Chapter 2 Arriving At Husband's House

Chapter 2 Arriving At Husband's House
Su Jiuyue bit her lower lip and seemed to have made up her mind. She ran out of the door holding her little parcel.
When her younger brother and sisters saw her running away, they rushed out to chase her, "Jiuyue! Jiuyue! Where are you going?"
"Jiuyue, you won't come back, right?"
"Jiuyue, I can't bear to leave you!"
...
Su Jiuyue didn't dare to look back, so she ran to the entrance of the village in one breath.
When she caught her breath and looked back with tears, the three little guys had disappeared long ago. Only one old woman wearing a torn jacket was chasing towards the village entrance braving the scorching sun.
"You little girl, looking so thin and small, runs very fast to keep me chasing for a long time."
Su Jiuyue lowered her head, silently, without any eloquent speeches in normal days.
"Well, I know that you just left home and feel unhappy, but your family is doing this for you. You know what your family eats these days. If you don't get married, they will be starve to death sooner or later. "Matchmaker Li could not bear to see her doing like this, so she kindly persuaded her.
"I...I can work..." Su Jiuyue subconsciously explained for herself.
"Work? Where to find work now? The crops all died in the field because of the drought, and even the bark and grass roots - whatever can be eaten - have been eaten. Why are you guy so naive?"
Su Jiuyue looked at the peeled-off elm at the village, and got silent again.
Matchmaker Li sighed, "Let's go, the two mountains are not far away, but not too close, neither. Don't always think about coming back when you get there. It's not easy for every family to make ends meet these days. If your mother-in-law said some words of criticism to you later, you have to endure..."

Matchmaker Li rambled on all the way, and they walked from late in the morning to dusk before they arrived at Xiayang Village where her husband's family was.
Xiayang Village is named because the most people in this village are surnamed Xia or Yang.
But her husband's family name is Wu. His grandfather escaped here all the way from the outside, and later settled here.
The Wu family was located on a soil platform. Su Jiuyue followed Matchmaker Li up the slope before she aw the gate of this household.
There are many children in the Su family, so they have been living a hard life. The yard is simply enclosed by a fence.
But the Wu family is different. Their courtyard is surrounded by red bricks and there are two thick wooden doors, which make it look like a substantial family.
At this point, Matchmaker Li did not lie.
Seeing here they were, Matchmaker Li was pleased and knocked on the door bolt.
"Mrs. Wu! Open the door! I brought your daughter-in-law back for you!"
Su Jiuyue was thirteen this year, and girls could frankly talk about marriage at the age of 14 or 15 in her village, so she would inevitably think about it at such an age. But she never dreamed that one day she would marry in such a twilight, with no relatives to send her off, and no husband to welcome her.
Shortly afterwards, there was a clear response from inside, "Here! Coming!"
After that, the door was pulled open with a bang, and a woman's face appeared behind the door.
Her face is like a full moon, with a mole at the middle of her eyebrows, and she looks like a friendly person who is easy to get along with.
Su Jiuyue took a glance, and when Liu Cuihua looked at her, she was like a frightened deer and lowered her head hastily.
Liu Cuihua learned that the girl is probably her child daughter-in-law, right?
She smiled and said to Matchmaker Li, "Good girl, thanks for your painstaking trudge this time. Let's go into the house for tea. You are tired, right?"
