Chapter 77

Lyne picked up a file she had gotten from the clerk downstairs. It had on it several names of clients that had come to buy artifacts from the company and she shook her head at how much people waste just to get a hold of something that doesn't belong to them. Zeidan had left her since morning and she couldn't blame him for going without her. She had been sulking alone, thinking of what she had heard about her mother.

But could she just sit there and think all day of her mother who had died choosing the pack over her? When none of her family members refused to talk about her mother, she thought that maybe her mother was a bad person to them, and talking about her would only bring up traumatic memories, which explains why her siblings never liked her. Turns out her mother had been bad to only her. Her mother had rejected her even right after she was born.

Picking up another sheet of paper, a file fell to the floor. It was a printed CCTV footage of a black cloak moving past the hallway back to the exit. Lyne paused and thought of where else she had seen something like that. She searched for more of the footage that had similar shots. One had the cloak having who was under it with the head bent over something. The Krysts? Looked like she was giving somebody. But who could it be? She looked for more before she found Gillian's shots where she held stacks of paper and looked like she was talking to someone. However, none of her shots matched the one where the cloak was offering the Kryst. There was more to this footage and the only other person who had collected the Kryst was Tina. The young girl.

She called the CCTV monitoring room and a man picked up.

"Hello, Security quarter, how may I help you?"

"Hey, it's me, Lyne. I have one last favor from you."

"What's that?"

"Can you get me the personal details of one of the people who have been to this company or have bought something? It's an emergency."

"That will be very difficult. May I know why you need them?"

"Never mind. I'll just do it the other way."

"The other...what the..." But she hung up and made to go through the elevator.

It chimed and opened but as she guessed it must be Zeidan, what she saw made her heart jump. It was Tina, hair rumpled, face pale and eyes puffed from crying.

"Hey, Tina." She fell limpidly and she made to carry her into the suite. She was wearing a green t-shirt and jeans, with green and white sneakers. She dropped the weak girl on the bed and placed a hand on her forehead.

"Are you okay? What happened to you?"

"No, I'm not okay." She burst out crying, her face explaining it all. "She came."

"She?"

"Yes. And she hurt me but I decided to run here and tell you everything I know. Am I going to die?" Tears rolled down her eyes and Lyne felt sorry for the girl instantly. She rubbed her head softly and felt it turning colder. She was worried about who it was, what Tina was going to say, and whether she would survive it. Although beads of sweat laced her body, her skin was void of warmth. Her lips turned white too.

"What do you mean? What happened to you?"

"I...the woman with the covered cloak. I saw her face. It was...it was scary." Her face was crumpled as she kept crying.

"Where are your parents?" She asked.

"I don't have parents. They died in a plane crash and I have been made to live with my neighbors who I don't like. So, I stayed late here that night until I saw someone...she was trying to get in but she didn't know that...that I was there." Tina used her cold small hands to hold hers tightly as she kept narrating what had happened that night.

"She had scary purple eyes."

"Scary? Purple eyes are pretty..." But it all came to her now. Cloaks, purple eyes, Krysts, Vampire. "I have seen something similar. What else did you see?"

"Half of her face, like from her nose downwards were rotten and they smelt like dead meat. It was a gory sight. She saw me and warned me not to tell anyone. She wanted to harm me but I said people are watching through the CCTV camera but I'll help conceal her identity if she could give me her jewelry that I saw on her neck."

"The Kryst. I know the only person that must have done this but you're safe now, baby. We already killed her." But Tina shook her head.

"No...she came to our house and killed Katherina, Leo, and their daughter, Annabelle. She couldn't get me because I struggled with her. However," she turned slightly and revealed her white neck that had a deep bite. The wound was rotting already and the sides had turned purple.

"What? She bit you?" Much as the bite got her worried, how the ninja was still alive bothered her more. That means she was the one who had killed the others. Like Samantha and the manager, now three innocent people. Hell, she had even come after a teenager who could have died if she wasn't smart.

"I know what to do. I'll just call someone and be back. Stay strong, okay?" She rose and moved to get the phone. She wasn't a Vampire, so knowing how to manage a Vampire bite was out of her league. It rang once before Zeidan picked it up.

"Hey, sweetheart, finally decided to come out of your shell?" He teased and despite the problem at hand, she couldn't help but smile.

"I'm sorry, Zeidan. I just had a lot to..."

"I understand." His soothing voice cut her off over the phone and she immediately wished he was near. "So, did you call me to ask me to come home or what?"

"I have a question." She glanced back at Tina who was laying on her back, eyes half closed and lips turning purple.

"Spill it."

"How do you treat a Vampire bite?" There was a long awkward silence and she could feel him worrying before he let out the question.

"Who got bitten?"

"It ain't me." She heard him let out a sigh of relief. "It's Tina."

"Tina?!" One could imagine Zeidan rising from his seat if he was sitting.

"Yes, and I got a hold of who could be behind all the killings."

"The ninja is alive!" They both chorused and she wondered how he knew.

"How did you know that?"

"You remember Roderigo? The one who Marianne told us wants to stop his wife from doing stuff? Yeah, Maya is the ninja. And she is still alive."

Her heart dropped. As she looked back to check Tina, her heart dropped further. The pale girl had looked more limpid and she looked like she had given up on life already. Her eyes were shut and Lyne couldn't control the tears that ran down her cheeks.

Tina has died. She walked up to her body and cried hard. But it only made her resolute to kill Maya, the Spanish ninja.
