Chapter 55 Real Love Afraid of Interests
Beth, who wanted to teach Jane a lesson, was unexpectedly countered by her on the spot.
Looking cold, Beth said, "You may not know my habits yet. I never give invalid warnings.
Jane said, "I know you have a high status in S City and I know you're not kidding. I'm not stupid either. That's why I wanted to talk to you straight to the point. "
Beth pressed her lips. Jane said, "The will of others is not ours to see. In your opinion, my assurances are not worth believing. In the same way, I don't believe your assurances as well. Jennifer and I both have the ability to earn our own money. We don't have to live by threats and handouts from others. It has nothing to do with us if others want to guard against the slightest."
Beth said, "It's rude to say that, but some things are true. At S City, I can do so much more than you guys."
Jane said, "You can make Mr. Smith like you?"
Beth stared at Jane coldly. Her silence apparently meant that it was her awkward underbelly.
Jane said bluntly, "You can't influence his thoughts. So you try your best to sweep away all the people around him that you don't like. With all due respect, you chose the worst method."
"I don't know much about your current relationship with Mr. Smith. But I am sure that I don't mind people liking me, but I mind the way people like me. I don't necessarily accept simple likes from others, let alone aggressive likes. "
"Miss Brown, believe it or not, I'm going to say that I'm here for a personal reason to work at S City, and that reason has nothing to do with the people you like." My profession is important to me. I could even say I believe in my profession. We are all well aware of what faith means to a person. If I really did something immoral to get someone else hit me, I have no complaints. But I do what I should do now. If someone breaks my faith, I absolutely can't just sit around doing nothing!"
Beth said calmly, "Are you threatening me?"
Jane said, "Not a threat. Instead, that was selling. My card is that only I can teach Justin. According to Mr. Smith's emphasis on Justin and his own face-saving personality, he will not let go of anyone who has bad ideas about me because of him. For this, you can refer to Eden Miller."
Thinking of Eden, who had not yet been discharged from the hospital, Beth chuckled in her heart. She didn't know if she was angry or afraid. Raising her eyes, she said coldly, "You know Edward very well."
Jane said, "Miss Brown and Mr. Smith are all smart people. I dare not say that I am smart, but I never pretend to be stupid in front of smart people. Mr. Smith promised that as long as I taught well, he would not treat me badly. So it was enough for me to take advantage of him alone. It is easy to get into trouble with two boats on your feet."
Beth said suspiciously and unexpectedly, "Aren't you afraid that I'll tell him you're going to take advantage of him so directly?"
Jane smiled lightly and replied, "My relationship with Mr. Smith is full of interests. Isn't it normal for us to get what we need from each other?"
After saying that, she added, "Only you, Miss Brown, who really likes him, is afraid of only having an interest relationship with him."
Jane said what Beth thought.
Only for someone she really likes, she would want to talk about feelings. She didn't want them to only talk about interests every time they sat together.
After a moment of silence, Beth said, "Now I kind of believe that you are a teacher." Your eloquence can convince even an adult like me, let alone a small child."
Jane said, "Teachers never advocate verbal dexterity, but encourage students to tell the truth."
Looking at Jane, Beth suddenly smiled lightly and asked, "If you use this eloquence to coax a man, no man can dislike you, right?"
Jane calmly replied, "No man would like someone who blatantly takes advantage of him. You know Mr. Smith better than I do. It is precisely because he does not like me that he uses me as a shield."
Her words made Beth feel very comfortable. She felt that Jane was inferior to her anyway. Unless Edward just wanted something new. But it was too easy for Edward to get beautiful women. He didn't have to recruit her home as a tutor. After all, he never had a relatiaoship with people around him, which was his bottom line.
Taking a sip of coffee, Beth said gracefully and proudly, "I believe what you say. What happened last night was an accident. I didn't know Grace would argue with Ken. Regarding the previous commitment to help your friend introduce resources, I will also ask someone to contact her."
Jane said, "Thank you Miss Brown. But don't bother. My friend wouldn't take it."
Beth said, "My resources will save her more than half a year of detours. Are you sure you want to push it off for her?"
Jane said, "I'm sure."
Beth said, "Are you afraid Edward won't be happy to know that you've accepted my help?"
Jane smiled and replied, "Miss Brown, I'm thinking for you. First, I take advantage of you. But you are not really helping me. Then I may not really thank you in my heart. Second, Mr. Smith wouldn't hate me for it. He knows I can't refuse you. He can only get more and more..."
Jane didn't say anything about the next words, but gave Beth a look that everyone understood.
After thinking about it for a while, Beth said, "I can give you space. But I hope you always remember what you said today. If one day you have an idea that you shouldn't have, don't blame me for not warning you in advance. "
Jane said, "Rest assured. What you like is not what I want."
Beth seemed to relax. She asked with a smirk, "Then tell me, what's wrong with Edward?"
Narrowing her eyes, Jane replied half-jokingly and half-seriously, "Miss Brown, don't take my word for it. If I told you now, you would have told Mr Smith right away. Then I will lose my job, right?"
Beth said, "It's okay to be a job, but not a meal ticket."
Jane smiled and said, "I'm an ordinary person and don't need a full meal ticket."
Beth laughed too. She felt that Jane was indeed self-aware.
Under Jane's efforts to turn the tide, this meeting did not end in arguing. They separated in the café. Jane went downstairs back to Forward Education.
On the way, her phone rang again. She was scared. She looked up to see that it was Charles's call.
Jane answered the phone quickly. She smiled and said, "What instructions does Mr. Lee have?"
Charles's gentle laughter came from the phone, "I am picking a lunch break to call you. Didn't bother your work, right?"
Jane said, "It's okay to bother. You're my boss after all."
Charles said, "How long have you been in S City? Why are you acting like a bureaucrat?"
Jane said, "I don't like it either. But you're not at the company."
Charles immediately asked, "How is Maggie doing to you? I was due back a week ago, but I've been delayed for a while."
Jane said, "Miss Moore was nice to me. She introduced me to some important clients."
Charles said, "That's good. I just got out of the airport and I'm going to see a client in a while. Are you free for dinner tonight?"
Jane said, "I have time. Would you mind if I bring one more person there?"
Charles said, "Aaron? Come together. I'll take you to dinner."
