Chapter 85

Lyne's heart shattered inside of her as she looked up at Zeidan, resolute not to give in to whatever he said. Her child is in grave danger and now, she has to protect her baby by herself and all alone. Anything to be with her baby.

"You don't understand, Lyne." He tried to come closer but right now, she felt hurt than having to come in contact with him.

As she gritted her teeth, only one thing came to mind. Maybe she hadn't really known him but only fell for his words. However, her heart was saying something different. That she could perhaps see his reasons too and know why he thought that way.

"I thought I could endure whatever you throw at me. But I guess I was wrong. Not when you kept running after Luana, even when I was there. Or watch her hurt me. Or think I am delusional because I saw my child..."

"It's your hormones!"

"It's my freakin' gift!" She yelled back. Was he thinking her ability to see visions was wack too?

"I'm not disputing that but you have to understand that at this point, no one is taking your place. Luana told me she caught a Werecat. Do you know how many of them we have in the city? And you think I want my child, running around the city knowing fully well that he can be captured by these monsters?"

"I can protect my baby!"

Seeing how he was hell-bent on her not keeping the baby, she resolved in her mind that she was indeed alone.

"This discussion is over."

She walked past him and outside the door, ignoring his call for her to come back. If he thought she was weak, then he is wrong. She would do this herself. Break through the walls of weakness and uncertainty, together with her baby. She wouldn't push this further again.

The sun was setting already but she didn't care. She wanted to clear her head, anywhere, anyhow. She went to the white stallion and mounted it, her thoughts clouded with questions and visions of the unknown.

Who was after her daughter? As the horse propelled forward through the tall trees, with the full branches blocking the sun, giving off a cool atmosphere underneath. The soft breeze blew her hair as she raced the horse towards a familiar route which she knew in her head but didn't see as tears had filled her eyes.

Memories of how they had started when they met in the forest. When she turned and looked into the face of the most good-looking man she had ever known and she had been swept off her feet instantly. She had been upset about getting married off to him which she later became happy about. He treated her right and now she thinks he might have been doing that because he still has use of her. How they had come to vampire city and everything went well.

The horse stopped abruptly and for a while, she sat down there, letting the tears roll down her eyes. As her eyes were cleared, she saw the torn-apart building standing tall in front of her but it only brought about painful memories. Pleasant before but painful now that she thought of it. They had come here the first time to play.

The broken concrete on the floor crouched under her boot as she walked inside, not minding how dangerous it could be. Lyne ran her hands over the scraped walls as she moved further inside.

"The temple." She whispered, her eyes running over the place and finally falling on the darkest depth of the inside.

She had gotten deeper into the place before realizing she needed to be careful as the ninja could still be alive. But then, it would be to her advantage as she had been praying to have her in her hands. Dangerous but still she went in, not forgetting to look at the doorway that leads to a different room in the building. A place where the ninja had first come out from.

She stared hard at it until her gaze caught a coffin in the room. She walked towards it, not minding the danger that could be involved.

It was a long wooden box with the edges carved out in gold. It looked more like it was specially built for someone. She moved closer until she placed her hands on it. For a while, she felt the wood and it didn't look any older. It is more like it looked newer with each day that passes. As she ran her hands on the coffin, she found a latch.

"Wow. Looks like one can be locked here. I mean, a corpse can't possibly run away and what would they do if it did?" She mused to herself.

Lifting the latch slowly, she held on to her breath as an upsetting odor swept from inside the box. Little by little, she lifted the lid but was shocked to her bones when after the smell had faded, she could see a figure. More like a rotten person who used to wear a coat laying in the coffin. From the skull with lost eyeballs in the dockets, to the withered hands. But something else caught her eyes asides from the hands.

It was dark and crafty. She picked it up and looked at it.

"The Kry...."

Before she could finish, she had to dodge a swinging sword which she heard charging at her neck which hit the lid of the coffin, closing it again.

She fell to the ground, holding the Kryst tight in her enclosed palms as she turned to the cloaked woman with her purple eyes revealed. Then she remembered Tina's description of what her face looked like.

Tina.

Her heart squeezed with anger, sadness, and fear all mixed in her mind.

"You bastard!" She gritted and felt her fangs sprouting. Cool. Still in her human form but with a wolf feature.

"Welcome!" Maya greeted, resolution coloring her tone.

Before she noticed, in a bid to stand, Lyne, kept the Kryst in her boot. She heard the clanging of swords and knew she was coming after her. She swung away and the sword hit the floor but before the ninja could retrieve her sword, she gave her a forceful kick on her side that sent her flying across the room, out to the temple.

She ran after Maya, taking one of her swords that fell. As Maya rose with her sword, she swirled hers and moved forward, feet firm to the ground. They both charged at each other and when Maya threw her sword vertically, Lyne blocked it horizontally with hers. The ninja was close to her and she could feel her breath which smelled like dead meat just like Tina had said. Her purple eyes were staring at hers but fortunately, she isn't moved by her deadly glare.

"You are nothing but a stupid Wolf. You killed my son and thought I won't do anything to make sure I destroy you?"

Maya blurted out and immediately, she became numb. Her hands shook and she lost grip of her sword which fell allowing Maya to strike but as she lifted her sword, another person's sword blocked it from underneath, pushing her away.
