Chapter 212 Be A Man, Dignity Comes First
Jane Cooper didn't have a weak heart, and she didn't want Edward Smith to win. Just like when he started yesterday, bullying her.
In the final game, there was no need to hide anymore. Everyone has their talent.
She started the game with a kill, successfully provoking Edward, who immediately followed suit. The first eight balls were still a back-and-forth affair, with the score tightly knitted together.
Jane was so determined that she didn't want Edward to reach the match point. When Edward noticed a chance, he squeezed his wrist and launched the ball in the direction of the opposing side of the court.
It was too fast and too impressive.
Jane was the first to get her tenth point, secretly tensing up. There was one ball short.
She appeared to have no intention when Edward stared at her face, but she was taking a deep breath to change her rhythm. Seeing how serious she was about winning, a thought flashed through his mind, "why not let her win?"
It didn't matter if she was cooking for Justin or signing lessons. She most desired to triumph once, just once.
In Justin's absence, Edward took a new ball. Not in a haste to serve it, he stood by the table's edge and asked carelessly, "Eager to win?"
Jane took a sip of water and raised his eyes to look at him.
Edward said, "I can let you."
Jane instantly smiled, "Mr. Smith mustn't be polite, we speak on merit, I can afford to lose." Likewise, she could afford to win.
Edward bounced the ping-pong ball on the table, saying as he did so, "Admit defeat now and only lose half."
Jane said, "Double if I win?"
Seeing that she would not budge at all, Edward said, "Don't cry if you lose."
Jane put her water bottle aside, "Don't worry, you just don't hit me in the face."
Edward got the key ball. From the very beginning, he gave her full pressure. Jane held her breath, no one in her eyes but the ball. The ball bounced back and forth after three or four times. She increased her power abruptly. The small yellow ball on the table in front of Edward and bounced a little, and then straight to his face.
He couldn't even get close to the ball. As she prepared to celebrate her well-earned victory, Jane clenched her fist. But just as she was about to smile, she saw the ping pong ball smashed into Edward's head. Edward took the hit without dodging.
"Yeah, are you alright?"
Jane temporarily switched from being happy to being sympathetic.
Edward asked, standing there with a blank expression, "Happy?"
She not only defeated him but also exacted retribution for last night's forehead flick. However, she couldn't say anything. She could only say, "I didn't hit your eye, did I? Sorry, I didn't mean to."
She didn't show any mercy when Edward tried to give her a break, instead punching him in the face.
"Water," Edward ordered with a scowl.
Jane took a bottle of water and handed it to him. Edward tilted his head and drank a third of it, then lowered his head, looked at her and said, "I lost you two hundred knots, but I have time to make it up to you in the next two days."
Jane quickly said, "No, I was joking earlier."
Edward said, "I can afford to lose."
Jane said, "It's mainly for the exercise after dinner, the bet was just for fun. You don't have to take it seriously."
Edward said, "I'm always serious. Today I can't help it. If you lose, I'll still make you cook dinner for Justin for a month."
Jane said, "Justin is welcome to spend a month's worth of dinners at my house. You don't have to make up 200 lessons for me."
Edward asked, "You don't want money?"

Jane said, "A friendly competition, happy first, the others take a back seat."
Edward said, "I can see that you are quite happy, especially the last goal."
Jane hastened to defend himself, "No, I won because you were so kind."
Edward said, "So you hit without mercy."
Jane didn't argue, but changed her story, "When I play with you, I have to be serious, otherwise it would be disrespectful to you."
Edward was close to believing her, respecting? Would respect purposely hit the ball at his face?
As the two were talking, Justin came back from afar and took one look at the two and asked, "You've finished, haven't you?"
Edward remained silent, while Jane said, "From tomorrow onwards, dinner will be arranged at my place."
Justin's eyes were slightly raised, "You lost?"
Jane shrugged her shoulders and did not say anything.
Edward thought she had been holding back so much energy and wanted to win so she could take her anger out in front of Justin, just like she did last night.
"I lost," Edward spoke up, looking normal.
Justin looked at him with surprise in his eyes, "Who won or lost between you two?"
Justin said, "Just know that you'll be hanging out with me for dinner for the next month after that."
Justin looked at Edward, who didn't object.
At 9 pm, the three of them left the gym. The two buildings were not together. They were about to go their separate ways. Jane greeted the two of them and turned to go to one side, while Edward and Justin returned side by side.
On the way, Justin asked, "Why did the Bad Teacher ask me to go to her place for a month of dinner when you lost?"
Edward said, "She likes you."
Justin's face was expressionless, and after a moment of silence he said, "It's not given that she likes you."
Edward's heart was slightly moved, but he did not move his face and said, "From where can you tell?"
Justin said, "She is so desperate to succeed. But when she succeeds, what does she want? She doesn't do it for the money. Initially, I believed you had severely beat her yesterday, and she was present today to recoup her losses. If she didn't want to make you happy, why would she be hiding deep now and giving you face?"
Edward gave a glance at Justin, "Who told you all this?"
Justin looked ahead, "Can't I have my judgment?"
Edward said, "You haven't even met a few women yet, and you're analyzing women's hearts with me?"
Justin said, "So many people have spent their whole lives studying, but they fail to see how good their grades are."
He gave this example in a crooked way, but it was impossible to refute it.
Edward said, "Do you want to talk about your sudden improvement in grades or the importance of knowing Jane?"
Justin said, "There is only one day between my birthday and hers. We share the same zodiac sign. You have to believe me, I may not understand the hearts of all women, but I can guess what is in her mind."
Although Edward did not take Justin's words seriously. Some of them sounded very pleasant to the ears, so he asked again, "Do you think she likes me?"
Who would have expected Justin to change his words again, "Maybe not, but I just don't want to make a scene. After all, with my relationship with her, if she doesn't give you face, I'm afraid I'll have a hard time."
After all, Jane was giving him face for Justin's sake?
Edward couldn't help but smirk, "I've been lucky to have you."
Justin said smoothly, "Don't bully her in the future, or I'll be caught in the middle and find it hard to live with myself."
Thoroughly defeated, Edward did a slight nod and said, "Fine, I'll give you that face."
