Chapter 15 Protect Her

She didn't pay attention to this man when they arrived at Nathan's cabin because she was still wondering why he took her somewhere to avoid his Mother. She believes Nathan is more fortunate than she is because he has the opportunity to see his mother while she is still present, whereas her mother has passed away. "Can you tell me why you're avoiding your mother?" Nathan came to a halt and turned his head to her after she asked him a question and crossed her arms, waiting for an answer. Nathan sighed, knowing that Erin would ask him many more questions, and he didn't know how to respond to the girl, even though he was already struggling with his predicament. He likes Erin, but he has a lot on his mind right now with his family, and he wants to make things right before he expresses how he feels about her.
Erin stroked her hands on her thighs, feeling cold, and moved her head to the open window to watch the snowfall. "This terrace is cool" she whispered to herself and thinking to go inside the cabin but she needs to wait for Nathan to let her in.
"Damn...I'm freezing and now what?" she said while brushing her palms together to create some warmth to her body.
"Here, take this." Nathan came up to her with a thick blanket in her favorite color, gray, and she beamed. she took it from Nathan and wrapped it around herself, feeling comforted and suddenly remembering the time she was small and every winter she slept close to her parents, the same feeling as before but time can't bring it back, memories remain in her heart forever. Then, as she sat on a wide sofa with her legs propped up on a desk, she looked around for Nathan and smiled as she watched him open a drawer full of food. She doesn't know how to convey her sentiments, but she's glad that someone cares about her.
When Nathan turned to face her, she immediately bent down and fixed her gaze on the window. Thinking she was not looking at him. She couldn't stand being chatty any longer, so she inquired about his mother once more.
"How about your mother's story?" she said, tickled her hair into her earlobe.
Nathan put down what he was doing and walked over to her, holding two cans of food in his hands. He glanced at her as if he'd thought about it before telling to her.
"I'll tell you more later... I need to prepare meals for both of us since we will become enraged if I am hungry and you are hungry." He said and continued to walk. Her nose pinched because she was impatient, and when she heard an odd noise, she came to a halt and turned her head back to see if someone was there, but when she returned her eyes to Nathan, he was already inside the cabin making their food.
"Is there anyone here?" She then moved toward the grass, which was dotted with large trees. She was surprised to hear Nathan's voice behind her before she could go missing, and then he grabbed her again to return her inside the cabin and close it faster. "What are you doing? Here on this island, there are a lot of animals. I mean wild animals that could kill you. So you better watch out." He explained to her but Erin didn't listen and just rolled her eyes and Nathan yielded to the kitchen where his cooking smelled so delicious. Erin came to a pause when she saw the entire cabin; it was made of wood, but it was lovely, and she discovered a definition for it while saying "Rustic Elegance."
"Hey, I like your cabin." She said.
"Thank you."
"As a result of this, I was born here. My father didn't think I was his child, so he kicked My mother out of the house. My mother had nowhere else to go, so she came here and gave birth to me here." Then he pointed to the floor, where Erin's feet were.
Since she wanted to learn more about Nathan and his struggles, Erin listened intently to what he had to say without interrupting.
"Grandpa discovered what my father had done to my Mother. Grandpa was furious, so he took my mother, and he was overjoyed to see his first grandchild. My father even gave me a DNA test to see if I was his child, so they found out the truth that way. I am, in fact, his son. He rejected my father, much to my grandfather's chagrin, and my grandfather took me because he had full custody of me. After a month, my mother married another man, and Mika, my half-sister, was born."

A sudden feeling of sympathy for Nathan's plight overtook her. On the surface, his life appears to be ideal, but it turns out that he grew up without the affection of his mother and father, but his grandfather did not fail to provide him with the love he deserved. "That's why you're avoiding her?" She asks softly without looking at him and so Nathan takes some plates for their Brunch. "The food is ready." He said and grabbed a wooden chair. "Are you not hungry?" He asks her and stops eating. "Yes, I'm hungry of course...but I want to know why your Mother is back now in your life?" She asks him and starts to eat the fish. The reason is unknown to me, although it may be because of my wealth or because she is aware of our arranged marriage. "Maybe she wants you to Marry another girl and not me, I mean we're not e...you know, I mean my family company that you buy. So maybe after one month, I can finally take my inheritance and we can file a divorce paper." She states this while her mouth is full of food but now she feels something in her throat that makes her feel bad.
"Oh my go- wa- water, please!" She asks Nathan and he goes very
to the kitchen and gets a glass of water for her.
She grabbed the glass of water immediately. "I thought I'm going to die." She said and panting. "People say, Don't talk when you've got your mouth full." Then he let out a wide grin and took a tissue to wipe her wet lips. "Our relationship must end after one month so that finding our soul partner isn't complicated. Right?" Nathan's face darkened as he pondered why this girl would wish to divorce him. To avoid the subject, he gets up and puts all the dirty dishes in the sink. He's only interested in her and nothing else.
"Nathan, are you listening?" He asks Nathan and a vertical wrinkle appears between her eyebrows waiting for him to speak up.
"Oh god...I miss my parents, Even though I'm not particularly close to my parents, I miss them terribly. Mom and dad are always so preoccupied with their jobs. They don't have time for me, but I understand because they need to work to provide a better future for me. I'm always with the maid, and occasionally with my aunt Isabel. She is strict, but I can deal with her attitude toward me. I don't belong in a happy family, but I'm grateful nonetheless." she said, mesmerizing those times when her parents are still alive.
"They're just there, here," Nathan said. She smiled softly as Nathan stretched his arms to indicate to her chest, where her heart was.
But as she looked out of the window at the front door, she was startled to see a human silhouette in the entrance.
"Someone's here, Nathan. It appears that someone is keeping an eye on our every move." The trembling in her voice caused Nathan to cover her up. "What are you referring to, precisely? Nobody else is here, just you and me." Erin recalled the days when she would receive flowers from her stalker and even a strange post note from random guys and never tell her where it was from. But as Erin carefully opens the cabin door to check if her vision was correct and to her surprise she finds nothing, Nathan frowns in bewilderment at what is truly occurring to Erin.
This perplexed him, and he wondered why she suddenly became terrified when she saw a shadow. Is she being bothered by anyone? While looking at Erin, his mind speaks And he wanted to protect this girl at any cost.
Nathan checked to see whether Erin was telling the truth before opening the door, but when he did, he was shocked to see not a single trace of the person he'd been told was waiting outside. Erin was perplexed as he walked out and waved his hand. "Look there's nothing here!" he said as he called for Erin to come out. "Erin, you need to face your fears." he calmly said. she said with a thumbs up, "I'm ok here, I don't want to be outside."
Nathan may want to know everything about Erin's life because he's unaware of something else or because Erin has something to hide from him. when he learned about her family, the drugs, the business, and the people who wanted to see her pay for the harm her late parents had caused. But there's one thing he's certain of: this lady isn't wicked.
He also learns that the syndicate group on the hunt for Erin is led by Frederick Antonio, a Spaniard with a global drug empire and a formidable adversary. He needs to talk to his friend Alas, the leader of the dangerous mafia across the world, to negotiate with Frederick, and he will do everything for Erin and just settle everything so that the woman's life is no longer in danger.
"Nathan! Nathan! What are you doing outside for so long? It's very cold. Come on in." Erin yelled from inside the cabin to open the door for him.
"Yes, I'm coming," he said calmly and walk towards inside.
"What's the matter with you? Do you want to get sick?" she said in a high-pitched voice, looking up at him because he's quite tall. "Don't worry, baby...I will be fine," he said in a honeyed voice that makes her mouth fell open. "Seriously, Nathan...you are joking me, and that's not funny."
"One that I'm sure is that you are just imagining things... can we talk about it inside?"
