Nathan was flabbergasted when he saw Erin, who had only recently returned home, and Luke was still with her; His eyes were a mix of surprise and barely restrained anger and his sight was drawn to Erin's hand in Luke's arm.
Nathan's eyes narrowed as they met, and he seemed to sense Erin's frigid stare. He felt an ache in his heart as a result of that stare, so he stormed out of the house, refusing to talk with them. Nathan was really upset as a result of the occurrences; he didn't know what else to say to Erin because it was evident that he was not to blame and that everything had transpired as a result of Dianne's forbidden kiss.
He tightened his jaw and stared blankly as he heard Romelia's cheerful greeting inside to Luke and Erin. "Damn it..." he murmured as he returned his attention to the people inside; he believed Erin was better off without him, so he decided not to push himself any further.
"Boss, do we need to go back inside to greet Miss Erin?" James asks calmly.
"I don't have time to waste on that stupid woman..." He said this while walking about as if he has no feelings for Erin. He's just upset, and enraged people say awful things.
While following his boss to the car, James scratched his neck, thinking that maybe his boss is only upset with Erin and he doesn't really mean what he just said.
Erin's mother, Romelia, contacted Nathan and stopped him before he could get in his car. "Why can't you even talk to your wife?" Romelia asked as she approached him.
Nathan frowned and sighed. "Mrs. Henderson, what are you doing here?"
"You need to talk to your wife…" Romelia replied with a worried face persuading Nathan to make all things better with Erin.
"I can't, I can see in her eyes that she isn't interested in me anymore and she is not my wife, Only on paper... I'm sorry, but I don't have time for this. I have to go, Mrs. Henderson..." He said this before getting into his car and driving away from the house.
"W-wait…"
"Get in here, Mom, and just let him go...ugh! he's a jerk!" Erin exclaimed and escorted her mother indoors.
"I don't want to see you like this, Erin... Nathan is a nice guy; did you know he's looking for you and is concerned about your safety? He can't sleep because he's looking for you, and you've let him go insane." While she was having fun with Luke, Romelia told her of Nathan's suffering.
Her eyes narrowed and she developed a vertical wrinkle between her brows after hearing that from her mother. Her lips pursed slightly, as though she was also wrong for not listening to Nathan's reasons, But she remains obstinate and refuses to speak to Nathan because she is still irritated and will not forgive Nathan easily.
"Nathan and I will never get along, no matter what you do... he hurt me, and I can't forgive him now so easily, he needs to feel what I feel…" Erin replied to her mother.
Luke grinned a little when he heard that from Erin since it only means one thing: Erin and Nathan are becoming increasingly confused, and he's free of what he'll do with Erin soon. For now, he just needs to stay patient and wait for the proper timing.
"You're right, Erin; it's difficult to forgive someone who has done you wrong..." Luke said gently and glanced at Erin but Romelia disagreed with him.
Romelia has a bad feeling about Luke and believes that if Erin listens to him, Luke will easily make the situation worse. Romelia does not want this to happen; she wants to save her daughter's happy marriage, so she says to Luke, "Luke, maybe you don't have to get involved in Nathan and Erin's quarrel because it is just between them and you are out of it..." As he listened to Romelia's advice, his smile disappeared.
"Mom…" Erin said.
"Yes I know, Mrs. Henderson, I am just being a good friend to your daughter…" Luke defended himself and bit his lower lip when he noticed that Romelia, the mother of the woman he desires, had a bit of irritation with him. He is a little annoyed with Romelia and his eyes are tender as he looks at her.
"I know Luke, I thank you for being such a good friend and for taking care of my daughter and bringing her home safely. I am grateful for that, but as for their quarrel, let's just say we are out of it and will not make things worse... right?" Romelia said and her eyebrow raised a little bit.
"Yes, you are right Mrs. Henderson...I understand…" Luke replied calmly, restraining his temper not to beat the old lady in front of him.
