Chapter 54 As Women, Cherish Ourselves Better

Chapter 54 As Women, Cherish Ourselves Better
Liu Cuihua did not answer her but asked in turn, " What did you dream about? Can you tell me in detail?"
Su Jiuyue lowered her head and looked at her toes, recalling last night's dream.
"I dreamt that the second elder brother got up early in the morning and went to sweep the snow on the roof, and then just like what happened today, the roof of the woodshed collapsed. The second elder brother fell down from it. And ... and he broke his legs..."
Speaking at the end, her voice was getting lower and lower. If Liu Cuihua didn't listen carefully, she could barely hear what Su Jiuyue said.
Su Jiuyue raised her eyes and sneaked a look at Liu Cuihua's expression.
After all, what she said could completely come under suspicion of cursing the second elder brother, and if her mother-in-law wanted to fall out with her, she wouldn't defend herself.
Sure enough, Su Jiuyue saw Liu Cuihua's face surprised, "Is there such a thing?"
Su Jiuyue nodded and tried to say for herself, "Mom, I didn't mean to curse the second elder brother. I just thought it's better to believe that it existed than not. You know, I had this kind of strange dreams a couple of times and they did happen in real life. You're all my family, so I could not just stand by and let the disaster fall upon the second elder brother."
When Su Jiuyue mentioned she had such strange dreams a couple of times, Liu Cuihua's attention was drawn by it and asked, "Have you ever dreamt of other things?"
There was a mysterious tinge to such thing but who knew whether it was immortals who showed their power by giving prophetic dreams.
"I also dreamt of matters related to the well and purchase of rice."

At that moment, Liu Cuihua believed Su Jiuyue's words but she interrupted, "Jiuyue, if you dream of other things again, just tell me. Don't speak carelessly outside or you'll be regarded as a psychic!"
Su Jiuyue herself knew what couldn't do clearly, or others might think she was also stupid.
"Mom, I promise."
Liu Cuihua felt relieved after hearing Su Jiuyue's promise. She took out several handkerchiefs she had embroidered a few days ago and said, "They're embroidered by me. Take whichever you like. The rest can be sold for money when you accompany Xiyuan to a doctor tomorrow in town."
"This time, I won't come along with you. The colder weather affects my leg flexibility so Dacheng will go with you."
Actually, by rights, Su Jiuyue shouldn't suffer chilly weather outside either but when Liu Cuihua thought that Dacheng could not handle Xiyuan, she felt sorry to let Su Jiuyue come along together.
After hearing Liu Cuihua's words, Su Jiuyue fixed Liu's leg with a considerate look, "Mom, does your leg hurt?"
Liu Cuihua sighed, "When I gave birth to my third child Xiyuan, I caught a cold during my sitting month. Since then my legs hurt every rainy day over the years, especially in winter."
"As women, we should cherish ourselves better. But you look at men, they won't suffer such pain. You're still so young but you should be aware of this. You could not think you're young still and always get yourself exposed to cold or icy thing."
No one including her natural mother had ever said these heartfelt words to Su Jiuyue.
Even before in the winter, Su Jiuyue used to chiseled an ice hole by the river to wash clothes for her younger siblings.
People were often like this. A long-time toughness had cloaked the inner bitterness. But once someone showed a note of concern to you, cracking your strong semblance, your pent-up fragility would pour out.
Su Jiuyue sucked her nose, restraining her bitterness and smiled, "Mom, thanks for your concern. I'll bear in mind."
