he scoffed.
Jane had never heard Justin and the Smith family said about this. Thinking of the mess, she was completely surprised with her eyes wide open.
Edward said, "You don't need to ask. He won't admit it."
Jane smiled. "You are right. I have asked him if he had actually done it before, and he just said that genius could easily learn it only by watching."
With a serious look, Edward took a bite of the cake and said, "Blind self-confidence. Who does he look like?"
Vincent said, "Of course it's you. You brought him up."
"I'm a capable man, but he isn't."Edward said calmly.
Vincent said, "You were no match for him when you were at his age. And you could even fall into the sea when fishing."
Edward froze. Jane looked around, and joked, "I didn't hear anything."

Making fun with his friend, Vincent said to Jane, "Though he's got an air of detachment and was hard to get close now, he was so funny when he was young. Once we went fishing at sea and he caught a 50-pound tuna with one shot which was hard to say lucky or not. Then I told him that we were unable to haul the net, but he didn't believe it and insisted on hauling it. Think about it! We were at sea! And finally, he was dragged into the sea by that fish."
His complain about Edward was heartfelt and animate. And Jane was easily amused and also imaginative. She almost can't hold back her laugh.
Putting the spoon down, Edward raised his head expressionlessly. Jane held the laugh back and heard him say, "You are one to talk. If you didn't let go suddenly, I wouldn't have been shaken off."
Vincent got a zen look on his face. "It was a big fish with sharp teeth and claws. If I didn't let it go, we would in trouble together."
Edward was speechless. It seemed that he wanted to kill him.
Jane said justly, "Mr. Perez, you are not a reliable friend."
Vincent turned his head and said, "Reliable? Do you know how stupid he was when he was dragged into the sea and still didn't let it go? He was dragged a few dozen of feet by the fish. Fortunately, the people around reacted quickly. Otherwise, he will not be here today."
He shook his head and sighed. There was an exaggerated picture showed in Jane's mind, just like an anime. A long fishing thread, with a fish hanging on one end and Edward on the other. And the sea washed his small inch head so quickly. The scene... ...Tut-tut! It's so funny.
Seeing Jane smirking, Edward glared at Vincent. "But you did enjoy the fish at that time."
Speaking of this, Vincent continued to say, "Do you know how vindictive he was? We were all trying to get him out of the sea, but he cared about nothing but the fish. Finally, the fish was caught. Well, most of the people would take a photo and leave it as a memory when encountering such thing. But you know what he did? He asked three chefs to dismember the fish, and made a big table of food by using different cooking methods. So never offend him. Once you step on his toe, he will never let you go without a fight."
Before Edward could say something, Jane said first, "If I were him, I would do the same."
Vincent's expression changed slightly. Jane said as usual, "Well, first, I don't like taking pictures for memories. And what I considered first was that I would eat whichever fish I caught, so I would never set it free. Most importantly, it took so much effort to catch it, and I would be unwilling to let it go. And even if I caught another fish like that one, it was not the one before."
After saying this, Edward who was expressionless suddenly reached out his hands to her. Jane hesitated for a moment, then raised her hand and gave him a high-five. Edward took it back and looked at Vincent. "You see? Most people in this world are pragmatists. Not everyone loves these showy forms as you do.
It seemed that Vincent has just came to his sense, he looked at Jane and said, "He is not romantic at all. And I am surprised you are the same. Did you starve when you were young?"
Putting her arms flat on the table and raising her chin, Jane pointed to the cherry blossom squirrel mandarin fish in front of Vincent and said, "It is said that the memory of the fish only lasts seven seconds, but some people also say that the fish is conscious after being killed. So do they know that they're dead? and do they feel pain when they're fried?
Hearing what Jane said, Vincent was so scared and he quickly turned the fish in front of her. "Stop talking about this! you have made me have a shadow on the fish." he frowned and said.
Jane picked up her chopsticks, tasted the fish and said as usual, "I've eaten fish, and I know how tasty it is. So I won't be soft-hearted when I disembowel it. Well, at most I'll put a few more petals when placing the plate. This is the romance after a meal."
Edward has never seen her talk so much. He couldn't agree more and could only reached out his hand. This time, Jane knew what he was gonna do, so she gave him a quick blow.
Vincent said, "Can you just stop it? I feel like an outcast here."
