Chapter 4
Yolanda seemed to have fallen into the abyss.
She felt it was dark around her, she couldn't see anything, and her body kept falling.
She panicked and reached out to catch something, but she couldn't catch anything.
Just as she was sinking, a voice called her name, "Yolanda..."
Yolanda was awakened suddenly, and she tried to open her eyes and saw that a face in front of her gradually became clear and blurred again.
"Yolanda, wake up," The voice kept shouting.
Although she couldn't see his face clearly, she knew who he was.
She tried her best to call his name, "Brother, brother... Brother, please don't go, brother..."
But the figure was getting farther and farther away from her.
Yolanda tried to grab him, but in vain. She struggled and suddenly opened her eyes, tears trickling down her face.
"She's awake. She's awake," Someone shouted beside her.
She stared blankly at the cold white room, her thoughts were still stuck in the dream.
She hadn't dreamed of Marc for many years.
He was her biological brother who spoiled her since she was a child.
The parents' divorce was so disgraceful and the court awarded custody of Yolanda to her father, while his brother Marc was taken abroad by his mother, and there had been no news since.
When she was six years old, Yolanda had already been without a family once.
Now at the age of twenty-two, she lost her home again.
This dream was warm and cruel, Yolanda didn't want to think about it. Her thoughts returned to reality. She blinked her eyes and found that her body seemed to be fixed.
She turned her head and found herself lying on the bed, with several people standing neatly beside her.
The memory was then slowly released from the brain, and Yolanda finally remembered the reason why she was here.
Last night, not long after having her fortune told, she was hit by a car.
She thought she shouldn't have really believed the nonsense of the old man, and what about the good fortune he had said?
It should be unfortunate, shouldn't it?
It was a waste of ten dollars.
"How much compensation do you want?" A faint male voice suddenly came to her ears.
It was not until then that Yolanda realized that besides the doctor, there was also a tall man in a high-end suit.
When she saw that face again, Yolanda was stunned.
It was him?
Is he the man with influence who was the victim of badger game, Aaron?
How could it be him? What was he doing here?
Yolanda subconsciously wanted to sit up, but she felt a sharp pain just after she bent her leg.
The doctor stopped her, "Don't move, you have a serious contusion on your calf and a large hematoma. You must have a good rest."
Stunned, Yolanda tried her best to prop up her upper body. Before she could even look at her legs, she saw from the corner of her eyes that her nose was also covered with thick gauze.
The doctor immediately added, "Your nose bone is also broken. It also takes time to recover."
Yolanda was speechless.
Yolanda stared blankly at him for a while and then lay down feebly.
She wondered, "Does she destroy the universe in her previous life? Even drama dares not to make up such a miserable story."
Within twenty-four hours, bankruptcy, cheating, car accident. All happened to her one after the other.
A middle-aged man standing beside Aaron apologized uneasily, "Miss, the main responsibility of last night's traffic accident is that I didn't see the green light, I'm very sorry for causing you to get hurt."
Yolanda didn't make a response.
She knew what happened.
This person should be Aaron's driver. That's why Aaron asked herself how much compensation she wanted just now.
He was really a businessman, sharp and straightforward.
All of a sudden, the old man's words came to her mind. "After tonight, you will go through all the difficulties."
It made sense to some extent if she tried to find an excuse for that.
She suffered a car accident, but she could get compensation, and this money was enough to ease her financial strain for now.
The price was a little high, but she was blessed indeed.
Yolanda sorted out the current situation, looked up and was about to speak to Aaron who suddenly said,
"Or you can ask for something else."
Yolanda just happened to meet his sight.
Then she froze.
"Ask for something else?"
All of a sudden, Yolanda realized that the man in front of her, Phoebe, had said that he was a super mogul who was powerful in the entertainment circle.
What was the keyword?
The entertainment circle!
A super mogul!
It was the company that James, the asshole, sucked up to sign the contract!
An idea coming to her mind took shape.
How could she ask for money? What she wanted was to destroy James, to let him know the consequences of cheating her, and to pay for what he had done to her!
She wanted to change her life!
She was so excited that her hands were trembling.
She remembered that fortune-teller's words, "Only if you have this luck charm, can you own the whole world."
Fortunately, she didn't throw the lucky charm.
Wasn't Aaron the best luck God had given him? As long as she could seize the opportunity and use it properly, how could she not deal with that jerk?
Yolanda seemed to have a hundred adrenaline shots, and her brain was working at a high speed.
If she wanted to succeed, she should have the courage to cut off all means of retreat.
Look at other people, like Sally. She dared to put down drugs. But Yolanda didn't use dirty means. Now she was the victim of the car accident. She must find a way to use this advantage to bind the two people together.
Aaron saw Yolanda kept drifting off like she was lost in thought and frowned, "What's your name? Where do you live? Or I'll have someone contact your family first."
Family?
Suddenly, an idea struck her.
"My family?" She looked at Aaron as if she came to her senses and finally said the first sentence after waking up, "Brother, aren't you here?"
Aaron was stunned.
Yolanda pulled his sleeve cautiously and said in a low voice, "I don't know how much compensation I want from him. Brother, I want to go home. I don't like to stay in hospital. You know that."
Aaron froze.
The people in front of the bed looked at each other. A moment later, the doctor checked on Yolanda again. The CT scan of her body had taken last night. Except for the soft tissue of her calf and the injury of her nose, no other parts of her body were injured.
Finally, the doctors in the office came to a conclusion after a consultation,
"The girl's nose bone was injured, which means that her brain was also seriously injured when she fell on the ground. Although there is no problem with the X-ray, there is a kind of stress syndrome that can't be ignored. Just like now, her cognition and memory are confused, such as forgetting who she is, and thinking that Mr. Jensen, you are her family, like her brother."
Aaron frowned, "How to cure it?"
"For the time being, there is no very good treatment, mainly recuperation. We should wait for her body to recover."
Aaron was speechless again.
Aaron didn't have the patience to help a woman he didn't know find memories, let alone carry the identity of a brother.
When he came out of the doctor's office, he was about to call his driver Happer to say that he would leave first. But he didn't expect that Happer was already pushing Yolanda, who was sitting in a wheelchair, and waiting at the entrance of the office.
The two of them were like ghosts.
Aaron cursed inside his heart.
He was frightened.
"Brother, where are you going?" Yolanda asked softly.
Aaron stiffened in place.
Aaron cast a cold glance at Alfred, who looked as if he was begging for mercy and he had no choice.
Aaron still had a meeting at ten o'clock. Before he went out in the morning, he suddenly wanted to visit her and took a detour to the hospital to see the situation of the woman who had been hit. He didn't expect that he would be pestered by her.
Considering that she was a woman and injured, Aaron squeezed his last bit of patience and said, "I should go out now."
Yolanda nodded, "Brother, go ahead. Don't worry about me."
Surprisingly, she did not pester.
Aaron paused, turned around and left without saying anything.
A faint voice came from behind suddenly, "Brother, will you desert me after you leave?"
Aaron stopped for two seconds, but he still didn't turn around.
After Aaron left, Happer tried to console her, "Where's your phone, Miss? Where's your ID card? Let me help you contact other family members, okay?"
As soon as he reminded her, Wen realized that her cell phone was gone.
Yesterday, when she crossed the road, her mobile phone was held in their hands. It must have been thrown away after being hit. They didn't notice it at night.
As for the ID card, it was still in her bag in the hotel room.
Yolanda now had to take the advantage of pretending to be Aaron's sister to win sympathy, so it was necessary to pretend to have amnesia. If he knew her name and address, she couldn't stay anymore.
It seemed that she was not sure whether she could stay or not, though.
She got goose bumps when she said those words just now, but Aaron was an emotionless businessman. He just left without any sympathy for her.
"I don't remember anything," said Yolanda, shaking her head helplessly. "I'm sorry to trouble you."
Happer had already felt very sorry for hitting Yolanda. But when she saw that the girl had lost her memory and she didn't even know her name.
It was too awful.
Happer couldn't bear to see such a scene since he had a daughter of the same age.
"How about you coming back with me? I have a daughter who can be your companion, and you can leave when you recover, okay?"
Although the driver had hit her, she could tell that the driver was a good person.
But her target was Aaron.
The driver couldn't help her.
Yolanda could only say sorry in her heart. She pretended to be pitiful and said, "I only remember my brother now, and I only believe him."
Happer didn't know what he should say.
Happer had no choice but to try his best to stay beside her. During the infusion, Yolanda borrowed Happer's phone with an excuse of being bored. When he went to the bathroom, she called the hotel receptionist and told her that she had something urgent to do and left the Capital. Her luggage in the room had to be temporarily stored in the hotel and she would come to get it as soon as possible.
After calling, she deleted the call record.
Happer bought a lot of food for Yolanda and took care of her like a daughter. At six o'clock in the evening, he received a call.
"Mr. Jensen." Although Aaron was not there, Happer could not help but bow slightly, full of respect.
Not knowing what Aaron had said, Happer glanced at Yolanda and said, "Mr. Jensen, but..."
The person on the other end of the line might not give him a chance to continue.
After hanging up the phone, Happer looked at Yolanda and said awkwardly, "Miss, I'll go through the discharge formalities for you."
Yolanda guessed something, but still pretended to be ignorant and said, "Is my brother coming to pick me up?"
Happer was silent and bowed his head and said nothing.
In fact, Yolanda didn't have a good chance of winning. She bet on the 1% kindness and 99% indifference of a businessman like Aaron.
Judging from Happer's expression just now, she should have lost.
If her guess was right, Aaron had already arranged a place for her.
As expected, half an hour later, Happer's car stopped at the gate of a sanatorium.
The decoration was warm and the environment was good. It was obviously a good place for people to recuperate.
"Miss." Happer carefully carried Yolanda out of the car and put her in the wheelchair. He then explained, "You can live here comfortably. There will be someone to take care of you here."
It made sense and didn't go beyond her expectation.
Aaron was a businessman, not a philanthropist, nor a fool. He couldn't be sympathetic and accept her just because of her little trick.
Disappointed as she was, she didn't give up. Instead, she continued to put on a miserable face and said, "Thank you, Mr. Happer. Please tell my brother that I will wait for him here all the time."
Yolanda knew that he couldn't come here.
Or nobody would come here.
In the end, Happer had no choice but to hand over Yolanda to the nurse and drive away.
On his way back, Happer received a call from Aaron again.
"Is everything ready?"
Happer still felt bad. He said in a bitter voice, "Yes."
Noticing the disappointment in his tone, Aaron asked, "Are you unsatisfied with the arrangement?"
Alfred didn't want to say it, but he couldn't help it and uttered,
"Mr. Jensen, that girl is really pitiful. She doesn't remember her name and doesn't know where her family is. She only knows that you are her brother and is very stubborn. When I left, she refused to go in and said that she had to wait for you to pick her up. It's too hard to leave when I saw her in such a situation. It's all my fault. I didn't watch out for road and I made a big mistake..."
Aaron didn't react.
Happer had been a driver of the Jiang family for decades. Although he was hired by the Jiang family, he still had a closeness foundation that he had watched Aaron grow up. Otherwise, Aaron wouldn't have helped him clean up the mess after Happer hit the person.
Now Happer felt guilty and remorseful, and Aaron seemed to be labelled as heartless and cold-blooded.
After all, it was his car that hit Yolanda. If Happer had to take the main responsibility, he, the boss sitting on the seat, also had the secondary responsibility.
After hanging up the phone, Aaron felt inexplicably annoyed, especially the girl's impression waking up with a tear-stained face, has been replayed in the mind.
At that time, she kept calling her brother.
Maybe her brother was really the person she trusted the most.
Inexplicably, at the intersection where he should have turned right, Aaron did not stop and drove straight ahead.
That was the road to the sanatorium.
Fifteen minutes later, Aaron's private car stopped at the gate of a sanatorium in the suburb.
Aaron didn't understand the meaning of his change of direction until he pulled over the car.
What was he doing? Was he really going to be a good man to take in a woman he didn't know?
Aaron rolled down the half window and looked out. The sanatorium was quiet, but at nine o'clock in the evening, there was almost no flow of people at the gate.
He remembered what Happer had said before,
" That girl refused to go in and insisted on waiting for you to pick her up."
But there was no one at the gate.
She finally compromised and entered.
In other words, Happer was worried too much. Human beings were all advanced animals that were suitable for local conditions. How could she wait at the gate so late at night?
Aaron breathed a sigh of relief inexplicably. He withdrew his sight and took a cigarette from his pocket. As soon as he lit it, he heard someone knocking on his window.
He turned around and the cigarette in his mouth almost dropped.
Yolanda sat in the wheelchair and waved her hand smilingly.
"Brother, you are here?"
