Chapter 24 Shield a Shortcoming
Edward said indifferently, "Nice try."
Jane groaned. She knew her place. For someone like Edward, even if she was willing to descend to be his daughter, he still didn't want to be taken advantage of by her.
They stood in the corridor talking. After a while, Justin came out of the room. Jane was more worried than Edward and asked quickly, "How is your injury?"
Justin replied coolly, "I'm fine. Just minor bruising."
The doctor shouted from the door, "Family come in."
Edward stepped inside. The doctor issued a medication list, including the medicine for taking and external use. Justin outside the door was very anxious listening to them talking. Jane comforted him softly, "Don't be afraid. I have a good way to take medicine."
Justin glared at her, "We're even."
Jane pouted, thinking to herself that they were indeed father and son. Edward said exactly the same thing just now.
Just thinking about it, she heard someone call her name, "Miss Cooper."
"Here." Jane walked towards the door subconsciously. In hindsight, she realized that Edward had just called her.
Edward had already got the prescription.
Looking at her, he said lukewarmly, "Come to see the doctor."
She said, "No need. I'm fine."
Edward didn't bother, "It's injury from official operation. I'll pay for it." After speaking, he walked past Jane.
Jane knew what to do. Sitting on the chair, she rolled up her loose slacks to reveal her bumped calves. When she changed clothes at home before, her legs were only swollen. Now on her fair skin, the original redness had turned blue, and some places had turned black, as if the palette had been knocked over on her skin.
The doctor leaned down and poked his finger, "Does it hurt here?"
Jane nodded truthfully, "Yes."
"What about here?"
"Yes."
The doctor asked Jane to move her knee again. She frowned in pain. The doctor said, "Your leg is swollen. Take an X-ray plate first."
Jane looked up, "Is it that serious?"
The doctor said, "My eyes are not X-rays. I can't see your bones. Only through X-rays can I see if it's serious."
Thinking that Edward and Justin were still outside, Jane didn't want to drag them to wait for her. She then said, "Doctor, can I come tomorrow?"
Hearing this, the doctor who was writing the order lifted his eyelids, "What do you think? You obviously have pain everywhere. Besides, why do you have to wait for tomorrow when you are here? He reimbursed you but you still want to drag it on."
"What's wrong?"
Suddenly, a low male voice came from behind. Jane turned her head and saw that Edward was back.
The doctor said, "She need take a X-ray plate to see the problem of her leg. But she wants to come tomorrow. She also asked me if I was okay. Would you like to ask your friend if it's okay?"
The doctor had a big temper. Jane's small question seemed to have angered the doctor. Now, the doctor was not only angry with her, but also complained to Edward.
Looking at Jane, Edward suddenly asked, "Are you hungry?"
Jane blankly said, "What? No."
Edward said, "Then why are you in a hurry."
After calling Justin in to accompany Jane to take an X-ray plate, he went to pay. Jane wanted to be polite with him. But thinking of Edward's character, she thought she should stop talking. She didn't want to be speechless by his rebuttal.
After taking an X-ray plate, the doctor really found the problem. The doctor said, "Slight fracture."
Hearing the fracture, Jane asked, "Is it serious?"
The doctor asked back, "Don't you feel pain when walking?"
Jane choked and asked cautiously, "Do I need to be hospitalized or put in a cast?"
The doctor who bowed his head and prescribed the medicine said, "Our hospital has a shortage of beds. Doctors don't always cast plaster for every illness. Don't wear high heels and walk less these days. Come to the hospital if you feel bad. Don't think anything is unimportant. Don't wait until your condition is serious to see a doctor. "
After her words angered the doctor, the doctor never gave her a good temper again. Even the doctor's tone was cold. After the prescription was finished, she picked it up and took a look, feeling that she couldn't understand it at all.
"Doctor, what are these medicines?"
The doctor said indifferently, "Just go to the pharmacy to get the medicine."
Jane thought to herself that the doctor's temper was really elusive, so she might as well leave.
As soon as she stood up holding the table, the prescription in her hand was taken away. Edward said, "Where is the endocrinology department?"
The doctor raised his head and answered seriously, "On the fifth floor. But it's too late. They're all off work. If you want to see, you can come over early tomorrow."
Looking at the doctor, Edward replied coldly, "You should see it. We don't pay to see the doctor to see you lose your temper with the patient. If you are in a bad mood because of staying up late on duty, you can choose not to come or put up with your temper. Who allowed you to speak to a patient like this? "
Both the doctor and Jane were stunned. Neither of them expected Edward to be suddenly angry.
Because of embarrassment, the doctor had a very ugly look on his face. With the pen in his hand that he couldn't hold, he held on and said, "I didn't speak like this on purpose. I was also worried about the patient's body. Such a careless patient..."
Before he could finish speaking, Edward interrupted with his face pulled, "Then I must say thank you. If we weren't worried, we wouldn't come to the hospital. Do your job well, and improve your professional ethics when you are free. Kindly answer the patient's questions. Do you think she's your daughter when you talk to her like that? "
The middle-aged doctor in his 40s was stunned by what Edward said. He didn't dare to refute, and he couldn't directly bow his head to admit it. At this moment, he had all the thoughts of hiding under the table.
After a brief stupor, Jane hurriedly whispered to Edward, "Let's go."
Edward stood where he was. "What else do you want to ask?"
Because the atmosphere was so awkward, Jane didn't want to ask at all. But when Edward asked, her first reaction was to follow him. So she turned her head to the doctor and said, "What kind of medicine are you prescribing? Is there anything I need to pay special attention to?"
The doctor who had been taught a lesson had learned to be smart. This time, the doctor honestly stated the name and dosage of the medicine.
After listening hard, Jane looked at Edward, "Okay, I'm fine."
Edward turned and walked out, followed by Jane who was afraid to look back. She thought to herself that she could not come to this hospital in the future any more.
Edward, who had just gotten Justin's medicine, was very familiar with the location of the pharmacy. When getting Jane's medicine, he took out his card. Seeing this, Jane hurriedly said, "I'll pay for it myself."
Ignoring her, Edward handed over his card directly. After the pharmacy staff filled the medicine, he took it out and handed it to Jane.
Jane said, "Thank you."
Edward walked towards the exit. Jane looked around and asked, "Where's Justin?"
Edward said, "In the car."
Jane said, "Mr. Smith, thank you for tonight. It's too late. I won't waste your time. I'd like to invite you to dinner with Justin when you're free."
Edward said as he walked, "You wouldn't say that if you really wanted to invite us to dinner. What's more, I'm free now."
Hearing this, Jane quickly peeked at Edward. It's past nine o'clock at night now. She doesn't want to cause scandal. But then she thought of Justin. She shouldn't burn bridges anyway. What's more, she didn't want to make him angry.
