Chloe approached the dome-shaped structure with torn roofs that stood in front of her. Maya had asked to meet her here. 

"Why had she been acting strange? Especially after I read that book." She thought aloud.

She accessed the old and abandoned temple located on the outskirt of Vampire City. As she went closer to the big door at the entrance, she could smell the dust that covered the building. She entered the dark hall and proceeded toward what looked like an altar. The room where she had picked the book up before. This she did with serious caution.

Chloe looked around the big, well, almost empty room and began to pace about the altar. She could see the sky from where she was beside the altar as the roof above was either torn away or missing somehow. Strange but thanks to that anyway, it provided lighting from the moon to the dark hall. The walls had a lot of cracks with broken windows and it looked like the building could collapse at any moment. Beside the altar was an opened coffin, she wondered what the last thing that happened here was. 

Just then, she saw the shadow of someone through one of the broken window panes close to the entrance approaching the building. She reached for her sword as she waited to see what or who was coming toward her. She was surprised to see a tall, dark-haired man with a one-sided simple that was visible as he emerged from the shadows. She knows this man from a description she read in the books.

"Roderigo?"

"I shouldn't be surprised to see you here. I have known a lot about you, right before you existed. Chloe?"

"It seemed like Maya was the only one I could ask questions but I guess that won’t be necessary anymore. Given you're here now."

"I know why you’re here Chloe and you need to tell Maya to stop," Roderigo said with a stern look on his face.

"Stop what?"

"Look Chloe, I know Maya has been going on about her crazy missions and I’m sure she has something to say about her plans to kill Zeidan." He said as he trudged towards the altar where Chloe stood.

Chloe pretended to be confused.

"We have to stop her."

"We? Hold up, did Maya tell you all that?"

"Common Chloe, don’t act all innocent now, you knew all along Maya was going to take revenge on Zeidan. You know about her plans to kill him, don’t you?"

"He deserves to die," Chloe replied.

He moved closer to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. He said with so much persuasion in his voice.

"Listen to me Chloe; you need to tell Maya to stop because he is more powerful than you both think. Especially with his fated mate, he can’t be killed and he is dangerous."

"He deserves to die after all that he did," Chloe said with anger in her tone.

"You forget that Zeidan hasn't in any way offended you. Punish the mouth that bit you. Zeidan is innocent. Maya is on a suicide mission, don’t you understand me?"

"You don’t know what you’re talking about Roderigo, need I remind you Maya is a Ninja?"

"And need I remind you that I have been in existence for eons now? I know Maya more than you think you do."

  "Well, turns out the Maya you knew before isn't the Maya I know now."

The conversation was getting heated now and Roderigo said,

"If you’re not going to tell Maya to drop her vengeful agenda then I guess someone else has to."

"You won’t say a word to her, Roderigo."

"Of course, I will. It is enough pain that she lost me, losing herself and you will be worse. And that will happen if you don't stop crossing him." He replied

"Then you leave me no choice," Chloe said as she drew out her sword from its scabbard.

Drawing out his sword as well, Rodrigo said, "I don’t want to fight you, Chloe."

She scoffed, the breeze lightly picking up her short hair. She couldn't possibly stop her plans now of seeking revenge and protecting her mother-in-law who had turned out to be a mother as well to her.

Just then, Chloe charged toward him and aimed for his throat, he leaned back immediately as he blocked it with great skill. 

"Stop Chloe, Please listen to me."

"Unfortunately, I don't listen when liars talk! You left Maya to be on her own for years. You're the reason why she's broken!"

"What?"

She attacked him again with another smart swerve towards his legs and he jumped. Now the whole place smelled of dust as the fight that has just ensued made so much dust rise in the air.

Chloe was a better fighter than he is but somehow he had to make sure he fights her off till Maya arrives.

"Believe me when I say I tried to help but I couldn't just open up her box. She was meant to be there till eternity."

She aimed for his belly and he prevented her sword from drawing his blood with his sword, then almost immediately he extended his left hand and landed a blow on Chloe’s right cheek. The two drew back from each other a little and charged toward each other like two tigers fighting for territory.

Although Rodrigo showed strength it was no match for Chloe’s great skill with the sword. He raised his hands to make another swing of his sword towards her and she blocked it with her left elbow, holding his arms and sword under her armpit. Then she used the hilt of her sword to hit him on the face three times before disarming him. 

Chloe then kicked him hard on his chin and he knelt in pain grabbing his chin.

Then he felt a blow on his face and he fell into the coffin beside the altar. As he was about to stand Chloe bit him on his neck, sucked enough blood to make him very weak and he fell back into the coffin. 

Almost immediately, Chloe heard Maya calling her from outside the temple. With so much celerity, she tucked Rodrigo who was now passed out into the coffin and she covered it.

“Rest in peace motherfucker.” She said.

Unknown to Chloe, she had just wiped out Roderigo from existence. The coffin beside the altar was called ‘The Mother-Earth Coffin’. It possessed the power to wipe whoever is placed in it from existence.

"Chloe!" Maya called from outside the temple. 

"I’m in here Maya." She called back from within the temple. 

Maya went into the old building and saw her waiting for her in the darkness lit with the moon’s reflection. 

"You asked me to meet you here Maya. Is everything alright?" Chloe asked with worry written on her face.

Maya sensing the worry on the other woman's face assured her that things were under control.

"It won’t be long now Chloe, I’ll have my revenge on Zeidan." She said clenching her fists.

"That son of a bitch needs to die."

"You're right. But first, I need to find my Krysts and kill that woman who played with my intelligence." Maya said.

"Why? You gave the Kryst to someone else."

"Well, I gave her the other pair, Chloe. Her name is Gillian and she helped Zeidan getaway. It was at night when Zeidan was driving back to LA, I traced him and fought him for a while. He wounded me so I retreated only for a few hours before I went to a pharmacy store by following his scent but I couldn’t find him. I threatened the owner, Samantha, to tell me which way he went and she refused, then I killed her."

"I don't understand. How did Gillian come into all of this?" Chloe inquired.

"I wanted to capture Zeidan and bring him here where both of us can erase him from existence."

"Tell me about it, Maya. What really happened?"

"Ok, listen carefully," Maya said as she began to narrate what had transpired between her, Zeidan, and Samantha.
