Chapter 209 Pain and Happiness
She was lying under him. Edward didn't want to hurt her, so he was gonna spread his legs and kept his hands on the ground. But seeing him was going to fall on top of her, Jane immediately bent her knees. Well who knows, they were just between his legs.
"H'm..."
Hearing his groan, Jane clearly felt his tensed arms loosen. Edward fell down weakly, and his head grazed her cheek and finally buried in her neck.
It was out of the blue, and Jane was terrified. Not only because Edward was pressing against her, but also because of the wrong move she did just now. Though she knew that he didn't want to hurt her, she... just couldn't help it.
With the right arm firmly pressed to the ground by his left hand, Jane could only move her left hand. But she didn't dare to push him. Edward buried his head on top of her and didn't raise it for a long time. One could easily felt his anger and pain which couldn't be related.
As time passed by, Jane had already quietly flattened her knees, but Edward was still kneeling on top of her with his head buried. If it wasn't for the hot breath at her neck, Jane would have thought he had fainted from the pain.
"Mr. Smith..." Jane whispered, with a tentative tone.
"Shut up." Edward said with a deep voice. Obviously, he was still angry.
It is as well yo know which way the wind blows. Jane apologized immediately, "I'm so sorry, Mr. Smith."
Edward ignored her, and Jane became more and more embarrassed. Although it was her fault, she couldn't stand a man burying his face in her neck. So she kept her lower body still, and tried her best to turn her upper body and head to the right.
It took few seconds for Edward to tolerate the pain there, and god knows how he survived during this time. The reason why he didn't take the anger out on her was that he was accomplished, not because she was lucky.
Raising his head, Edward didn't get up immediately. He kept looking down at Jane and asked, "What do you mean?"
He stood with his back to the light, so his face was blurry even at short distance. Jane couldn't see his expression, and only knew that he was very angry. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." she hurriedly said.
Of course Edward knew she didn't mean it. He stared at her deeply for a moment, and asked in a deep voice, " Is it all?"
Being in the darkness, Jane was a little bit at a loss. Though she knew that she had made something wrong, she didn't know how to make up for it. And this kind of feeling really made her speechless.
After a few seconds of silence, she asked tentatively, "Can you get up now?"
Edward said in a deep voice, "No."
He just wanted to see what she was gonna do.
Jane couldn't do anything. She raised her hand and put it on his chest. "I'll give you a hand."
She was pushing him harder and harder, but Edward just didn't move. Jane felt that she was in a big trouble.
When she was a child, she often saw the couple next door fought and the woman always kicked the lower body of the man. Once, the man was kicked to his knees and couldn't get up for a long time. And when he got up again, he pulled the belt and wanna kill his wife. Later, Ellie and the people around ran over to sort it out and persuaded the couple not to be too over when fighting, especially don't touch men's that part.
It seemed that men who were attacked here would become manic in an instant. Jane was very grateful that Edward did not beat her.
Edward rarely saw the sincere guilt in Jane's eyes. And it seemed that she really didn't know what to do. He thought that when she was set up last time, he went to help her, but she pulled his hair and pinched his waist. Their faces were almost stuck together just noe, and he thought that she would definitely hit him. Fortunately, she didn't do anything. Otherwise, he might have done something out of anger.
Being so mean for a while, Edward suddenly sat on the ground. Jane quickly got up, and squatted up with her hands on her back. "Are you feeling better?" he looked at him and asked.
Edward deliberately pulled a long face and said, "You tell me?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't do it on purpose..."
"You've got the gene for revenge for kindness."
Jane clearly knew that she was blamed for the wrong thing she did. "If it really hurts, let's just go to the hospital." she said honestly.
Edward didn't look at her, and said to himself, "Give me the cigarette, it's on the chair."
Jane got up immediately and walked quickly to the bench. Edward's cigarette and lighter were placed on the chair, and she brought them together and handed them to him.
His hands were dirty, so he knocked out a cigarette, had it in his mouth, and then lit it.
It's not aprropriate for her to stand and talked to him, so she squatted aside and said, "Calm down please. I'll make a sesame cake tomorrow and ask Justin to bring it back to you."
Edward looked sideways. Facing forward the light, his face was sharp and outlined. Though he was handsome, he seemed to have a short fuse.
Edward frowned slightly and said, "I've suffered a lot. And you just give me a cake?"
Jane shook her head and said sincerely, "I feel so sorry about that. And this is what I want to use for an apology. If you have any other demands, just tell me."
She was so honest and squatted in front of him, just like a rabbit. Edward would feel soft-hearted at first glance, but when he recalled how ruthless this rabbit was a few minutes ago, he was determined not to let her go easily.
"Don't ask me what I want, it's up to you. Edward puffed a cigarette to one side. Actually, it didn't hurt anymore.
Jane was very worried. She couldn't compensate him by food or drink, and she also couldn't give him money.
After thinking for a while, Jane said, "How about hitting back?"
Edward turned his head slowly, and said seriously, "How can I hit you? And where can I hit?"
Jane quietly put her head over. "Go right ahead."
Besides her head, she really didn't know which part could be compared with his lifeblood.
Seeing this, Edward said, "Do you think I won't hit you? "
Jane looked down. "It's okay, come on."
Seeing her strong sense of righteousness, Edward couldn't stand it anymore and made an instant decision. He suddenly stretched out his hand and flicked her forehead so hard.
"Crack." the sound was crisp and loud.
To be honest, Jane didn't expect Edward to hit her, and she also didn't expect that he would suddenly flick her forehead. While Edward thought that he didn't flicked her so hard. But Jane was shocked and frightened, and she immediately reached out her hands to cover her forehead. Edward was in a tizzy.
Hearing the sound, Edward knew that he had overdone it. And when he saw her reaction, he couldn't help but ask , "Does it hurt?"
Jane felt a burning pain in her forehead. After touching it for a while, she kept her hands off it, raised her eyes and said, "We are even."
It was hard to distinguish her emotion from her face. "No way. Make me two sesame cakes tomorrow, and then I'll think about not to make things hard for you." Edward said.
Before Jane agreed clearly, Edward looked over her shoulder and saw that Justin came back with a bag in his hand which fulled of all kinds of drinks.
Edward stood up with his arms propped up and walked towards Justin. And when Justin looked at Jane who was squatting there and got up slowly, he looked at Edward with a strange expression.
Edward took a bottle of water and said calmly, "She was totally convinced by me."
