Chapter 35

MARA'S POV
I had been so busy in recent months because my promotion as a Vice President in our company happened in the same week when we announced the official merger of Almonte Corporation with the Ottave's.
They want me to be in that position than be the head of sales and marketing because my parents want me to take over the company as soon as possible.
But despite our busy schedule, we see to it that our relationship as husband and wife and baby Tanya's parent is not being neglected.
In a few months, our daughter will be celebrating her first birthday. So before her birthday, we had to finish our work because our family was planning to go to Korea for a vacation to celebrate our daughter's birthday
"Don't work too hard, wife," Maru whispered.
I was startled by his presence. I was so engrossed with my work that I did not notice Maru's presence.
I face him and pinch his nose. "You should be thankful that I have no heart disease, or else I would have got a heart attack earlier. You surprised me." I told him.
He chuckled. "You're too busy, so you didn't notice me."
I pouted. "I have something important to take care of. I will be meeting the HID group. I want Almonte Corp to get the distribution for their equipment. The company wants to distribute their equipment for a long time, but until now, they can't get the deal." I explained to him.
His forehead furrowed. "Aren't your company their partner in almost all of their products?"
I heaved a sigh.
"Yes, but not the equipment. They have someone else assigned for that, and the company cannot convince them to give it to us as well."
"We need to get the right to carry their equipment because if we have that, we can give a better package to our clients. Also, the price of the existing distributor of the equipment is so high."
"What's keeping them from giving it to you?"
"Loyalty?" I rolled my eyes.
"There's no such thing as loyalty in the business world."
"I know, right." I agreed.
When money is involved, no one will remain loyal. That is one of the things I notice in the business world.
"What are you planning to do now?"
I smirked. "It'll scare them."
"How will you do that?" He asked me.
I grin. "By cutting out my partnership with them, and then I'll get their competitor and make them dominate in this industry."
He nodded and smiled mischievously. "That's my wife!"
I just rolled my eyes.
"It's already 12:30 wife, let's have our lunch first, then discuss that later."
I nodded, and I started to fix my things.
While eating, I remembered that Yelle and I would meet later.
"Hon, I won't be able to go with you later. Yelle and Alex invited me to have dinner with them. It's been a long time since we bonded." I informed him.

He nodded. "Okay, go ahead. But you need to behave, wife, okay? Don't be too attached to that, Alex. He still likes you."
I just shook my head. "Give Alex some consideration; he is not doing anything."
"Yes, he is but not with Jana."
My eyebrow raised with his statement. "What did Alex do to your Jana?"
"My Jana?" He furrowed.
"Is she not?"
Since Maru told me about him and Jana's real relationship and Jana's love for Alex, I can't help but be bothered. I'm a woman. I know when a woman likes someone. And my instinct can't be wrong. She likes Maru and not Alex. I don't know why she told Maru that the guy she likes is Alex.
"Are you jealous of Jana? Hon, I already told you, I see her as a sister." He said, a bit frustrated.
"What about her? Does she also see you as a brother?"
"Hon..."
"Jana doesn't like me. She likes your friend, Alex. She also sees me as her brother."
I just shrugged. I don't want to argue with him.
The good thing is, our lunch went well despite our argument about our friends.
We are planning to have the same office building to be easier for us to visit each other. But it seems like we can't push through with the plan for now because we have so many things we need to do.
At precisely 6 pm, Alex and Yelle arrived.
"Ma'am, office time is over!" They said teasingly.
I just rolled my eyes. I fix my things, and I'm good to go.
Just like before, we went to our favorite café. We are catching up when I remembered what Maru and I had talked about earlier.
"Alex, did you know Jana?" I asked him.
He furrowed. "What's with her?"
"Maru told me that she likes you. Are you aware of that?"
He raised his brow. "Really?"
"You didn't know?"
He still looked confused. "Why are you asking me that?"
"I'm just curious. Besides, my husband and I are always arguing because, of course, he is on Jana's side while I am on your side." I told him.
He just laughed. "Why are you two making it a big deal?"
Exactly! I also ask myself.
"Nothing." I just said.
"Do you want me to pursue her?" He asked me earnestly.
I gasped. "Why will you do that? Do you like her?"
I don't know if it's because of "girl's instinct," but I don't like her for Alex.
"So that you guys don't need to argue about us. You know that what I only want is for you to be happy." He said sweetly.
I suddenly felt nervous. "Alex, don't tell me you are planning something?!" I hissed.
He then smiled. "Just trust me, okay?"
"You don't have to force yourself to like her if that's not how you feel! I want you to be happy. And I don't think you'll be happy by doing that!"
"I know what I am doing, Mara." I stared at him, trying to read his mind.
"Alex... no... you don't need to do that." I pleaded.
"Just trust me, okay?" I stared at him again.
I saw that he is serious about this.
"I trust you."
