Chapter 46 Don't Care about Relatives
Edward's car was parked in the courtyard of the villa. He walked ahead, followed by Grace and Jane. Grace went straight to the front passenger seat and was about to reach for the car door when Edward seemed to have eyes on the back of his head and said coldly, "Go to the back."
Grace froze, feeling embarrassed, and walked slowly to the rear door. Edward turned his head to look at Jane. "You sit in the front."
Jane didn't look at Grace's face, obediently opened the passenger door, and sat in. Of the three people in the car, none of them spoke. The silence was like a straitjacket that didn't tie the body but the neck.
Due to the dim light inside the car, Jane couldn't see the expression on Edward's face, and she only knew that he was not in a good mood. He stepped on the gas and quickly drove on the asphalt road.
After driving for a minute, Edward suddenly stepped on the brakes, and the car squeaked and stopped on the side of the road. Jane was used to keeping vigilant in his car and fastened her seat belt, so she only leaned forward slightly. But Grace behind was miserable because she almost hit the back of the passenger seat.
Before she realized what happened, Edward had already unfastened his seat belt, and said coldly, "Grace, get out of the car."
He opened the car door to get off. Jane looked out secretly, only to see that he had lit a cigarette and walked to the back of the car.
Grace was very afraid of Edward, even if she was going to be sick and felt irritable, she still didn't dare to be slow and got out of the car quickly.
Edward stood at the rear of the car smoking a cigarette. Grace walked to him cautiously, and whispered, "Edward..."
Edward didn't say anything right away. The cigarette smoke drifted towards the front of the car along with the breeze. Seeing his poker face and the silence, Grace felt very nervous.
Grace didn't dare to look directly at him, so she lowered her head and whispered, "I'm sorry."
"This is the last time. If you mess up again, don't expect me to handle the matter for you."
Edeard said in a calm, indifferent voice.
Grace started to panic, raised her head subconsciously, and said anxiously, "I'm sorry, Edward. I'll never do it again. I know what kind of person that bastard is. I won't like Ken anymore, and I won't cause trouble for you again. Please don't be angry."
Edward said coldly, "It has nothing to do with me what kind of person you like, as long as you have the ability to clean up the mess yourself. Don't cry and call me every time. I don't want to lose face together with you."
Grace said, "I won't, I really won't do that again. I lost my mind tonight. Someone kept talking about Ken and Jane in my ear and heard that Jane was the tutor of the Smith family, so I couldn't help..."
Edward replied, "Is your brain a decoration? No wonder Ken made a fool of you."
These words were so cruel that they hurt Grace so much that she felt like her heart was penetrated by thousands of arrows. She almost lost her breath for one second, and her eyes suddenly became wet.
"Yes, I was stupid. I thought he really liked me."
She choked out. Edward was supposed to be nice as a brother, but he didn't look at Grace at all, instead of turning his head and blowing the smoke. Without any emotions, he said, "Save your regret and speak it to yourself before you lose your mind next time. If you had learned a lesson, you would not have done it again and again."
Grace burst into tears. Edward frowned slightly with his eyes full of annoyance, and said, "The last time that I said means there is no next time. Don't think that your father and my mother have the same mother, you are my cousin, and we are really close relatives. I have even denied my mother for many years, not to mention your family. If you still want me to help you at a critical moment, you'd better cherish my few feelings for the White family. Got it?"
He didn't speak loudly and didn't lose his temper, but Grace was so frightened when she heard it. She instinctively wanted to explain to him, but Edward's look was so indifferent, annoyed, and unsympathetic, even with determination.
Looking into his eyes, she was speechless for a moment and so scared that she could only nod her head.
Edward took the last puff on his cigarette, stubbed out the butt of it, and said, "Go back by yourself."
After saying this, he got into the car alone and drove away. Jane vaguely heard their voices, but couldn't hear what they were talking about. Edward left Grace alone on the road in the middle of the night. Although there were villa areas nearby that were safe, it was unexpected that he did so.
Edward was so cruel to her cousin, and Jane was afraid that it would be her turn next.
"Mr. Smith, if you want to know the details of what happened tonight, I can explain it."
Jane took the initiative to speak only to ask for leniency to avoid being misunderstood.
Edward looked ahead and replied, "I know her better than you. She deserved it."
Surprised again, Jane wondered what he meant and if he would blame her.
As if guessing what she was thinking, Edward said, "I'm not blind. I can tell right or wrong. You are just a tutor hired by the Smith family, not sold to me. It's your freedom to get close to whoever you want, and I don't care."
Jane said, "Thank you for your understanding. I made it clear to Mr. Garcia that I would not take his order. What happened tonight maybe that Grace had some misunderstanding."
Edward said, "You're smarter than her."
Jane became silent, and the key point was that it was not proper to say thank you. Judging from Edward's look, he probably wasn't angry at her.
But who knew what he was thinking about. He often did things beyond her expectations. Jane thought that the less she got along with such people, the better it was. Just as she was about to ask him to pull over at the place where she could take a taxi, Edward received a call from the Bluetooth in the car and he pressed the button.
A male voice came from the car, "Are you finished yet? We're waiting for you to cut the cake together."
Edward said, "It's not my birthday. What are you waiting for?"
The man said, "My heart is hurt by your words. Which time over the years have I cut the cake without you by my side?"
Edward asked, "Wait for me to smear the cake on your face?"
"Anyway, I won't cut it if you don't come. It's up to you," said the man.
Edward replied, "Two minutes, I will bring someone over."
"Who?"
"Jane."
The man seemed to be very surprised, "Your tutor? Hurry up and bring her along. For so long, I have only heard of her name, and I really want to see her." Without waiting for Edward to answer, he became glib. "Oh, you suddenly ran out. Did you just pick up your tutor to surprise me?"
Jane was sitting in the passenger seat like on pins and needles... She wondered what happened, where Edward was taking her, and who the man on the phone was.
Edward didn't give him any opportunities, and hung up, saying, "I'd like to introduce a client to you whose younger brother is a high school senior at the age of sixteen. He wants to find a physics tutor."
Jane said, "I'm on a tight schedule now. I'm afraid..."
"You still have two clients. Reject Nick Scott, and you can keep the other one if you want."
Jane didn't answer immediately, and Edward said, "Nick wasn't sincere in asking you to be the tutor, and I didn't plan to do business with him, so you can't keep him."
