Chapter 32 The Three Embarrassing Questions

Chapter 32 The Three Embarrassing Questions
Jane stood in the same place without looking at other people, but only said to Garcia, "Thanks for your kindness, but we hardly know each other. I will pay for my bill when I go out."
Garcia smiled and said, "So we don't know much about each other? Do you think you and Edward are close enough?"
Jane didn't deny it, and Garcia continued, "In fact, I can 'know' you more if you would like to."
He said in a teasing voice, and Jane answered calmly, "I don't know Mr. Smith much either. I'm just a tutor hired by the Smith family."
Hearing her words, Garcia was surprised to say, "Are you a tutor?"
After a pause, he asked again, "Do you teach art or dancing?"
Jane said, "Math and Physics."
A man who was drinking almost spit out the wine, and Garcia couldn't suppress his laughter. He said while laughing, "Does Edward want to take the college entrance examination again?"
Jane said, "I'm the tutor of Justin Smith but not Mr. Smith."
Garcia looked at Jane with a half-smile, as if judging whether what she said was true or not. After a few seconds, he said, "Come to be my tutor, and I won't pay you less than Edward does."
Jane said without any emotion, "Sorry, I have signed the formal contract with Mr. Smith."
Garcia said, "You can teach both of us."
Jane said, "My schedule is full now, so if you still need a tutor, you can contact the other tutors."
The more he tried, the more serious and sober she would be. Garcia had no doubt that if she was given a bowl, she could be a Buddhist nun to beg alms with her look of rejection.
The negotiation broke down, and they were locked in stalemate. A man laughed and teased, "She doesn't appreciate your kindness."
Garcia slightly twitched his mouth and said with a frustrated look, looking at Jane, "Why are you so brutal? Whether I or Edward hire you, you will get paid. Do you mind where the money comes from?"
Jane said, "I really want to appreciate your kindness, but I just have limited capabilities."
Jane's reactions and responses were so serious and polite that Garcia couldn't take any chances to persuade her. Garcia sighed, showing his despondence, and said, "Well, since you don't want to be a tutor of my family, then I won't force you. You said you taught Math and Physics, didn't you? Show us what you got. If I know you're not lying to me, then I'll let you go."
Jane said, "Please ask someone to buy some test papers for me."
After hearing her words, some people here laughed. Garcia also smiled, raising his eyebrows, and said, "Are you flirting with me?"
Jane cursed at him in her mind. It was Garcia that flirted with her first. What did he mean to show them? How could she, a teacher show them? The only way that she could show something to them was to work out those difficult puzzles. Otherwise, should she teach a lesson to these foppish men?
Garcia was aware that she deliberately said those polite words, but her behavior was not polite at all.
Some people instigated Garcia, "Ken, you are the most educated guy here. The beautiful teacher has asked to work out questions, so Ken, you can make up some questions for her now."
Garcia leaned back in his chair and stared at Jane's face without blinking his eyes. Jane met his eyes, and for a moment, she felt that the man was so foxy and catty that he almost made her flesh creep.
After pausing for a few seconds, Garcia said, "Don't embarrass Miss Cooper anymore. How about this? I give you three questions. And if you, Miss Cooper, answer them all correctly, I'll let you go. Also, I'll pay the bills today to make a friend with you.
Garcia took the initiative to make friends with oher, which meant that he didn't give her any opportunity to express her opinions. Shey must make friends with him by his force.
Jane said, "Just ask the questions."

Garcia asked seriously, "What is 1,234,567 times 7,654,321?"
People in the room laughed. Someone said, "Ken, why do you give her such a difficult question?"
Garcia didn't smile and said seriously, "Miss Cooper teaches Math, so is this question too difficult for her?"
Someone said immediately, "No, it shouldn't be difficult. It's an arithmetic question within ten."
Jane looked at them laughing so happily, thinking that either it was easy for them to laugh, or their life was too boring to have fun.
She said flatly, "I don't know."
Garcia became slier and thought that she was not only good-looking but also particularly funny. He didn't know what she would say, so he teased her, "It seems that the first question is too difficult for Miss Cooper, so the second one will be a little easier."
After that, he paused intentionally and asked, "How many points did I get in Math and Physics the year I had the college entrance examination?"
Without exception, everyone was laughing after hearing the question. Jane's right eye twitched slightly because of the nerve reflex. If possible, she wanted to punish Garcia physically. What he asked wasn't Math at all but metaphysics. He thought that she was the person who told fortunes under the flyover.
Everyone was laughing, but only Garcia was serious, pretending to be confused and asking, "What are you laughing at? I'm asking about Math and Physics, both of which are of Miss Cooper's specialties."
Garcia thought Jane would say she didn't know again, but she said frankly, "138 and 95."
Garcia paused for a moment and asked unexpectedly, "How do you know?"
In an instant, everyone looked at Garcia and thought that Jane was right. Even Jane felt happy in her mind and said calmly, "I guessed."
Garcia stared at her for a few seconds and said with a smile, "You're wrong. I didn't even take the exam that year."
He stared at Jane and finally saw her slightly heaving chest. She was secretly taking deep breaths, telling herself that she must resist not scolding him.
Jane didn't answer the two questions correctly, so Garcia embarrassed her and said, "I don't want to put you on the spot, so the third question is open-book. You are able to answer it correctly."
Jane didn't say anything and didn't want to respond to his words. She wanted to know what the sly Garcia would say.
Garcia was smiling, but he didn't smile from his heart. He said indifferently, "If you say the sentence that Edward Smith is an asshole three times, I promise to let you go, and we stay on our own sides in the future."
Jane didn't say a word, and Garcia said, "He is not here, so why do you still defend him? He is still an asshole even if you don't say that."
Jane said, "Then you ask him to come here. I don't want to call him behind his back."
When it came to Edward Smith, the other people except Garcia kept silent. Garcia couldn't help laughing and said, "If I ask him to come here, do you dare to call him an asshole face to face?"
Jane said, "Yes, I dare to."
Hearing her words, Garcia seemed to smile from his heart for a moment. He picked up the phone from the empty seat beside him and said in a provocative tone, "Did you hear that? Your tutor is challenging you."
A familiar low voice came from the phone, "Jane, where are you?"
Jane's heart thumped. She didn't know when Garcia made the call and didn't know what Smith had heard. Although she didn't see him personally, when hearing his voice, she had a sense of grabbing the rescue. She immediately said, "I'm in..."
Before she finished her words, Garcia decisively pressed the off button and showed it to Jane as if he was flaunting.
Jane looked at him warily. Garcia put down the phone and said with interest, "Edward seems to be extremely worried. Are you sure you are just a tutor of the Smith Family?"
Jane had never seen such a bad person before, and she felt how deep the feud was between Garcia and Smith at that moment.
