Chapter 230 Nothing Can Be Done
Outside the door, the boy yelled the full name of his sister who was ten years older than him. With Jane by her side, Eloise dared to reply to the boy loudly, "Don't disturb me. Won't you do it by yourself?"
Rhett shouted back even louder, "You shall see!"
Eloise didn't budge an inch. The boy would just tell her mother at most, which she was used to.
Jane said, "You have to refuse him, and you can refuse your friends and relatives around you. Just tolerating will only make him feel that you are easily bullied and that you have to do anything for him."
Jane's words "you have to do anything for him" touched Eloise's raw nerves. Ever since her brother was born, her parents had always said to her, "You are the older sister, so you have to humor your brother. He is still young. What does he know?"
However, Rhett had told her the year before, "I just want to bully you, and you deserve it. Mommy and daddy only love me."
He knew everything clearly, but his parents chose to be blind to it with their wishful thinking.
In the bedroom, Jane and Eloise continued their lesson. After just a few minutes, they suddenly heard the howl from outside. A dog was barking.
The Wright family had a corgi, which was the only thing in the house that made Eloise feel some warmth. The corgi was a gift from her mother who reluctantly gave the dog to her when she got into the top 20 in the school last year.
When Eloise heard the barking, she reacted much faster than Jane. She stood up and rushed out of the bedroom, followed by Jane. She came to the living room, seeing that Rhett was holding a gun and aiming at the dog hiding on the sofa. Eloise rushed to grab his gun in anger.
Rhett yelled, "Don't touch me!"
Eloise shouted, "Give me the gun!"
Rhett said, "No, let me go..."
They scuffled in the living room. Rhett twisted his features and pointed the gun at Eloise's glasses. At such a short range, Eloise would be blind if she was shot.
Jane strode over to Rhett. She pulled the gun high with one hand and pushed Rhett away with the other hand. She was different from Eloise, and she wouldn't be polite with the little bastard, pushing him with much force. The boy was pushed backward, and he loosened the gun. However, he still pulled the trigger at the last moment. 'Bang', the boy shot the bullet into the air, and the bullet fell somewhere.
From the moment he aimed at Eloise to the moment he fired, it only took two seconds. Fortunately, Jane stopped him in time, otherwise, it would be a disaster.
Eloise stood still in a daze, feeling confused with the remaining shock. Rhett wasn't afraid at all, and he only knew that Jane had taken his gun. He stood in the same place and shouted with anger, "Give me the gun!"
People could predict how Rhett would be in the future by seeing how he behaved at the age of seven. He would be a rascal even if he was well educated.
Jane looked at Rhett coldly. Suddenly, she lifted her leg and kicked the gun. With a click, the long gun was split into two pieces in her hand, and then she threw the two pieces of broken guns at Rhett's feet, "Here you are."
Rhett was shocked and totally stunned. Jane's face turned red for a moment because she secretly struck hard, so now her leg was so painful. Fortunately, the gun was broken, so it wasn't shameful.
Eloise was also shocked, peeking at Jane with implicit admiration. Rhett looked at his gun at his feet and then raised his eyes to look at Jane. Suddenly, he ran at her like a madman. This time, Eloise reacted surprisingly fast, and she stopped in front of Jane in one step and kept off a series of punches and kicks for her.
Jane didn't advocate violence and even feared violence, but at the same time, there was violence in her heart. She dared to cut people with a knife when she was very young, so she was more afraid of committing crimes on impulse when she grew up. She had been trying to calm herself over these years, but she gradually lost patience in front of such a scene.
Eloise blocked Rhett and bore all the beat without fighting back. Jane couldn't stand and went to pull Rhett away, but suddenly she felt hurt on the back of her hand. She looked down and found a long scratch on her hand, with blood slowly gurgling up from the deepest.
Jane held Eloise with one hand and pulled Rhett's arm with the other. She secretly put forth her strength until Rhett couldn't stand the pain and had to let go of Eloise.
Before Rhett became crazy, Jane dodged and blocked in front of Eloise, pointing at Rhett's face and saying coldly, "You can try it again. I am not your sister, so I will beat you."
Jane pointed at the back of her right hand, on which was a clear scratch. With her sharp eyes staring at Rhett, she also didn't seem to make fun of him. Rhett wasn't irritated anymore and stood in place. Who said that children didn't know how to behave? A normal person could take a hint. The seven-year-old Rhett understood everything, but he was just fearless of everything.
They stood still in the living room. Being stared at by Jane, Rhett didn't dare to run wild. They kept silent until the door was suddenly opened. They first saw a lot of shopping bags, followed by the glamorously dressed hostess.
Seeing his mother, Rhett suddenly cried out, "Mommy..."
The woman was startled, hurriedly put down her things, and walked inside with her shoes on. She came to Rhett and held him. Glancing at the broken gun on the ground, she immediately looked at Eloise and frowned, saying, "What's going on? Why did you make your brother cry?"
Eloise said, "He shot at Coco with the gun and..."
Rhett suddenly cried louder and pointed at Jane and Eloise, saying, "Mommy, they beat me. They bullied me when you weren't home. Look, she even broke my gun. Mommy..."
Hearing Rhett's words, the woman immediately looked at Jane and Eloise with harsh eyes, saying, "Did you hit Rhett?"
Jane lifted her right hand with no expression, with the back of her hand facing the woman. Jane said, "Mrs. Wright, your son did this, and..." She pulled Eloise to her side, showing the woman Eloise's hands which were scratched with red marks, and continued, "We didn't bully him when you weren't home. It's he that has been beating Eloise with a gun since I came in, and several times he almost beat her eyes if she didn't dodge quickly."
The woman looked at Eloise who wore glasses and frowned, saying, "Rhett is young, and you're ten years older than him. You're almost an adult, and you need to humor your brother. I've only been away from home for a while, and you've done this. Are you a good sister?"
Eloise dropped her eyes and didn't say anything. She seemed to disappear as she didn't have any emotions. Suddenly, Rhett rushed out from the woman's arms and kicked Eloise. Jane pulled Eloise away in time so that he didn't kick so hard.
Rhett yelled, "Get out! All of you, get out! This is my house!"
Rhett started to run wild again since he knew his mother would support him. The woman held him and comforted him, saying, "Okay. Okay. Don't be angry, my dear. Let's take a look at something mommy bought you."
Rhett was unreasonable and pointed at Jane, saying, "Mommy, you must drive her out. I don't like her. She beat me."
The woman had heard about Jane's background and didn't dare to accuse her too much. She could only persuade Rhett, "Stop messing around, and mommy will buy you another gun. Mommy will buy whatever you want."
Jane was completely speechless. If the poor Eloise wasn't in the horrible family, she would have quit immediately.
On the way back, Jane was in a very low mood. It had nothing to do with her own injury, but she couldn't do anything for Eloise. It's even difficult for a judge to make an accurate decision about another's family, let alone she was just an outsider. They could ignore her even though she said a lot, and she could do nothing.
Eloise was poor. The damage caused by her original family was eternal and wouldn't be erased with time. It would be hidden deep in her heart.
Happy people spend their lives being healed by their childhood, but unfortunate people spend their lives healing their childhood.
Jane had also survived such a horrible situation, but she didn't know how Eloise's future would be.
Getting out of the car and walking towards the neighborhood, she heard the sound of blue balls on the basketball court, she was not in the mood to look up, but she heard someone call out to her: "Bad teacher."
Jane heard the sound and turned her head. On the court were two figures, a tall one and a short one. They were Edward and Justin.
