Chapter 30 - Break Up

After leaving the Walters Mansion, Ryan had drove off to his penthouse in one of the building developed by W CORPS.

The minute he had parked in the underground garage, he got out of the car and walked over to the passenger seat to open it.

Selena stared at him complicatedly before sighing and getting out of the car. She stood in front of him as he gazed down at her with hooded eyes hiding the emotions in his eyes.

Seeing that he wasn't moving, she took the initiative to walk towards the elevator, seconds later she heard his footsteps following behind her and her lips curled.

Getting on the elevator, she familiarly pressed his floor's number as he came to stand side to side with her. He didnt talk and neither did she so the elevator fell silent, each of them with their own thoughts.

The elevator dinged and they got off on the top floor, all of which was owned by him and watched by the side as he performed a series of biometric authentication before the door opened and they went in.

The moment they entered, he went over to the mini bar and poured himself a glass of red wine and walked over to the the glass window overlooking the city while she went to sit down on her favourite couch.

Neither of them spoke for a while and the silence accompanied them until Ryan spat out one word from where he stood.

"Why?"

Selena curled up on the couch as she looked upwards blankly, It was hard to tell if she heard him or not. Then her eyes trembled as she blinked and she turned to look at him, her voice slightly hoarse.

"Why? Why do I want to break up with you? Or what? I don't know what exactly you are asking me, Ryan because there are a thousand reasons why I want to break up with you. It depends on whether you are willing to hear them."

Ryan's figure trembled slightly on hearing her words but she, who was lost in her thoughts didn't notice as she continued in a bland tone.

"I never really understood you, I tried, I really did but I just could never understand because you never gave me a chance to... And in these past 10 years that we have been together, sometimes I clearly feel that you do love me but most of the times, I can't feel your love, which made me think If being with me was just a way of you taking responsibility for what happened back in college."

"But I clearly told you back then that you didn't have to, YOU insisted and because I had a crush on you, I accepted and became a couple with you. Then your family... Since we've been together, I have never met any of your family nor have I ever heard you talk about them. I once thought that if you didn't want to talk about them, it's fine because I believed that one day, you will. But years later, you still didn't."

"You know virtually everything about me but I know nothing. Nothing at all besides the fact that you are a mafia leader and Justin and Dan are your best friends. This shows that you never trusted me", She stared at him and asked calmly,

"Do you still want me to continue?", ignoring his dark and unreadable eyes staring back at her and seeing that he didn't answer, she answered herself,

"Then I will continue. I had once thought that it was because I wasn't strong enough so I worked hard to get to where I am today but it still didn't change anything. I am not saying this because I want you to feel indebted or anything to me but rather I am just stating a fact. You never let me come into contact with anything mafia-related and it was fine with me because I believed you were just protecting me but now I am not so sure because the truth is, I am an outsider to everything to who you are and everything you own Maybe until today you never felt that what you were doing was wrong because I never said anything so you took it for granted, sometimes you go AWOL without telling me anything and I just feel so powerless and stupid because I had no idea who to go to except from Justin who also tells me he doesn't know where you are at."

"And.... about me wanting to get married... I keep getting the feeling that you aren't ready anytime for it but the problem is I just happen to be ready for it. And since we happen to want different things then I don't see the reason why we still have to keep this relationship."

Ryan had put down the wine in the glass at some point and turned completely to face her. His dark eyes looked at Selena with complicated eyes as he asked again,

"So you really do want to break up?"

She looked at him with love and sadness in her eyes afterall this was the man she loved but still nodded in the end with determination,

"Yes. You can't give me what I want."

"Okay."

She thought she had heard wrong and looked at him incredulously as she asked with disbelief,

"You agreed?"

"Isn't this what you want?", He asked calmly.

Yes, isn't this what she wanted? But she still found it hard to believe that he agreed so easily afterall she was quite familiar with his temper. She had thought it would take more to convince him but...

In fact, she had harboured a tiny hope that he might agree to their marriage if he wasn't able to let her go but even that hope turned out to be a joke!

She laughed bitterly to herself as she picked up her bag and stood up, 'I still though too highly of myself. I should have known I wasn't that important to him'

Women were always so contradicting, if he hadn't agreed, she might have felt annoyed at him because he couldn't give her what she wanted but still doesn't let her go. And now that he agreed too easily, she felt she wasn't that important to him.

"Then I guess this is really goodbye. Take good care of yourself, Ryan", She said while lowering her head because she was afraid that if he stared at him, she might lose her will and not be able to let him go. This made her unable to see the man clenching and unclenching his hands as if to restrain himself from pulling her into his arms and tying her forcibly to his side.

"You also should take good care of yourself, Selena", He forced himself to say.

She turned around and urgently walked to the door forcibly stopping the tears that were threatening to spill out.

The minute he heard her go out and the door locked, Ryan's face changed completely as he took the glass that contained red wine and threw it angrily on the wall. Watching it spill on the wall and mar it, a deeply cold look appeared in his eyes.
