Nina sat in the study typing away furiously on her laptop which was placed in the table, the words to her online novel in total concentration.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
Only the sound of her hands hitting the laptop's keys could be heard in the otherwise silent study.
Following her retirement from the modelling industry, she had began writing online novels to the amazement of her family and friends who had originally thought she had been joking and now she could be considered quite famous in the circle.
However, the harsh sound of a phone call made made her movements came to a pause and disrupted her rhythm.
This made an annoyed expression made its way onto her face, then she sighed and reluctantly took away her hands from the laptop's keys, knowing it would be hard for her to get back into rhythm again.
She turned her gaze to the ringing phone placed beside the laptop and picked it up while thinking to herself.
'This better be important, whoever you are!'
But her thoughts came to a complete halt when she saw who the caller was.
'My Lena'
This was Selena who she had not been able to reach for the past four days and although, she had informed her, albeit with some excitement she still couldn't quite understand when she had last called that she might be uncontactable for the next three days, she still couldn't help being worried.
She had wanted to ask the reason why she would be uncontactable but had ended up swallowing her words, respecting her friend's privacy and personal space.
But this was already the fourth day and she had been thinking that if she still didn't receive a call from her before late noon, she would proceed to inform Ryan to find her even if she might be displeased later on.
Before the call could end, she hurriedly slided her finger across the phone to answer it and placed it on her ears. But just as she was about to start berating Selena over the phone, she said a sentence that left her stunned.
'I found my parents!'
Wondering if she was starting to have auditory hallucinations, Nina's eyes widened and her mouth gaped open in shock, as her brain crashed for a minute while she struggled to understand what her beloved friend had just said.
On the other hand, when Selena heard no response, she thought it was because Nina didn't hear her well so she repeated.
"Nina, did you hear me? I said I found my parents! Turned out I wasn't abandoned!"
Nina blinked as she finally came back to her senses. Well, she could now verify that her ears were functioning normally and she did understood what Selena had just said.
And though she was still in shock and disbelief, a sincere smile appeared on her face as she congratulated her through the phone.
"I am happy for you, Lena."
"Thank you, darling!" Selena giggled happily as she answered with obvious excitement and delight in her voice.
Then Nina remembered what she had said the last time they talked on the phone and a guess came to her.
"Is that why you had said you would be uncontactable for the past three days?"
"I was just worried I would not be able to control myself from telling you if we did talk, since the DNA test hasn't been conducted then and i didn't want to say something that I wasn't sure of myself which is why I waited until today that the result finally came out."
"I guess I was being worried for nothing then. I had thought that you had ran into some trouble or something."
This made Selena laughed as she retorted, "What trouble could I possibly run into while vacationing?"
Listening to how carefree and happy she sounded, Nina breathed a sigh of relief in her heart and couldn't help but marvel at whimsicalness of fate. She had gone vacationing because of heartbreak but had somehow ended up finding her long lost family.  
She lost in love but gained back the family that she had always wanted.
But thinking of this made a new worry arise in her as she started wondering how her newly found family was treating her friend.
"So, how is your family? I mean how do they treat you? Are they good to you?" Nina asked in a tentative manner.
Selena on the other end of the phone seemed to fall silent and then Nina heard her say softly, "They really treat me well, too well infact, that sometimes I could not help but feel like I am dreaming."
Hearing the insecurity in her voice made Nina reaise that although Selena seemed happy on the surface, maybe deep inside of her heart she couldn't help the fear that it might all just disappear in flash.
Her situation can be related to a saying, 'Too good to be true'
Selena's yearning for a family of her own can almost be considered abnormal which is why there was an unreal feeling when she finally got her wish.
Sighing helplessly, Nina could only comfort her. 
"It would get better, Lena. When you have spent more time with them, you will find that all your worries are all unnecessary."
After saying this, she changed the topic to distract and also to learn some goosip.
"So what do you mean by you weren't abandoned? Didn't the matron say that you were found outside of the doors of the orphanage? And you still haven't told me how they found you or you found them or maybe you both found each other?"
Successfully distracted, Selena proceeded to tell Nina what her parents had told her about why she had ended up at the orphanage and how they had met."

Meanwhile over at the Blood Gang's headquarters, the atmosphere was tense inside his office as Ryan listened to the report of his subordinate who he had sent to protect Selena, on the phone.
"Miss Selena's DNA report with the Preston's came out. It's positive." 
Ryan's face had no change of expression but those familiar with him would know that he was in a good mood right now. And obviously, Dan was one of the few people who knew him quite well.
He had been fulfilling Ryan's for gossip just moments ago by telling him about his meeting with Mia... No, her real name was Ariana when a subordinate had called to report.
'That woman had actually given him a fake name!' He thought to himself hatefully.
Did she really think he wouldn't be able to find out her real identity? That would be an insult to his position as the second-in-command of Blood Gang! 
Also, after giving her his number the next morning, she actually dared not to call him! Was he supposed to be the one to call her first? That would only happen over his dead body, he never begged women rather women were the one doing the begging and he would never break that principle for anyone!
After falsibly comforting himself that there was no woman he couldn't get so why would he be headstrong about a particular woman. Someone seemed to have selectively forgot that he had been the one checking his phone over and over again since that day.
He turned to watch Ryan with interest sitting oppsite him and that was how he noticed that the person who had been in a good mood seconds ago, now had a murderous look on his face.
With curiosity, he leaned over to listen to whatever the underling was over the phone but h was unable to catch anything as Ryan hung up.
Feeling somewhat disappointed, he straightened up and still couldn't help but ask.
"What happened?"
Ryan glanced at him and with no intention of hiding it from him, he spat out.
"Selena found her parents but also got a freebie finacé."
Dan looked dumbfounded and stared at him with the intention of seeing any hint of joking on his face but he saw none.
The first part of the sentence didn't surprise him since the underlings had been informing them of Selena's movements but the second part of the sentence seemed unbelievable!
A hint of pity couldn't help but arise in his heart.
'You just broke up with your woman and then she went around and found her parents, but the worst part is that she got an additional fiancé in return!'
"Does she know about it?" Dan asked curiously.
Although Ryan's heart felt really stuffy and uncontrollable violence filled his heart, he still shook his head and answered, "She doesn't know yet but it shouldn't be long before she does."
And according to what he knew about her, If her family really wants her to marry that person, she would. But coming to this conclusion didn't make him feel better, instead he felt even more angry and violent.
He needed to vent.
And there just happen to be a ready made sparring partner right here.
He stood up and went to drag Dan by his collar.
Scared by the menacing look in his eyes, he asked, "What the hell are you doing?"
Ryan replied curtly with no emotion in his voice, "Bringing you to train."
Dan's eyes widened in disbelief as he started struggling, "What training! I am not going , no way!"
But obviously he wasn't even qualified to reject as Ryan indifferently dragged him out the door making Dan's voice echo for long time in the office before fading away.
"Ryan, you bastard!!!!"
He still couldn't escape after all.
