Chapter 67 Two-inch, Four-inch, Six-inch
Jane went out of the private room, and after looking around, she saw two figures, one tall and one short, in front of the claw machine. They were complaining about each other.
Justin said, "You can't do it like that."
Henry said, "The way you just did was even more unreliable."
Justin said, "I almost got it, okay?"
Henry said, "Who can't?"
Jane stood behind the two of them, watching Justin drop a few more coins into the slot. He seemed to be angry, but the doll didn't cooperate at all, which just moved its legs. His efforts were in vain.
Henry said, "I told you it couldn't work."
Justin said in a deep voice, "Can you stop talking? I'm dying from your noise!"
Henry frowned and said, "How could you talk to me like that? I'm your elder!"
Seeing that they were about to fight, Jane hurriedly said, "Let me try. Let me try."
Only then did Henry and Justin realize that she was one meter away from them.
Stepping forward, Jane said, "Who can lend me a few coins?"
Almost at the same time, Henry and Justin stretched out their hands together, and both of them had a handful of coins in their palms.
Jane was impartial. She took three coins from each and dropped them into the slot. Under the gaze of the two children with long faces, she easily clamped a doll which was at the center of the machine. But it was usually thought that the closer a doll was to the side, the more easily could people hold it up.
When the doll fell, she was not in a hurry to take it but dropped three more coins. Now Henry and Justin's expressions were not as sad as before, but rather suspicious.
With all eyes fixed on it, the second doll was successfully picked up and dropped into the opening.
Jane bent down and took out the two dolls together, one in each hand. "Well, each takes one."
Henry and Justin didn't reach out, with different expressions. After a few seconds, Henry said, "Are you mocking us?"
Jane said, "Who doesn't have any skills?"
Justin glanced at her and said, "Since you stood behind and didn't speak, you must have laughed at us for a long time, right?"
Jane said, "Do you want to hear the truth? I'm a master at this, and whoever comes here will only deserve to put coins for me."
She said it euphemistically, and these words meant that no one was better than her.
Henry had known Jane for a short time, so he glanced at her wanting to say something but stopped, while Justin was used to her style, who said with a poker face, "She is always hiding a dagger behind her smile."
The three of them were standing at the claw machine, discussing human nature, and suddenly a voice came from behind, "Henry?"
Henry turned his head first, followed by Jane and Justin, and saw a young and beautiful woman standing not far away, who was dressed in fashion. Jane felt s sense of deja vu at first glance, but she didn't remember at once where she had seen her.
Seeing Justin, the woman seemed to be a little surprised. "Justin is also here."
She walked toward them, and Henry said, "Linda."
Justin said, "Miss Perez."
Linda glanced at Jane, and then asked, "Why are you two here?"
Henry answered, "We come out to dinner with my brother and Edward."
Linda smiled, "I haven't seen you two at the same time for a long time. I thought I was mistaken just now."
Justin didn't like to talk outside. Henry was not too enthusiastic, and just replied as usual, "We are mainly to invite our tutor for dinner. She is the heroine today."
Hearing this, Linda directly put her eyes on Jane's face, with a little smile, and said, "Jane, right?"
Jane nodded slightly, "Yeah, hello."
Linda said, "As the tutor for Henry and Justin at the same time, you are very popular in the circle now."
Jane smiled, "Thank you..."
Linda said, "Please leave me your contact information. Many people around me are asking about you. They also want to hire you to be the tutor."
From how Henry and Justin called the woman, Jane knew that the woman in front of her was probably a relative of Vincent. No matter whether Jane had the time or not, she couldn't say no in this situation.
Jane took out her business card from her bag and handed it to Linda.
Linda said, "I'll contact you when I have time."
"Okay."
Linda said again, "Have you finished eating or not? Why don't you go in?"
Henry answered, "We're waiting for the food and getting fresh air outside."
Linda couldn't help but laugh, "Which room are they in? I'm going to say hello."
Henry told her the room number, and she turned around and left.
Jane said, "I'm going out to buy something, and you two go back first. Dishes should be served soon."
Justin asked, "Where are you going?"
Jane said, "Nearby. I'll come back soon."
Henry said, "What do you want to buy? Let the driver take you there."
Jane said, "No need, it's not heavy. I'm going to buy some cakes."
When she came, she noticed that there was a cake shop nearby, and judged from its front door, it should be pretty good.
Henry didn't know why to buy the cake, thinking Jane wanted to eat it, and said casually, "Let's go together."
Jane thought that Justin would definitely sneer at her, but he said calmly, "I'll go, too."
She had no reason to get rid of the two of them, and the three of them left the restaurant and entered the cake shop together. Jane said, "Take whatever you like."
Henry walked to the counter in the distance, and Justin was left beside Jane. Expectedly, he said without much enthusiasm, "Do you want to eat it, or buy it for Uncle Edward?"
Jane said in a natural tone, "Congratulations, you guessed right again."
She didn't refute, but Justin was at a loss for words and could only snort.
A few minutes later, they returned to the private room. Vincent raised his head and said with the mobile phone, "Just about to call you. Where did you go?"
He took a closer look and saw Henry and Justin both holding boxes of different sizes. Justin's was as big as a palm, two inches; Henry's was four inches. Jane came in last with a six-inch cake box in her hand.
"We just went nearby."
With a smile, Jane casually put the six-inch cake box next to Edward, and said to Vincent, "Henry said that you don't like sweets, so I brought you a bubble tea."
Vincent, who was smart, looked at the two-inch, four-inch, and six-inch boxes on the table, and smiled, "Thank you, Miss Cooper. It's sweet of you to buy snacks for the children."
The word, children, included Edward.
How could Jane not understand it? She only smiled but didn't talk. She would not walk into the trap.
Edward stayed calm and said, "Let's eat."
During the dinner, Jane talked to Henry and Justin, and Edward and Vincent would not try to fill the silence. They had their own conversation, which was not awkward but unexpectedly comfortable.
Vincent said, "How was your trip to Y City this time?"
Edward answered, "They all talked like bureaucrats and didn't say anything useful."
Vincent said, "I heard that Aiden Cater has been in Y City for more than half a month, and it seems that he is going to take it with all his efforts."
Suddenly hearing the name Aiden Cater, Jane didn't realize who he was for two seconds, but she couldn't deny that since the name appeared, she could no longer eat easily and she was always listening to what they were talking about. Although she didn't want to eavesdrop, she couldn't control herself.
