Chapter 56 Wouldn't It Be Nice to Take Care of Your Kid?
Niuniu didn't care what she would play. As long as someone could play with her, she would be very happy.
So Niuniu answered actively at once, "That's awesome! Let's go and play with Guoguo."
Su Jiuyue went back to her room to get two ropes, and then took Niuniu and Wu Xiyuan to the second sister-in-law's room.
Inside the room, Tian Xiuniang was quite disturbed by Guoguo's cries which nearly wore down her remaining patience.
Just then, Su Jiuyue knocked on her door and asked, "Second sister-in-law, may we come in?"
Tian Xiuniang left Guoguo aside crying on the kang while shouting out, "Come in!"
Pushing the door, Su Jiuyue and others walked in.
"Second sister-in-law, we're here to play with Guoguo."
Tian Xiuniang was originally upset by Guoguo, hearing this, she immediately reprimanded, "Again? All you know is to play! Guoguo is spoiled by you guys! She even doesn't take my words in mind."
Niuniu and Wu Xiyuan were so frightened by Tian Xiuniang's scolding that they grabbed each side of hem of Su Jiuyue's clothes and hid behind her.
Su Jiuyue was actually a little afraid of her as well, but at this time she could only say, "There's nothing interesting outside on a snowy day. We thought Guoguo would feel bored alone so we come here to play Cat's Cradle with her."
Guoguo was still crying out of breath on the kang. Seeing this, Tian Xiuniang roamed over their faces one by one and finally made a compromise, "Fine, fine. As you like. Just do not rant and rave."
After saying that, Tian Xiuniang left directly.
The three guys looked at each other and ran towards to Guoguo by the kang.
After leaving her room, Tian Xiuniang just went to her elder sister-in-law's room next hers.
Chen Zhaodi was sitting on the kang, sewing the soles of her shoes. When she saw Tian Xiuniang coming, she hurriedly came down the bed and grabbed a handful of melon seeds for her.
"We dried some melon seeds before. Xiuniang, help yourself."
Without keeping trivial formality, Tian Xiuniang sat on the side of kang, talking leisurely to Chen Zhaodi.
Not long after, Tian Xiuniang heard the sound of cry in her room quiet down, instead, and a few children's laughter came over occasionally.
Tian Xiuniang felt better and said to Chen Zhaodi, "Why is our younger sister-in-law so adorable? The old and young all like her. Even my daughter Guoguo is more intimate to her than me."
Chen Zhaodi laughed, "Wouldn't it be nice to have someone to take care of your kid? Besides, I see that you also like her, right?"
Tian Xiuniang cracked a melon seed and grunted, "Who ... who likes her? Nope. She's too disturbing!"
Chen Zhaodi knew Tian Xiuniang was reluctant to admit it, so she just echoed, "Fine. But laughter is always better than cry. If Guoguo kept crying, our mom would come here for a look. If it weren't for the fact that Su Jiuyue helped, how could we have such chit-chat? By the way, do you have new embroidery pattern samples? Let's embroider a few handkerchiefs to sell for money some day. Anyway, we aren't busy in winter."
The life of the Chen family was better than that of the Tian family. Tian Xiuniang sighed, "Sister-in-law, look such heavy snow outside. I hope this won't make me seem that funny. Actually, I'm quite worried about the life of my parents' family... Although I've married here, I couldn't shut my eyes to them."
In Chen Zhaodi's family were most of males. Her Grandfather had five sons and eight grandsons. Boys would grow so fast that by the time they were ten they would be strong enough to do manual work for the family. Before that, little boys could still play their role in the family except manual work.
A few days ago, she went back to her parents' home, bringing along some rice. Her several uncles went up the mountain to hunt some pheasants. As a whole, although they were not quite well-off, they did not starve to death.
Faced with Tian Xiuniang's gloomy look, Chen Zhaodi restrained herself from sharing the life of her parent's family so as not to be mistaken as a show-off.
