Chapter 39: Edward Is a Sweet Tooth
Although it was hard for ordinary people to see Edward, he had come here for several times. It seemed to have become something normal.
In a short period of time, he came to Forward Education frequently either to sign or renew the contract. People were no longer surprised. Yesterday, Jane said that she wanted to have two classes a day, and he came here to buy two hundred classes obediently.
Jane didn't ask him to buy two hundred classes. She didn't want him to think that she was petty, so she offered a hundred classes. However, when he renewed the contract with Sofia, he mentioned two hundred classes without changing his expression. He must think she was petty.
As a result, she had to give Justin three hundred classes in total. Even if she gave him two classes a day, she had to teach him until the end of the year.
Gift blinded the eyes. Others only knew Edward renewed the contract again and again, but they didn't know what she experienced in the Smith family everyday.
Setting her wits with Justin's was hard, and sometimes she had to abandon her own dignity.
Justin was too lazy to get out of bed. Everyday, it required lots of patience and tenderness to wake him up.
One day, he suddenly had an idea, covered himself with the quilt and said, "Sing a song for me."
Jane stood by the bed with a helpless face and said calmly, "I can't sing."
Justin said in a muffled voice, "Then I'll sleep for another half an hour."
Soon, a familiar but strange melody sounded, "We were both young when I first saw you. I closed my eyes and the flashback starts..."
Originally, Justin was sleepy. However, hearing her singing, he felt cold all over, looked out of the quilt and glared at Jane, "You sing like this on purpose, don't you?"
Jane stopped and said calmly, "I said I couldn't sing."
Justin didn't believe her. He didn't believe that she could sing a famous song so badly. He could only recognize it by the lyrics.
He frowned and said, "Sing 'Blank Space' for me."
Jane didn't refuse. She immediately took out her phone without saying a word, and then sang to the lyrics on the screen, "Nice to meet you. When you been? I could show you incredible things..."
Justin's cold body shivered for no reason. He was gooseflesh all over and no longer felt sleepy.
A few seconds later, he interrupted her, "I let you sing, not rap."
Jane stared at his face with her beautiful eyes, "My singing just gets out of tune. It's normal, isn't it?"
Justin pursed his lips. He had never seen someone whose singing could get out of tune like this. She was out of tune while singing!
After this, Justin didn't dare to sleep again. When he closed his eyes and washed his face, Jane's weird voice still echoed in his ears. It was horrible. She was pretty, but her singing was extremely terrible!
They had two classes in a row, and there was a twenty minute break. Justin played with cats and dogs in the room, and Jane read quietly aside. He suddenly asked, "Did Beth make things difficult for you?"
Jane looked up at him and said, "No."
Justin combed a German shepherd and said without raising his head, "Now the three of us are allies. If she dares to make things difficult for you, you don't have to be afraid."
Jane knew what he meant, but she asked, "The three of us? Who's the third person?"
Justin raised his head and Jane said, "Oh, your Uncle Edward."
While combing the dog, Justin said neither coldly nor warmly, "It's said that I'm Uncle Edward's son. You know the truth now. Aren't you curious to know why my family hasn't refuted the rumor?"
Jane had thought about it indeed, but curiosity killed the cat. She smiled, "I'm not curious."
Justin moved his lips, "But you've known it."
After saying that, he added without waiting for her answer, "Uncle Edward renewed the contract with you not because you are beautiful, but to stop you from letting out the secret. Don't think he is easy to get along with. If there is no gossip outside, you'll be fine. However, if there's such gossip, you will be the first one to suffer!"
Jane said, "Thanks to you, now my performance is finally not the worst in the company."
Justin looked at her and asked, "Is this the point?"
Jane replied with clear eyes, "I don't have a big mouth. Keeping secrets is my strong point. How wonderful it is to make money with my strong point!"
Justin couldn't help but snort. He just wanted to scare her, but he didn't expect her to be so confident. He remembered when they met for the first time, she smiled and said to him, "I'm not afraid of everything that can move when it's alive and can't move when it's dead."
He thought she was boasting, but it seemed that she was right. He was neither enticed by the carrot nor browbeaten by the stick, and she knew when to yield and when not. He couldn't anything to scare her.
Glancing at the watch on the wall, Jane found that it was eleven o'clock in the morning. In the past, it was time for the first class, but they were having the second class currently. Jane asked Justin to put down the cats and dogs and pick up the book. Justin said, "Do you want me to get up before you come every day?"
Jane answered honestly, "Yes."
Justin said, "Uncle Edward must be sleeping now. If you wake him up, I promise I'll get up on time in the future."
Jane looked away calmly. While sorting out the paper and pens, she said, "There's no need. I'll practice more songs when I go back today. In the future, I'll sing one for you every morning."
Justin's face suddenly darkened when he heard this, "Why don't you dare to sing for Uncle Edward?"
Jane said, "I'm not his private teacher."
Justin said, "But he pays you."
Jane raised her head and smiled gently at him, "So why should I annoy the man who pays me?"
Patting the chair, she said kindly, "Sit down, Mr. Smith."
As soon as Justin sat down, she changed her expression, "Justin, tell me your idea when you solve this problem."
Justin... was a little unaccustomed to her sudden change.
After the class was over, Jane went downstairs with Justin. Sam went forward, "The lunch is ready."
Justin asked, "Where's Uncle Edward?"
Sam said, "He's still sleeping. He came back in the morning."
Justin was not surprised at all. He just said as usual, "Ask the chef to prepare him a cake. Let's have lunch."
Edward had asked Jane to have lunch here everyday. Originally, she wanted to refuse. However, thinking that Justin had to eat alone in this big house if Edward didn't come back or get up, she suddenly felt a little sad in heart.
They ate together. Justin didn't speak while eating, and Jane took the initiative to say, "Edward treats you very well."
Justin said, "Do you want to talk about Uncle Edward again?"
Jane's expression didn't change as she said, "I just feel that sometimes you're more like an elder, and he's like your junior. But I have to remind you something. Just spoil him and don't indulge him. Eating too much sweet is bad for his health."
Justin said, "He's picky about food and doesn't like anything else except for sweet."
Jane subconsciously wanted to ask why he didn't persuade Edward since he was young. However, looking at Justin who was only twelve years old, she couldn't help laughing.
Justin raised his head, "What are you laughing at?"
Jane waved her hand. The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to laugh. Justin asked, "Do you despise Uncle Edward?"
Jane said, "We can't judge someone by his appearance. It seems that Edward is a sweet tooth, just like a little girl."
Justin said nothing. Jane picked up the cup. Just as she was about to drink, she caught a glimpse of a white shadow. Then Edward, who was wearing a white bathrobe, walked over. He had just had a bath, and his hair was half wet. With a small cake in his hand, he pulled the chair at the main position and sat down expressionlessly.
Jane didn't know whether to swallow or spit the juice.
