Chapter 42 My Younger Sister
More than 1.85 meters, even wearing the simplest black pants and white shirt, he stood out from the crowd, not to mention his handsome face. How could someone ignore his existence?
It's Ken.
Ken originally came to Jane. She looked familiar, so he wanted to take a closer look. Suddenly, she turned around and met his gaze. He smiled.
The women behind Jane were fascinated, not sure who Ken was smiling at, and all of them quickly showed their smiles. One of them who had met Ken a few times and had spoken to him immediately said, "Hi, Ken."
Ken walked forward, looking away from Jane's face. He pretended not to know her, and Jane didn't say a word either.
When the short-haired woman saw Ken come over, she was overjoyed, thinking that she was somebody to him. She said as if she was acquainted with him, "I didn't know Lori also invited you. When did you come?"
"I was just arrived."
Standing about a meter away from Jane, Ken seemed to be in a good mood with a good-looking smile on his handsome face.
The short-haired woman's vanity was greatly satisfied. She said some general things at first, making people think that Ken and she often met each other, and then introduced a few people around her to Ken. Ken was calm and suddenly turned his head to look at Jane.
Seeing this, the short-haired woman said, "We don't know her very well, and she's not in this circle."
Ken looked at Jane for one second, two seconds, and three seconds... He fixed his eyes on her for so long that others thought it was impolite. Jane couldn't help nodding her head and said softly, "Mr. Garcia."
Ken smiled, but the words sounded like blame, "Didn't you say that you would say hello to me when we met again? Now you want to pretend you don't know me?"
As soon as these words came out, the women beside were stunned and wondered what was going on.
Jane opened her big eyes and said nonsense, "I didn't recognize you just now."
Ken found it interesting. How could she come up with this excuse?
"Am I so ordinary?" he asked with a smile, obviously not blaming her, just playing a joke.
Jane answered, "I forgot to wear contact lenses."
Ken took a breath, but there was nothing he could do about her.
Jane didn't expect to meet Ken on such a private occasion. She didn't want to have more contact with him, because he was different from Beth. Edward would not care about her appointment with Beth, but if she got too close to Ken, she would be suspected of her loyalty.
She was thinking about how to leave here, when Ken turned his head to several women with different expressions opposite him, and said, "She's my younger sister."
Wearing a little embarrassed smile, the short-haired woman asked, "When did you have a sister?"
Without thinking, he said, "My name is Ken, and her name is Jane. You can guess when I got a sister.or go to ask my dad."
Ken wore a half-smile, and the short-haired woman didn't know what to say. The atmosphere was awkward for a while.
Ken looked at Jane with another expression, and said as if no one else was here, "Who did you come with?"
Jane said, "My friend."
He asked, "Which friend, male or female?"
Jane didn't answer, while those women aside who were ignored couldn't continue to stand here or listen, and walked away with embarrassment.
As soon as they left, Jane said, "Excuse me, Mr. Garcia..."
Ken interrupted her immediately, "Who else could you talk to here if you don't chat with me?"
Jane didn't answer but asked, "Anything else?"
Ken said, "Why can't I talk to you if I want nothing?"
The position where they were standing was not hidden, and many eyes were watching them at all times. Jane said in a low sound, "Mr. Garcia, I'm not in this circle, and I don't want to be seen as a fool."
Her voice was so low that Ken couldn't hear it clearly, so he lowered his head slightly and asked, "You don't want to be seen as... what?"
Jane said, "A fool."
He asked, "Why not a clown?"
Jane stared at him without response. He laughed and said, "Let's go."
He was about to leave, but Jane stood still. Ken looked at her. "Don't you want to find a place with few people?"
Jane was helpless and thought she was unlucky today. She couldn't do anything about him but follow him forward. When they were about to reach the door of the villa, Beth came over. Of course, she knew that Edward and Ken didn't get along well, so she didn't even look at Ken, but said to Jane, "Where are you going?"
Before Jane said anything, Ken answered directly, "Go to the restroom, together?"
Beth looked at Ken. He looked back at her still calmly, but after two seconds, she looked away and smiled at Jane. "Come back to me later. I have kept a seat for you."
Jane nodded lightly with a smile and watched Beth leave. This was the first time she felt that Beth was useless because she just left.
Ken took Jane to the courtyard of the villa, and there would be a banquet soon. Everyone was indoors, so there was almost no one in the yard. By the fountain, Jane said, "Mr. Garcia, I will say hello first when we meet next time."
She took the initiative to speak, and she looked very cool. Ken asked laughing, "Do you think I called you out to bring that thing up?"
Jane didn't respond because she didn't care at all.
Ken asked, "You know Beth?"
Jane said yes.
Ken said, "Do you know her relationship with your client, Mr. Smith?"
Jane answered, "I am not interested in the privacy of clients."
Ken said, "Well, let me guess the reason why you are here today. You don't know anyone in this house, and only Beth talked to you... Did she deliberately invite you to make a fool of you?"
Jane didn't answer, and Ken said to himself, "Edward is garbage, but the garbage may also be scrambled by hungry dogs. Stay away from Beth. She is not a good person."
Jane said, "Thank you, Mr. Garcia."
Ken asked grinning, "How about standing by my side? I don't have so many bad guys around me, and I won't let anyone set traps for you."
Jane replied calmly, "There's no adult education business in Forward Education. If you're going to have a child now, I can promise you to teach him or her from a young age. I can't guarantee you a Ph.D., but a Master's degree should be fine."
Ken smiled, his fair face illuminated by the light, and said, "I almost doubt whether you are an undercover agent sent by my father."
Jane didn't understand it at first until he said the following words, "There are various reasons for my family to persuade me to get married, but what you said just now is the only one that a little tempts me."
Since there was no one else and Ken was about to wear out her patience, Jane couldn't control her emotions at that moment, and said, "Of all virtues, filial piety is most important. Think twice before doing anything, even for the sake of the elders in your family. A spur of the moment is the demon. Bearing a grudge may hurt you. Take a step back and you will get more than you expected..."
Ken listened for a while, "What do you want to say?"
Jane raised her head and answered sincerely, "You and Mr. Smith are not ordinary people, so could you not put me in the middle when you two fight?"
