Luana watched the two couples sitting on the bed, about to rejoice over the good news. Lyne is pregnant. Bad news to her. How did she let this happen?
She was perspiring real hard and she almost fell numb. She hadn't planned for it to go this way. When she advised Zeidan to go and ask for assistance, he didn't mean marrying the princess and falling in love with her. She only wanted something that would favour her and at the same time favour the city.
The rejected daughter of Alpha Styx, now pregnant for the King of Vampire city. Karma? Doesn't seem like it. And this isn't the end. It can never be the end.
"You all can leave. I want to have a moment alone with her." She heard Zeidan's order and slowly, every one of them dispersed.
Luana pretended to leave but lingered by the doorway, paying rapt attention to whatever they were going to say.
"What was that all about?" She heard him ask Lyne as soon as he turned to face her.
"What was all what about?" Lyne returned sharply, with the same tone.
"Fighting Luana! What has she done now? First, you have been so defensive ever since we got here. Or shall I say, you've been so sensitive since Tina's death"
Lyne scowled. "Don't you dare mention Tina's name!"
Who was Tina? And why is she dead? Luana wondered what happened while they were in Los Angeles.
"Oh, why? You're acting like I'm not pained by her death too. I was fond of her." Zeidan defended.
"I wasn't just fond of her, Zeidan. She died in my arms. I watched her die. She pleaded for life and I just stood there! Zeidan, I stood there and watched her die! You know how that feels?"
Lyne was raising her voice now.
"Of course, I do. My dad died..."
"I couldn't save Tina and I couldn't save my daughter too."
Strange. Luana thought. How did she even know she was going to have a girl? And what did she mean by not saving her daughter? There are still many things she needed to know, especially about what happened while she was in Los Angeles.
"Lyne," Zeidan called softly and moved to touch her face but she sat up abruptly, avoiding his touch. "Look, I know how hard it is for you to comprehend all of this but you've just got to grasp it. It's better we work together to fight. We can do this."
"I understand. But first, Luana must be arrested."
"For what?"
Luana's heart skipped a beat when she heard her mention Hudson's name. She found out somehow. Of course, she has to. He's one of her people.
"This is just the beginning, Lyne." Luana threatened under her breath as she watched the golden-haired girl sitting on the bed with the love of her life, Zeidan, talking about having kids with her.
It was a sore to her eyes and it hurts her watching them. But as she turned to go, something stopped her.
"We can't have the child now."
She turned, an evil smile playing on her lips.

Lyne felt weak again, her heart in her mouth. Perhaps, she didn't hear him well but he just said it now. That they can't have a child.
"Z...Zeidan?"
"Look at me," Zeidan grabbed her face in his hands but feeling his hands on her skin felt like poison instantly. "You have to understand me, Lyne."
"Understand what?!" She spat at him.

She was watching her dreams crumble before her. Dreams of having kids with Zeidan and seeing him be a good father to them. She had hoped to have plenty of them just like her Father and Zeidan is here, telling her she couldn't have a child.
"Understand that having kids now is a curse?!" She asked again and when Zeidan stretched his hand, she stood up abruptly on the other side of the bed, looking at him with a stare that could kill.
"I didn't say so. I...just look at everything around us, Lyne. Be reasonable for once!"
How could he? She felt heat well up from inside her veins and blood boiling. Rage and anger built forces against her body and it took her willpower not to go closer and punch him.
"Reasonable? You're talking about being reasonable now?" She asked, her voice shaky.
"I know what I'm saying, Lyne! Just take a look at these. Shelbrooke is out there plotting a massive attack on Vampire City. We have a serial killer on the loose with a distasteful name..."
"Oh! Mysteria now sounds distasteful. I get it. Yeah, I do."
"Hey, I'm serious. Do you know how hard it was for me to watch my father die at the hands of our enemies? Do you?"
Now, he's referring to how her people had killed his Father. Before she could control it, tears kept falling off her eyes. She felt pained that things just kept getting complicated. First off, a little child had been murdered and she has to live with the fact that the murderer is still out there, probably living her best life. Then, she just lost an army to her worst contender, Luana. That bastard killed one of her men when she has absolutely no right to do so. Now she is pregnant with a child who will be in danger and whose father isn't ready to accept.
Images of the girl's dark hair and blue eyes, looking so innocent but unfortunate to have been caught in the web of all the misfortune that her parents have refused to fight. Because they are nothing but cowards. However, she is not ready to be a coward. She will keep this baby and no man will be able to lay a hand on her, no matter what.
"I know it's hard to take in but Lyne, I can't have this child. I want to be there for my child and not be on the battleground when I'm supposed to watch him take his first step..."
"It's actually a she." She countered.
"I'm sure it's going to be a boy."
They both stared at each other, the atmosphere between them tense. What was going on? Would their marriage turn sour immediately? Is this the point where they will have to break apart and forget all the beautiful moments that ever happened?
"You promised to be there for me, Zeidan."
"I want to be there for you." He walked around the bed and they were soon inches apart, eyes fixed on each other.
"Then, be there for me now. I want to have this child. If I lose her now, I'll never be able to forgive myself."
"What are you talking about?"
Zeidan asked.
"I had a dream while I was unconscious where I saw a little girl plead for help. She didn't want to die and she begged me to let her live." She grabbed his hands, looking into his eyes and hoping. She was hoping he would reason with her. "Please, I don't want to disappoint her."
"You're being delusional." He crumpled his face in disgust. "Tina is dead. Just forget about her!"
"This isn't Tina! Okay? If you're worried that I'm heavily affected by Tina's death then you're right! I am."
She paused, her breathing ragged.
"But there's one thing I can never agree to. And that is to let go of my baby. With my last breath, I will protect my child and whoever thinks otherwise," she dropped his hands and stood up tall against him, making sure their eyes level are equal. "Will have to answer to me!"
