Chapter 95 Uncle and Nephew, Two Treasure Boys
Jane had been to S City for almost three months, and she had also taught Justin for nearly two months. They suffered a lot at first, but they got along with each other well now. The process was tough and full of tears, which was only known to them. During the process, not only had Justin changed but also Jane had gone through great changes.
It was impossible for Jane to sing in the past, but now she could sing any songs calmly. Sometimes she even sing songs following the fashion trend, and Hunter couldn't help but complain, "What's wrong? Do you want to start a new career in singing? You are not qualified."
Jane said, "I hope that Mr. Hunter will let me be a hit by using money."
Hunter said, "No, I won't. I will save my money to have a good time with Lee in the future. I don't have billions of money to promote you, and I don't want to waste my money to create an unknown star."
Perhaps because Jane sang songs too awful, and she kept singing every day, Justin made up his mind to get up by himself someday. After that, Jane didn't have to wake him up, but she didn't tell him that she was a little upset about this.
After the daily classes, Jane left a test paper for Justin and said, "Finish it today, and I will check it tomorrow. If you score more than one hundred, you can choose to not be on the same team with me when we play soccer on Sunday."
Besides Jane and Justin, only Hunter and Henry knew what it meant that don't go to the team which Jane was in. Although Jane was able to deal with everything usually, her physical strength was relatively weaker than man's. She also ran slowly, and sometimes she even used her hands to play soccer when she was anxious, which was looked down upon by the other three men. Therefore, they didn't want to be with her in one team.
Justin took the test paper, checked the front and back, and said, "Deal."
Smith had been very busy recently. For one thing, he was busy with matters about school in Y City. For another, the game his company designed would come into the final testing stage, and it would be released recently if there was no problem. He went home in the morning, and he couldn't get up at noon. Therefore, he couldn't have lunch with Justin recently. Thanks to Jane, Justin was not alone now. Smith felt more or less assured because of Jane even he didn't say about this.
Jane left after lunch. Justin went to the backyard to walk the horses, feed the alpacas, and also to console the white peacocks that had just been shipped over from abroad and were slightly ill. Now that he had someone to play soccer with, he didn't need to play with the dogs anymore.
After relaxing, he went upstairs to finish the paper by himself. Sam didn't see that Justin took the initiative to study, or he would cry to redeem the vow to God.
After an hour, Justin finished the paper and noted down some questions that he wasn't sure about. He brought papers and pens to ask Smith. Smith's room was dark because of the thick heavy curtains. Justin gingerly came to the bedside and whispered, "Uncle Edward."
Smith didn't respond to him.
Justin raised his voice slightly, "Uncle Edward?"
Smith replied, "Hmm..."
Justin asked, "You've been sleeping for ten hours. Are you hungry? Do you need me to bring a cake upstairs for you?"
Smith was so sleepy that he didn't know what he was doing. He thought, "No, I need to sleep for some time." but he said again, 'Hmm..."
Justin seemed to see himself, himself without Jane's waking up.
Justin didn't like nagging, so he silently took out the phone and found the recordings, including various audios of ten seconds, twenty seconds, and more than half a minute. Justin selected an entry-level one and play it.
"Stand up, all victims of oppression. For the tyrants fear you might..."
When Jane's absurd voice came out, Justin immediately covered his mouth with his hands. He look at Smith on the bed, who kept still for the first few seconds and then moved. Then Smith opened his eyes in panic and looked behind.
The room was very dark, and Smith squint his eyes, only to see the vague figure standing next to the bed. He couldn't tell whether it was Justin or Jane until Justin couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Justin said, "Uncle Edward, is it very refreshing?"
Smith propped up with half of his body and didn't move a bit, not knowing whether he was frightened or startled.
Justin said while laughing, "It seems that it is not my problem, and even you can not stand it."
Smith rolled over and sat up, leaning at the head of the bed, seemingly as an afterthought, and said blankly, "What is it?"
Justin said, "My current wake-up bell."
Smith got the cigarette from the bedside table. He lit it, and the red dot light showed up in the dim room. He was calmed by the smell of nicotine, and he said without any emotion, "If you bully her all day, she will go away. Do you want to be illiterate in the future?"
Justin said, "I didn't force her to sing. It was her standing by my bedside every morning and singing absurd songs. I haven't blamed her for scaring me into nightmares."
Smith said, "She dare not to beat or scold you if you don't get up, so she only can use this way to wake you up."
Justin said, "Recently I woke up on my own. These are also previously recorded. Do you want to hear something else?"
Smith thought it was boring and wanted to ask Justin not to overdo it. However, he drew on his cigarette and said, "What else?"
Justin couldn't wait to share the songs with others and played the song Love Confession to Smith. When Jane rapped like playing kuai ban, Smith suddenly coughed and took the cigarette away in a hurry, almost dropping the ashes on the quilt.
Justin almost laughed to death, and Smith also couldn't help but laugh with Justin. There were three voices in the room including Jane's serious singing. The more serious her singing was, the funnier it would be. They were somehow distressed hearing her funny singing. Why did she sing so awfully?
After listening to a dozen of recordings, Smith finished his cigarette. He felt a little sour on his cheeks and said, "Why did you wake me up?"
Justin wiped his eyes, almost forgetting why he came here, and said, "I have a few questions that I'm not sure about, so I come to ask you."
Smith found the remote control under the pillow and opened the curtains. It was bright outside. He squinted his eyes because of the light, and he fully opened his eyes until he adapted to the brightness.
Justin handed the questions copied on the paper to Smith. Smith read the questions quickly and wrote the answer directly, and then he handed the paper to Justin after finishing.
Justin looked down. He answered some correctly and some incorrectly.
Justin asked, "Uncle Edward, could you please tell me how to work out these questions?"
Smith raised his eyes and said, "You study so actively recently. Did she bewitch you?"
Justin told him the truth, "I don't want to play soccer in a team with her. Last time I was dragged down by her."
Smith didn't say anything and then taught Justin how to work out the questions. He said very quickly, and Justin couldn't understand some of the solution ideas. Justin said he didn't understand, and Smith tried to express it clearly. They argued for a long time without making these questions clear. Finally, Smith said, "Ask Jane when she comes tomorrow."
Justin held the pen and paper and looked down, with dissatisfaction on his face. He said, "I always think you are better than her, but you even can't teach a junior high school student."
Smith said, "I can earn money to hire tutors for you, but you just make mischief to the tutors."
Justin said, "When I grow up, I will earn money to send you to the best nursing home."
After saying that, Justin took papers and pens to the door. Looking at his back, Smith said, "Don't boast. You should keep your words. The best nursing home now charges thousands of dollars a month."
Justin said without looking back, "I'll start saving my pocket money from now on."
