Chapter 47 A mother's hug

Erin arrives at the mansion late at night, and as she stepped inside, the mansion's maids grabbed all of the shopping bags she was carrying. "Thank you," she expressed her gratitude.
She instantly met Nathan in the living room with a hug, and when she turned around, she spotted Lucille, the woman who presented herself as her biological mother. Her demeanor shifted, and she scowled as she looked at Nathan.
She pursed her lips and murmured to Nathan, "I'd like a private conversation with you..."
"Excuse us."
Lucille only nodded and smiled warmly at them.
She clutched Nathan's hand in hers and led him outside, taking a deep breath and folding her arms while closing her eyes tightly then said "Why is that woman here again? Were you the one who invited her? I don't want to see her again; you already know she isn't my mother."
"She wants to talk to you Erin, sometimes you need to listen to people's explanations. Open your mind, take a deep breath, and don't be a prisoner in your own mind…"
"But Nathan…"
"No buts, you need to talk to her to enlighten everything, maybe you should know about who you are…" To cheer her up, Nathan softly touched her face and gently kissed her on the forehead. She shuts her eyes, wondering if she'll be able to make it through this and how she'll deal with the truth.
She went to the living room alone and saw her mother patiently waiting for her; she could see the stress in her eyes, and it appeared that she hadn't slept in days due to the thought of her. Lucille wants to hug Erin and make up for the years she didn't fulfill her motherhood to her child; she misses it all, but she can't, so she sacrifices herself to save Erin from her terrible husband's threat.
Erin felt light-hearted with this woman as Lucille adjusted herself while Erin was also glancing at her. Erin sits on the long sofa with her legs crossed and her eyes fixed on Lucille as if there is a part of her heart that feels sorry for her.
"I know our first meeting wasn't good ... I just want to say sorry again," Lucille said with her voice low.
Erin continued to listen to Lucille without saying anything. She felt Lucille's melancholy, but she couldn't explain why she was feeling this way just now.
"I was overjoyed when you were born because I saw the greatest blessing of my life. Your father and I are both in love, but we are both destined to marry the person we don't love. My ruthless husband found out about you, so I gave up my time to be with him and so you'll be safe with your father." Lucille's brows angled up and her mouth was drawn inwards as if she was trying to keep from crying because she wanted to continue her sentence.

"I miss you every day and night, daughter; they forbade me from visiting you or they would put an end to your life. When I wasn't with you in previous years, it was a year of misery. I wish to touch you or even see you; it grieves me greatly that you will be separated from me for an extended period of time." Lucille didn't realize she was crying as she was recounting what had truly happened to Erin; it was just too painful for her to go back to the events of the past; she still remembers the awful sentiments of a brokenhearted mother. She is lost and wants to scream, but she is unable to do so since everyone is controlling her as if she is spending her life as a fool.
Erin exhaled deeply and a single tear fell down her cheeks; she felt her throat close up, but she tried to control herself and wiped her tears with her palm as her vision blurred due to the tears streaming down; she stared up at the ceiling to soothe her tears and prevent them from flowing.
She sobbed because she felt sorry for Lucille's situation, and if she were Lucille, she wouldn't be able to be apart from her child for a long period. Her mother's life grew even more unpleasant as a result of the people who tried to dominate her mother's life. However, because of her children, her mother was able to survive those years.
"I don't know that's what happened to you ... my whole life is like a lie, my whole life is like a blind person who doesn't know what the truth is. I was blind for eight years, do you know that incident? they forbade you from seeing me because I was a product of a forbidden affair!" She responded to her mother because she, too, had gone blind for eight years, but it was the best time of her life because she had never experienced the world's brutality before.
and she is still grateful for the second chance to see the world, so she wants to thank the woman who has donated her precious eyesight to her.
Lucille wipes away her tears and holds back her sobs as she recalls her daughter Eve, who is Erin's eye donor. When she remembered the image of her kid she had lost seven years ago, it felt as if her heart had been struck with a dagger. But the memories are still fresh in her mind, so she hugged herself and began to speak, her voice trembling.
"Eve was your older sister until the news reached me that you've been blind for eight years due to a tragic accident... When she died from cancer, she talked to me about donating her eyes to you, as if she's gone... she still looks alive in our sight. She knows about you, she wants to get to know you as her younger sister...but suddenly she just lost her life and is gone forever. I missed her, I missed her a lot...another year of misery again and agony...I lost my daughter and I lost you too for so many years..."
Erin couldn't stop crying as she remembered her sister's beautiful eyes. She can't stand the truths her mother expresses; they give her goosebumps, her body is trembling, and her mind is exhausted from thinking about so many things. She had hoped to see her sister before she passed away but she doesn't give her a chance. Lucille stepped up and gave her a warm hug, the safest hug she had ever had from her mother. It turned out to be a mother's hug, after which she closed her eyes and passed out.
