Chapter 82 Help Aaron In The Kitchen

Chapter 82: Help Aaron In The Kitchen
Aaron invited Charles in the names of him and Jane. They made an appointment to meet at eight o'clock in the evening. At six o'clock, Jane and Aaron went home with bags of food.
Standing in the kitchen, Aaron slowly washed the fruit, while Jane was busy cutting vegetables and meat. At the same time, she said to him, "I'll cook the soup first and prepare the main dishes for you. The cold dishes can be placed on the table directly. You can cut the fruit, right?"
Aaron said, "When Charles comes, say you have an appointment with Jennifer and you have to leave."
Jane looked indifferent, "Although you can't cook, you're good at making excuses."
Aaron said, "You're such a kind and beautiful lady. You won't make a fuss about this, will you?"
Jane said, "Such words are only useful to Jennifer."
Aaron complained, "She's rich but stingy. You can praise her for her beauty, but don't think about borrowing money from her."
Jane couldn't help laughing, "I'm going to tell her about it."
Aaron said, "Go ahead. If I transfer some money to her, she'll be pleased and let me scold her more."
Jane nodded, "Yeah, she's indeed spineless."
They were supposed to meet at eight, and Charles arrived at seven forty. Fortunately, everything in the kitchen was ready. As soon as the doorbell rang, Jane immediately took off the apron and wore it for Aaron.
Jane went to open the door. Charles stepped in with red wine and dessert and asked, "Where's Aaron?"
Jane smiled and said, "He's cooking in the kitchen."
At this time, Aaron rushed out with a kitchen knife, and said with a smile, "Charles, welcome! Sit down and make yourself at home. I'm cooking in the kitchen. Jane will chat with you."
Charles put down the wine and went to the kitchen. He stood at the door and said, "Wow! How delicate dishes! Aaron, you're good at cooking."
Aaron smiled and said, "Thank you. These are ordinary dishes. I don't know if you'll like them."
Charles said, "I'm quite picky about food. If the dishes are not tasty, I won't eat much though I won't comment."
Aaron said, "If you don't like these, we can go to a restaurant. Just tell me what you like."
Charles smiled and said, "Since you say so, I promise I won't say the food tastes foul."
Jane's eyes were full of relief when they talked harmoniously. Aaron didn't know how to cook, and he was cutting the food while speaking. Jane was afraid that Aaron would cut his fingers, so she took Charles to the living room and chatted with him.
Charles said, "Aaron doesn't have a girlfriend now, does he?"
Jane said, "No, he sets high demands on his lover, and he doesn't like those ordinary people."
Charles said with a smile, "He is so handsome, and he can cook. I believe many girls like him. Why don't I introduce some girls to him?"
Jane said loudly, "Aaron, Charles is asking you if you want him to introduce some girls to you."
Aaron replied, "I don't like women."
Charles said with a smile, "What kind of men do you like? I know a lot of excellent young men."
Aaron came out of the kitchen with a plate of sticks and said to Charles, "Sorry, I have someone I like. I don't want to be with anyone else."
His words were partly sincere and partly false. After saying that, he left. Charles whispered to Jane, "Does he like you?"
Jane almost raised her hands to swear, "If we liked each other, we would have got married."
Charles said with a smile, "I don't know about others, but I know it's so hard to win your heart. I don't know what kind of person you like."
Jane was very clever and asked, "Tell me what kind of person you like first."

Charles said, "Now my career is more important. How could I be in a relationship? It's a waste of time."
Jane stretched out her hand, "Great minds think alike."
As they chatted, Aaron brought out the dishes from the kitchen. There were sticks, chicken soup, and steamed fish. Charles had a good appetite and couldn't help asking, "Why would you cook such dishes?"
Aaron said, "Because I know these are your favorites."
Charles said, "I'm so surprised. It seems that I'll enjoy superb food today."
Looking at Charles's smiling face, Aaron was so pleased that he almost cut his hand by accident. Jane tipped him a wink and reminded him to be careful. How could he always look back at Charles with admiring eyes?
What Aaron needed to do was simple. Aaron was smart, and Charles didn't sense anything wrong. When Aaron put the last dish on the table, Charles said, "Thank you for cooking for us. Come and eat."
Jane's phone rang. She went to the living room to answer it. It was Henry who called her.
"Are you available now?" He asked.
Jane replied, "Yeah."
"Can you come out?"
"Where are you?"
They made an appointment to meet. Jane hung up the phone and went back to the dining room, "Charles, have dinner with Aaron. I have something urgent to deal with, and I'm going out."
Charles asked, "What's the matter?"
Jane said, "A student wants to see me. He is not in a good mood today. I'll meet him."
Aaron gave her a thankful look. He thought Jane had changed her excuse temporarily. Although he praised her in his heart, he said, "Do you want me to send you there?"
Jane wanted to roll her eyes at him, "No, stay and accompany Charles for dinner."
She went out of Aaron's house, went back to her house upstairs, and changed her clothes before going out. Henry was nearby, and they soon met.
Henry looked listless and said, "Choose a bar you like. I'll buy you a drink."
Jane took him to a porridge shop and ordered two bowls of porridge. Henry said expressionlessly, "I mean wine."
Jane said, "What's the difference between porridge and wine? Anyway, you just want to drink something."
Henry looked at the expensive porridge in front of Jane and then looked at the cheap plain porridge in front of himself. He said calmly but helplessly, "It's my treat. Are you annoying me deliberately?"
Jane drank the porridge and said without raising her head, "You're losing weight, aren't you?"
Henry was speechless.
Jane looked as composed as usual and said casually, "Tell me why you're confused. I can give you some ideas."
Henry seemed to say to himself, "If the person you like wants you to change, does it mean she doesn't really like you?"
Jane said, "It depends on what he wants me to change. If he thinks I'm too smart, should I pretend to be stupid? If he thinks I'm too kind, should I become cruel?"
Henry said, "If she judges people by their appearance... She doesn't judge people by their appearance. I know she likes guys who're thin and have good grades, but I'm not such a guy. Should I change for her?"
Jane said, "It depends on your definitions of being thin and having good grades. If you think being thin is nice and having good grades is not bad, it means she wants you to get better. Then why don't you try to improve yourself? But if you think it's not wrong to be fat and having good grades is not an advantage, you don't have to change for her. Just be yourself."
Henry said, "I thought you would say being fat is okay but I have to improve my study."
Jane said, "There are thousands of thin people who study well, but you're the only one who doesn't like to study. You're special."
Henry was easy to be touched. His eyes were brimming with tears when he heard Jane's words.
